hi all, i am looking at getting my first rimfire rifle and am thinking about a ruger 10/22 semi. i have permmision which i currentley lamp with my lurcher and do a bi of ferreting . i have been shooting for sometime with an air rifle but want a rimmy for range. any thoughts you might have about the 10/22 or other options would be apprecited.

she will start to bleed a bit and her vulva will swell, from day 9-14 she will allow a dog to mate her, it will be pretty obviouse as she will stand for the dog and put her tail to the side and will also taunt him telling him she is ready, after this she will probably bleed slightly for up to another week. this is the norm but appreciate some bitches may vary slightly.

i would stick with him, training is half the fun! when it all comes together and he starts picking up and bring rabbits to you it will be worth it.......you may have to cross a few hurdles but a bit of effort and time will pay off in the long run. my lurcher was a late starter and very frustrating, many would have given up but i knew she had it in her as she was so keen.......wouldnt be without her now. good luck

would wait a few months myself...when she is ready take her out a couple of nights a week and walk her up on lamped rabbits, she will soon get the idea of what the lamp means

I love both really for diffrent reasons, i was out on monday daytime with a mate and my lurcher and his, i have a stretch of land that has a load of burrows that are hard to get to due to a thick hedgerow, we net what we can and then have a dog each side of the hedge to run the bolters. i do enjoy it when we get a bolter and let the dog have a turn .

drontal plus, and by the way if you have a cox and robinson pharmacy near by they do it and its alot cheaper than from the vet

i agree mate, jess is only 2 but i will probably get another pup when she gets into her older years but would still take her out with the ferrets as she is clearly in her element when over the fields.

I guess it really does depend on the land your running, i agree with some of the other posts, its good to be out, i normally just go out for 2-3 hours, and im happy if i bring a few bunnys back for the freezer. i will quite often go on my own with my 1 lurcher, sometimes with my mate and his 2 lurchers, between us we have a fair amount of permmission, i would go out a bit longer if i was out with lee as the dogs take it in turns..........just depends on how the night goes really

hi ad22, a good post i enjoyed reading it, my bitch is 2 now and started catching quite late on, i perservered and like you only took her out for an hour or so at a time and had a few runs, eventualy she seemed to just "click" and now catches on a regular basis. Her problem was that she was so excited on every run that i think she went at full pelt and seemed to over run them especialy as they turned, now she uses her head a bit more and sticks behind or to the side of them and strikes at the right time. regarding her hunting up, she used to do this but i found the best bet was to wa
