  1. I trial spaniels and labs and would be very interested in a day
  2. I have stud dogs that are used regularly and entire bitches, and to date have never had any accidents, none of my boys make any noise, escape nor go off their food and regularly stay in the next kennel to bitches that come in and out of season, all down to the set up and how you manage your male dogs and the respect they have for you etc. Nicola
  3. he'll be 8 years young on 1st october, and still does 70 + days picking up and walked up days a year. Nic
  4. thanks I would be very biased saying that though ...lol... Nic
  5. Apart from my own dog (naturally) being in scotland, I would also recommend Spence's dog or the only other stud dogs I would use on my own bitches are down in England, and this is becuase they match my bitches pedigree's and I know the dogs . Either denford danny of mark cliffords (nottingham) , or Helmsway hawk at witchwillows gundogs in Durham area. Nic
  6. Sorry been off-line a while thanks for the nice comments That video was taken years ago, my dog Finn is now nearly 8 years old and style honest, biddable and hunts with the same amount of drive, there was no game in that ground at all, he would hunt concrete if I tld him to, he always aims to please. FTW with awards in open trials, one of the best springers I have had and will ever have, Nic
  7. Well said Rob, best of luck with your pup ! Nicola
  8. Not all trial dogs are hot !!!! take ones from FTCH Clarburgh Art he can throw some pretty soft pups, as can a number of other well used ftch sires and dams, getting sick to death of ALL trial dogs and trial breeding being pigeon holed. Ask a a lot of the pro trainers many a fftch x ftch bred dog can be rejected for trials as it's too soft ! The best reference for any litter of pups is to see the sire and dam working, then make a choice, that way you have a good idea what you are buying into Nic
  9. half and half, half breeding, other half down to the individual dog and the jockey on board regardless of the lines, I know some very hot gamekeeper bred dogs. Nic
  10. a trial dog should be a well polished shooting dog, nothing more and should be more than capable of a days work, just a shame a lot of triallers don't work their dogs....for me i would happily have either, depends what bloodline names are in the pedigree
  11. Having seen the dog in action, and what he produces I would also highly recommend Carole Clark's dog Murphy, I will be using him on my own yellow bitch come time, cracking dog, honest and sound, and very consistent, would chose him over drakeshead any day but thats my personal view Nic
  12. best of luck with the pups............ Nic
  13. is that marhystin gundogs ? newdeer Nice looking lab Nicola
  14. I have ! Kingcott Del is in the states, whats not to get right with what I posted ! If you are that bothered about the exact date and time (because no-one else is) then phone Eddie
  15. Feck me, butcherboy said "about" 2 years ago, Del definately went to the states what does it matter what date was stamped on the pet passport ? he was offering good and valid advice about a stud dog not being available in the uk. Only way to be sure as Butcherboy said phone the last uk owner Eddie and ask him what date
  16. Del has definately gone to the states Nic
  17. Thank you thats my thoughts exactly, have asked admin to remove this thread as I can't be arsed with the sarky comments and assumptions any more
  18. Someone has got me confused with someone else ! I DON'T have kids !!!!! NOR do I have any on the way so thats not the reason she's being rehomed, god I really wish I had not bothered posting this on here it's a hell of a lot more hassle than it's worth. I am also very passionate about dogs as those on the forum who actually know me would testify, but I am sick fed up of folks assuming they know others on forums by posts , it's so damn stereotypical ! This has not been an easy decision for me to rehome her made harder by posting it on this forum. Nicola
  19. Thanks I am not getting rid but instead re-homing her ............ Feck sake I can't even give a £750 dog to a good home without someone criticising
  20. wow what a story and a real shame for the bitch, glad she's now home, and I am sure you must be too, amazing she's returned after all that time Nicola
  21. I must have a kennel full of exceptions, mine (spaniels and labs) all take their time with the food and never a mad dash to finishgfirst, one thing that can slow them down is putting a large stone or something in the bowl, make her work for the food, bolting food isn't a good thing, have not used this method, never needed to but told it works Nicola
  22. Segewick Thanks for the post, she's now found a good home and hopefully heads off there this week, if not then we do have a stand in to take her. Nicola
  23. Thanks all, think I might have found her a home Nicola
  24. You suspect wrong, I personally couldn't care less if she pointed or not, probably her lack of pointing interest is that she's show bred with a few working lines. Thanks for the controlled comment , she's a nice bitch but would benefit from someone with more time to put into her, or make an ideal pet . Nicola
