  1. Youve only got to feel the edge thats on them tusks to see an inexperienced or unlucky dog would get torn easily. Not had many and never had a dog hurt by em but you can see the potential for trouble.
  2. Ive seen the the odd occasion when ive had five dogs on the yard and all laid up but i never went for six. I was younger then and you could make as much money lamping as you could going to work so thats what we did for a living even then though it would be the pup i reared at the time who would get the most work. Now im happy with the one and even though im out every day[never been one for working for someone else] he will never see to hard a life when the pups grown at about two -two and a half then i will get another ready to fill his boots. Its suprising how much work a well bred lurcher
  3. Good question SIMOMAN Ive been lucky with pups only had one out of about a dozen that i brought up from pups and he was a yapper he ended up at a keepers in scotland where he could yap to his hearts content. I only ever had one for a for a particular job and that was a 1st x collie grew all the others have been bitsas worker to worker bred ive only ever bought one pup that i didnt know the parentage of so that probably why i have been so lucky as i expect them to do their jobs fully
  4. Looks like she had a great life R.I.P JESS
  5. Ive been around lurchers for a fair old time and had a mantle of dogs sometimes having as many as five on the go at once to allow for injurys etc i can honestly say if they left my charge they were either homed properley with a pet owner or they were pts. I stopped breeding as it was doing my head in watching pups go to folks with good intentions only to be sold on before they were even old enough to be able to do the job. Thankfully them days are long gone when you could make a decent living off of bunnys so now im a one dog man i will only get another as a back up when the young dogs fully

  10. RED SQUIRREL!! Brilliant mate. Your a lucky man dox was that at the back of yours too all we get is them damn yankee greys not seen a red in the wild for years last one i saw was in poole harbour.
  11. Yep Ditch thems the catterpillars about 3 inches in length we get grey ones too that are about a third again bigger havent a clue what they are. Just had a look on the net and it reckons the poplar moth sometimes display a light colour on its wings that is hidden most of the time that will be what ive seen it looked odd when they were coupled like two different moths each time there would be one like the one in borderers pic and another with light bits which was bigger so happen its the male displaying. Cracking things though well impressive.
  12. Ayup Ditch do they come in two colours as i live under a great line of poplars and theres them and some with white on em im sure ive seen em coupled. Great big green caterpillars on me lawn every year i reckon there theirs as well.
  13. R.I.P MISSY Nothing worse than losing a dog and your not sure of the reason i feel it for you mate. ive had dogs poisoned on the land and its pretty instant if its strichnine a fit and its over they do froth a bit but not a lot its the set grin that gives strichnine away. Your doing the right thing going for a look around as its the time of year some unscrupulus would salt the land for cubs. Even if you find anything its hard to get a prosecution as the landowner will argue that anyone could be salting but it would be nice to know . One keeper near me got away with it for years till h
  14. How come its more to use the stud on a whippet than a lurcher a matings a mating no matter what the bitch is.
