  3. Hazels chestnuts and beechnuts good as they are or for making stuffing with breadcrumbs and herbs. Ive eaten acorns as well but there best when theyve been buried a while and the skin has gone yellow.

  5. I would change the disinfectant your using or be carefull not to make the solution too strong some types dont rinse away too well

Chantrelles i pick are in pine woods and my grandfather shown em me there is a few sorts that look the same its the way the gills are straight instead of forked and the slight different shade of colour more yellow than orange thats the easiest way to tell if your not sure get a good field guide that should show you the difference easier. Godman Honey fungus is best left alone ive seen a few folks get ill when eating honey fungus when doing the festivals it suits some folks but not others i never bother with it although its a great looking fungus.
  8. Ive often hung fish in the chimneys of benders tepees and bow tops cant beat fresh smoked fish of any variety

  10. Got to agree 100% with TOMO. Having had to lamp in years past all year round as it was the only way i could earn a living the only nights we wouldnt go out was when you get that silver look to the grass as the temprature drops and what you say mate is bang on ive had good results all year round but when its gonna freeze them shushies dont like leaving their warrens much better to go night ferreting.

  13. dry jews ears out and use em for gravy thickener no MSG spot on i eat em all my favourites are puffballs,blewits,all forms of the field mushies,oysters and chantrelles. Ive picked field blews for over thirty years now and at a pound a pound to the local greengrocer or butcher it makes for a good mornings walk and a good excuse for being on the land
  14. One of my favourite freshwater fish lovelly in the frying pan we just tie lines out with big lobs on them on the dykes round lincoln while we are out with the dogs a couple of hours and youve either got eels or jack pike either way lovelly grub
  15. Tried it once and no matter how long you boiled it it tasted of dog sh-t ive since been told you have to be carefull not to taint the meat with their anal glands but i aint willing to try it again :sick:
  16. Molly shes not been getting bit by a pup has she seen it a few times when pups are rough with their needle teeth it dont seem to happen once theyve cut their big uns probably brcause there not sharp enough to pierce the skin.
  17. Used to feed cods heads but removed the bones easy to do with heads. I would mince the filleted stuff to be on the safe side dogs will thrive on it

  19. Im the same skycat the later ive started em the longer theyve lasted i just let em self enter while they are just mooching about or a bit of ferreting but dont take em where theres a serious amount of game about untill they are fully matured ive entered young and had no good come from it.
  20. Nice one shaun i heard there was deerhound blood in him one thing i dont mind in the mix if its the right blood same as the sauki ive read that bregawn was a real tool too. One things for sure id have loved to see the dog run in the flesh his style was well impressive.
