All lurchers given enough work will run up and course only as fast as they need to then the stamina saved is well noticable had various types that could run 5s no problems but a bit of sal never hurt any strain ive ever seen to be honest.

I reallky like the stamp mate cant beat linebred stuff imo what M and E bred dogs are they down from atb.

Most i ever paid was 200 for grown dogs already lamping when i was at it 24/7 only while my own were knocked up was lucky enough to have a decent dog when i started out cost 40 quid as a pup he kept me in stock whilst he was alive and favours from friends who still have the strain now hes gone has made it possible that its still with me now. Always tried to keep the line going just bought in an outcross off a lad i didnt really know well did me a big favour as he could have doubled the price how shes bred. I just like the whole pup thing and enjoy entering young stock but if i was dogless a

Ive had a couple of runts from large deerhound xs both were the raciest of the litter by far but ive seen runts from other crosses that never made big enough for an all round working type Seen runts leave a litter and get bigger than other pups that were much larger at six wks of age probably due to them getting fed better by different owners good post Sambo

Is that your import Rio looks like it can run mate stands well tall how big is she mate Salukis are very light framed though ive seen some strong lines especially in khazak hounds reckon they would be heavier . Not sure if the lightness helps or hinders when the grounds soft be interesting to hear folks veiws on it as myself ive seen light framed dogs struggle when they have to dig in when the grounds heavy but ive never seen a pure on in those conditions only hybrids

Good point TOMO Always thought there was a distinct variation in hares in different areas on a few places ive hunted the hares are smaller and darker and can run faster turn better and take the dog on a trip you need speed and stay together to catch them plodders wont get near them some of the spots youd get both types the big red uns always seem easy compared to the smaller ones when a little dark un gets up you more or less know know it will be real run.

SHHH Rio theres plenty of good hares that live off of fenland some of the best ive ever ran were on the flood plains still flat dyked land though
-
Got right into coursing in the seventies the travellers had pure greys doing two from three on big land dogdyke boston etc the deerhound types and collie deerhound types were the favourite then along came the sals made the job easier with the stamina. You have to put the work in more if they havent got the saluki blood but they do learn to run slower and conserve energy with experience i still run a fast type now typical of the old stamp traveller stuff tight runner that can stay on a bit.

Once owned a fair dog that could kill fours and fives he was blown off on a couple of occasions good hares on the last run of the day he didnt like it neither did i luck had it he didnt blow, Even a non saluki type should be able to kill a few its when they dont kill em quick enough youve got problems especially on big land ive carried a few off that ran a race that was too much for them once blown they are never the same again seen it in others dogs as well better to have a bit of sal in there to start with just incase. As regards the pures im trying my second one out now this one from
