  2. Gravity now thats a can of worms in itself sherlock how deep you going down this here rabbit hole
  3. The laetoli prints are worth a look at totally accepted as some of the ealiest hominid footprints . Man woman and bird and hare prints and what looks like a pheasant to me 3.5 million years ago bet they had a dog that could catch them lol.
  4. Trouble with your plan is where do you go next brother sister ive had to do father daughter matings in the past to keep a line going only reason i would do it but then you have to outcross or your stuck if the sire hasnt any other offspring. If you have the chance be better finding a bitch related to yours to put the old dog across then breed the pup from that mating to your bitch be a better way in a perfect world. I did two father daughter matings myself offspring were varied one large pup one small but nothing worse than that one bitch was hyper but didnt mind that in a hunter.
  5. I cant get my head around evolution when they say we came from a fish frog or whatever they reckon evolution to me is not something getting bigger stronger different colour etc but actually turning into something else like a monkey into a man i havent seen one bit of evidence imho to prove we did piltdown man turned out to be a pig and lucy well if you look at her shes probably made up of more than one fossil remains and she was a monkey. I can honestly believe dogs came from a variety of wolf type animals and individual breeds are easy to attain with selective breeding but they are still can
  6. Unless your downs syndrome they have an extra gene read a paper years back where they were going to let them breed together to see what the offspring would be like as part of the natural process of evolution as they call it weird or what.
  7. Got to agree colour variation is hardly evolution i turn different colours with the seasons now if the moth had turned into a mouse maybe
  8. Is this hunting life or above top secret deepest rabbit hole ive seen here im also not for evolution taming an animal is nott making it evolve done a fair bit of digging on the tinternet and im all in favour of the genetically modified hypothesesis wether off world or interdimentional i wouldnt know but theres no missing lnks and we have a good bit of dna thats not found on earth if you look at the earliest writings we were a created race and so were the domesticated animals that we live with
  9. Sound job Mark both of the parents were well tested ive said it before and i will say it again i reckon kennys and marcus blood should be a wicked combination atvb bud.
  10. The old chestnut speed or stay give me a fast type anyday something thats putting the pressure on the fast dog will learn to run slow but a slow dog cant learn to run fast
  11. Seen times when ive needed to kill to eat plenty of meat on a good hare back for me rest for the dog
  12. Good links penny was reading a book on hares and it mentioned a sighthound buried at stonehenge 4000 bc a whippet type of all things just shows how much they were treasured in the past as providers and guards atvb.
  13. Cracking dogs lads Ive done my share of both pre ban out for a dinner and out for sport if out for a dinner id let them hunt their own but id go more early and late in the day so the hares are on the move more often than not or at least sat feedingnothing better than watching a dog hunt a field properly but saying that If i was going for sport id go later in the morning in the cold months dinner time and the dogs would be on a slip and the hare given a good start. Ive found running the dogs free helps them slow up quicker than when they are run off a slip only. owned some quick killing
  14. Pups are looking great Mark well put together and in top order great times ahead for you entering them look like theyve plenty of brain and engine room atb with them
  15. Would have thought theyd have been about in the sixties if not earlier first strains of lurcher i grew up with during the seventies were sal/grey and collie mix they were as popular with the locals as much as the deerhound collie types. Cugger Edwards was the man that bred them he went on to buy in a pure about the same time as Russ got prince the sire to eve Cugger bred a lot of first crosses from trevor as well as to a saluki/collie type the pups from which made better animals. There was also a pure that came on newark gypsy site in 75 hed learnt to keep off the runways on aerodromes and
  16. Some good animals lads and a cross i like very much Bred a few litters this way over the years found a lot of variation in the offspring size wise but found that putting the crosses back together they started to breed more uniform cant understand why there not more bred together as by the third generation they are very uniform in type same as f1 saluki/grey would like to see them bred together for a few generations reckon theyd hit the mark much better that the first cross best of luck with your juks
  17. Not one worse but two both bedlington whippets one deaf when it came to commands another that would go to ground at every oppertunity no fun when the places you hunt is full of warrens for it to get into put me off small beddy xs for life atb.
  18. one swallow dont make a summer you cant generalise about all salukis or saluki hybrids being the same given the right upbringing they will do the ferreting game and do it as well as any other type.
  19. Plenty of meat on him Moll Seen a few big sallys over the years biggest i had with my old brindle dog weighed just under 14 pound he took it out the seat seen a fair few big hares taken from forsestry plantations what id class as wood hares and one place i know of still holds a lot of large hares there was a group of kids in a miners village near notts had a huge hare of an experimental farm seen the pic of it hung on an outhouse door ministry heard and came and took it off the lads defintely biggest i ever saw in a pic.
