I had one too pal ? That would be mid to late seventies
-
The only Leicester lads I know at that time was Geoff Smith could easily have been one of his mates ? Lous offspring went everywhere he bred a lot and was always in exchange and mart and local rags we bought our first for fifteen quid most he ever charged as I remember was 25 some of the best deer dogs and lampers were from him and now forty years plus on everyone is breeding coursing dogs to pures history has a habit of repeating itself ?
-
Big Ian bless him ? man made dogs but they made men too ? I wasn't there that day pal.. I knew Ian from a young age was about 14 when I first met him and the thoresby rd lads I joined the club he ran ( we won't mention him nicking all the proceeds ?) He was something else pal he don't lie except to the authority's and he was a very good man when it came to the lurchers and to friends ? Cock of the village and that's no mean feat in Mansfield Woodhouse where he lived ? Ian was special the club had a minibus they bought in and he drove it for lamping to get everyone

Another pic

An F1 out of Trevor and a melin eve pup from the first mating
-
Trevor never did anything on the coursing field to be fair his offspring were hit and miss the F1s Lou bred were no good when it came to the real hares on the black land ? But the lurchers he was bred too hot the high notes especially with the lads doing the deer ? Have witnessed small bitches bred from Trevor that ran fifteen minutes plus on Sherwood forest fallow small bitches with the biggest hearts.. The Mansfield Woodhouse lads kept a strain from him double bred Trevor and for the job I haven't seen many better but they were into earning money not running hare on a gambling
-
Can remember the lizard bud had a skin condition if it's dog I remember But don't know if out of Trevor pal . I ran with Trevor bred lurchers when I started out I know Lou Cuggar Edwards who owned him and hes still about but not into the dogs anymore he bred a lot of stuff out of Trevor the ones to greyhounds were lacking but the ones to lurchers were top drawer on filling a bag especially with the deer sorry I don't know any more ?

When salukis were salukis in the show world
-
Lovely hound that two crows bless ya pal I bet you miss him ?
-
Top pic of proper salukis Mc bless ya ? Threads gone well astray it was about Scouser I will make these last few posts and hope it goes back to him as a hound ? Some great pics of old salukis when they were at their best sadly the Saluki lot mostly women didn't have the foresight to know what a Saluki was bred for and that's it's herding abilities to keep the hare near its owner they ran them as greyhounds and too many didn't know how to condition a hound so they went downhill rapidly from the sixtys and seventies . Don't get me wrong I'm appreciative of what's gone before and I

One of best statements I've ever read Dodger and one that is so important many say don't breed em till they are done but when they pass before their time with accidents etc and you left back at the drawing board it hurts like hell I bet lots have been there I know I have.. Best of luck for the future pal ?
-
We have lost loads pal you could go to Newark on a Sunday morning in the car park across from the castle and there would be loads of lads willing to go for a run happy days and no hassle ? Some good hares near you too ?
-
Thanks again will get researching bud as it's not lineage I know of and that dog in pic is everything you'd want in a pure bred I love the history of these hounds and the old types loads
-
Got you now it's definitely my age pre Alzheimer's I reckon. The chubasco Paul used wasn't typical type I see another breed in there was just wondering if anyone saw what I saw was what I was getting at Tomo ? Some incredible hounds in USA and if I was to import it would be from a strain from there. The old tepe gwara line in the UK coursing dogs still doing the business on the jack's there as John took em back with him have a couple of friends there that do as we do and run them single handed and they run and herd as good as anything we have.. The state's did what the UK
-
Awesome pics Mc ? I believe your right on blue Alwyn owned down from your dad's and he was some dog I had crack with Alwyn he don't rate many and soon passed em on if they were no good he took good money on Blue and regretted parting with him and was pissed off to the max when folk started saying Geoff Smith's Blue lol I didn't know about fly Russ was there when Geoff bought her and no one knew her breeding but Tony Geoff's son may have found out but it was never said which Saluki she was down from but I'm hardly surprised if it wasn't one of your dad's ? No one in Saluki world
-
Thanks loads bud ? Daxlore could run back in the day i like him loads everything about him build and size and I'd have loved to see the outcross pups to him and the Iraqi bitch that sounds some mating.. Ace pic of your old hound proper bit of history bless you loads ?
-
Shouldn't be done ever but I've seen kickups tear the ass out of more than a few hounds ? Ten to get going is the name of the game to be right ? I always run with dog off a slip unless I see one clapped so that's a good question pal ? Them off lead will get the odd kickup but for every one they do there will be four that's lifted at a thousand yards plus what they go on ? It learns em to go up slow ? Matching brings out the worst in man and dog to me hunting brings out the best with all respect to quarry and hound ?
-
Prince the sire to Eve Lilly Lady etc Pure Mcenzie Saluki bred by MC Hulls father Saluki Mac probably the most influential pure bred in the coursing dogs of todays lineage but there is other contenders up and coming Articguns Nero especially ? And to see MCs lad with that bloodline speaks volumes I do love to see history repeating itself atvb
-
Merlin as an old hound not unlike Scouser when he was younger ?
-
History of these lines pures or crosses is everything Tomo I second that and Scouser is very like old merlin that's just awesome to see ? Am still lost pal on what you mean about fifth line down probably my age ?? It doesn't get easier when you get older ?
-
Hey up Tomo glad you ok bud I have kept looking on here from time to time but not posted much ? Which do you mean pal ??
-
Bless you Two crows that's one fine looking animal thanks for letting us see him ? Toes out at the front and back legs out at the back I bet he had drive and could turn on a sixpence a proper sort imho ? Do you know how he was bred he looks like Lou Edwards pure Trevor but a decade earlier glad you had the foresight to see what they offered to a running dog I didn't own any Saluki X's till seventy four and hare was something we did on a Sunday for sport they had to fill a bag same as I bet you did no doubt would love to know more about this one thanks again and biggest respect to you
