They are more smaller shoots here. I was beating yesterday at a 600 acre farm. Not big shoot and only about a 50 bird day. But only 8 guns and had a nice day with pastys and a brace at the end. There is a local partridge shoot here though which shoots 6 days a week and beating is much more formal. But at the smaller ones we just come if we feel like it and its all quite social

1 shot bird here is 25 quid. That is cheap compared to the big shoots up country. But TBH not much of the land down here is keepered

I do my beating in local shoots for 10 pounds without a working gundog, 20 with. Not much money but I really enjoy seeing the spaniels etc work the pheasants (the beating here is mainly done by dog as its not that getable to with people.) And a bit of sport and a shoot at the end of the season. But i enjoy it and I wouldnt care if i got payed nowt. Just think that i need to get payed as im working for the rich boys

Alot of people have asked me how I can easlily kill 40 + rabbits in a day without having a conscience. I dont know how its just I dont have to think when I do it. I remember the first thing I ever killed was a crow on my windowsill when I was about 4-5 i sneaked out my dads airgun, and somehow managed to hit it. But i suppose we must just have harder minds than others

On a par mate a pin is just a pin after all.I did find thow that round ones had to be made(cost) but I made these myself from army trip flair posts which the army tend to leave laying about(free). On hard ground you can knock them in with your boot. if youve given up trad nets, would you fancy selling a pair of your pins mate?

In winter mine are on rabbit, so I can easily keep about 10 ferrets on what I catch. But in summer I will move on a few and rebuy in winter. If they are used to it and are healthy etc on it, then what is the problem?

I think, as long as the ferret is healthy, and working well it doesnt matter. I have an old friend who is in his 70s and has always fed slops. His ferrets are very healthy, and work amazingly. Although people say that feeding slops will cause dihorrea it is not always the case as these shits are fine. I feed mainly rabbit and mine havent had dry food since the summer, but now they will be on dry cat food in summer as the jameswellbeloved is far to expensive...

I see what you mean sue. But alot of people I know feed this stuff, and there ferrets are just as healthy as mine. So I switched from the jameswellbeloved stuff

I try to ride the horse out with the north cornwall hunt as often as I can. To fit in with ferreting etc. Also i think Dytkos off here follows a fair bit. We are all still going as strong as we ever did. Long live hunting, f**k THE BAN

would you swap the whole of ur lamp thing, for the whole of the lamp off my hand held. It has batteries but i will keep em for the gun lamp

try and order it online mate. Or if you find a farmers merchant type place. They will sell 15 Kg bags of dry cat food. About a tenner a bag but lasts a long while and is basically exactly the same as ferret complete just with something like 2% less protien. And if they get the odd rabbit it should suit fine
