  1. Real good reply mate, cheers. I know mysels about training the collie crosses, i was wondering more about other crosses without collie in like beddy and bul crosses, have they got the brains to be easy to train and obedient? I only had one Beddy xs a Beddy whippet, you could train her in your yard, or a quite place, take her to the field, a Hot scent and she was gone, she could be 3 fields away, that was back in the late 60s, this is going to upsett, the Beddy brigade, I have kept running dogs since 1958, to present, and I have NEVER seen or come across, one that I would want to take h

  4. hi keith what happened to your silver jill. john.
  5. don't mean to be soft but "shot" sounds harsh would "put out of it's misery" or "ended it's suffering" or something similar not be a better description,i know how harsh nature is but just feel that when we undertake these cold but necessary acts which it is best to be detatched from we could at least sound a bit human somehow... sorry had to put them out of there misery (shot)
  6. big trevor a like it does he know you have named your ferret after him lol.hows it going keith how did you lose your ferrets i picked a couple up of a lad a couple of months back a speyed albino jill and a small poley gill. atb john.

  11. some jills are very protective and attack but calm down when the kitts are older or gone. had a jill few years back was the softest thing but when she had kitts had to throw the food in the cage when a fed her welders gauntlets to clean her out but once the kitts were older she calmed down to her useual self. john.
  12. Possibly because that type of lurcher suits the owners hunting requirements, also some people are willing to put the time and trouble into sourcing stock from a working background with a proven history in the field.Others will take whatever comes easiest and complain about the end result. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: ive got 2 bedlingtons from working lines and there great.
  13. never mind the dogs a wouldent eat it.
  14. ferrets are lacctose intollerent so they should not be given cow milk.
  15. You say "if they [rabbits] are home but just won't budge she will find them but never kill them". So what does she do sit gaurding the rabbit untill you dig down to her. No she scratches at them while shes down and then hangs around for a while until she comes out with fur on her claws by then we no there down but not budging If she was a stayer then you could have had a few rabbits in a stop end there if you'd dug to it, I had 8 in a stop a couple of years back. Each to their own though rather have a ferret that stayed with the rabbit till i got to it and dug them out.
  16. Would that be based on experience of the breed?,or the usual ignorance?. well said i have a beddy bitch rilliton, gouchcommen and she is the best little worker i have ever had.till she done har back in still likes to get out tho and flush rabbits for the lurcher.
