Update certificate dropped through the door today. It’s been one hell of a wait a total of 387 days from the day of handing the application form in to receiving through the post. From application to home visit was 343 days. From home visit to certificate received was 44 days. Northumbria police. Thank you to everyone on this thread who was helpful and hopeful and encouraged me to go ahead with the application considering having a criminal record of many years ago now. Best advice I would give to anyone reading this in the same position is to be open and

Update FEO came around today nice guy nice informal chat. First thing he wanted to do was check out the security of the cabinet asked me to open it and gave it a couple of tugs happy with the cabinet we sat down ran through the application form asked a couple of questions about my past nothing to intrusive then moved onto safety questions and some general chat about guns and cars all in all lasted about 40 minutes, at the end of the visit I asked what the next step of the application is and he said ‘next step is you wait for your certificate to come through the door’ I then

Perfect thanks reply and for support, yes that was my initial thought if there was any issues with the application surely they wouldn’t arrange a home visit.. hopefully everything goes swimmingly well. I’ll post a update of how I think the visit went in a few days.

Did you have a home visit/cabinet inspection at any point?
-
So a question for you guys that know of people who have been refused. Do you know if they get to the stage of a home visit? I’ve read things where people state that the home visit is the last step of the application and if everything is in order then you’re good to have your license. So my question is do they still do home visit if they know before coming that you’re not going to be successful in getting a certificate? Would seem a waste of time if they are going to refuse your application but still want to come out and do a home visit

Update: received a call today from my FAO scheduling a inspection of the cabinet next week. So overall it’s took 343 days from handing my application in to having the inspection. just a little update to anyone looking for a timescale on how long it may take to process your application with Northumbria police.

Still waiting on the application to be looked at, received a email last week stating they are really busy and are at the moment dealing with March 2022 applications, I handed mine in at the start of July 2022 so I’ve probably still got a few month yet before they even get around to looking at the application. Will keep yous updated as time goes on.

Yeah thanks bud applications in so I’ll just have to play the waiting game now how ever long that may be lol, I can see your from Tyne and Wear yourself and I’m assuming you have your certificate.. how have you found your experience with the Northumbria firearms? Have they been more than fair with you?

Thank you for all the opinions and information on this matter, it’s all greatly appreciate. Yes paddy as much as i hate to admit it I feel the same I would be extremely lucky to receive a cert in my situation I’m just hoping with the time that has passed they may be willing to consider a grant. Welsh thank you for your response too I have come across some of your reply’s to other similar posts in the past so I really appreciate you sharing your experience with me, it has giving me a little more hope than I initially had after reading your posts. Your totally right though it can only be a yes o

Thanks for the reply’s guys. I have submitted a application last week But I’m just trying to get some more information from people who may have been in the same position.. I have around 5 cautions on my record that consist of possession of a offensive weapon, burglary(NFA), found on enclosed premises without lawful reason, drunk and disorderly and improperly importing goods of which prohibited. Now I know it sounds like a lot but it was over the space of a few years and like I’ve said all I’ve received is cautions, never been to jail and again they are all from when I was a teen. It’s bee

Hi. New here, I was just wondering if anyone had recently (in the last year) applied for a SGC with a criminal record I know this has been covered in the past but can’t seem to find anything of more recent about the subject. I’ve had a few run ins with the police in my younger days but those are almost 10 years ago now I’ve now growing up a lot and have settled down to family life. What’s the chances of my application being approved and has anyone been in similar position.
