Anyone on here able to get synulox/noraclav & 100ml bottles of loxicom?
-
That’s it different dogs for different jobs you can’t compare them & it doesn’t make sense to
-
That’s the trouble isn’t it I didn’t think like that when I was younger but now I’d say durability is the most important quality in a dog. It can have all the talent & heart in the world but if it’s injured regular it’s no good that’s the bottom line
-
Don’t worry about putting challenges out to people mate 99% of them would never come off anyway, and end of the day if your dogs better or the other lads dogs better what does it really matter, as long as you’re happy with your own just get out and enjoy it

Was that a saluki x whippet x grey back to a pure? Saw a bitch out of a whippet x grey back to a pure and that was a real decent hare killer
-
You must think I keep bull crosses & run doubled up but you’d be wrong, there’s no bull in my dogs. I’m sure your dogs would show mine a thing or 2 on hares, that’s what they’re bred for it would be strange if they didn’t but when it came to larger edibles they’d be quite a few levels behind. There’s nothing wrong with that as well, pre ban a purpose bred hare dog shouldn’t be expected to show a purpose bred deer dog up at its own game and vice versa
-
You’re not wrong, thing is with lurchers a lot of the time the dog isn’t even anything special it’s just because it’s got a fancy pedigree with well known names, could be a load of shit & people still rush to breed off it
-
I think in a lot of cases people will have an injury prone dog that really shouldn’t be bred from, but they’ll breed from it anyway because they want to make a few quid off pups or stud fees. Either that or they just can’t admit the dogs no good and start again so it’s easier to pretend it’s all fine, breed from it and just put up with them being injured half the season

Pals of mine seen Romeo run and said he had a bad mouth himself so must come from somewhere, but I’ve not seen him myself so can’t say for certain if he did or not but dogs I seen out of him definitely had bad feet & bad mouths. You seen many of the dogs in his pedigree run?
-
The ones I saw had bad mouths as well to be honest wanted to run hares for a week, but might have just been the ones I saw but it did seem to be a running fault through them all

I’m no expert on coursing dogs but everything I seen direct out of that Romeo had bad feet, not bad shaped feet but they all suffered from sore nail beds, if it was just 1 or 2 of them then you could say fair enough might be coincidence but I must’ve seen half a dozen out of him that had it, bad genetics in my book I wouldn’t breed out of a dog that carried that on to its pups
-
I think a lot of earlier dogs were tougher in general, less toe injuries or torn muscles etc, didn’t see many retired young from injury but see it all the time in recent years

Mooching-Hill or backs dogs as we called them

Best hunting experiences of my life have been on hills & mountains, not for foxes but that sort of terrain is a real test of men and dogs -
Im not usually a pure saluki fan but that’s a nice looking pup, does he just use them for coursing or do a bit of other things with them as well?
-
Bitch I’ve got at the moment is as hardy as they come in my book been ran on some of the worst places you can think of and rarely gets knocked, but I know myself she wouldn’t be catching many of them Spanish hares because when the grounds hard she steadies right up, I could sit on here and lie and say she’d kill a bag full because I know I’d never have to do it but what’s the point in that, they’ve all got faults even the best of dogs
-
None of these were badly reared I know the lads personally that had them just bad genetics saw it with my own eyes, sore nail beds, torn muscles, knocked up toes etc. I’m not anti saluki I’ve got a bit of it in my dogs as well but it’s not a given that saluki bred dogs will be durable definitely not
-
Seen it with my own eyes pals of mine have had em out of Romeo, Jamie, scouser etc spend more time injured than running, and that’s on good land, they’d fall apart on land like those Spanish dogs run. Obviously not saying all of them are like that I’ve seen tough ones as well but I’ve known of just as many that were fragile, could all catch hares but were injured too often to get them properly fit, that’s why I prefer them crossed but that’s another story
-
I think those galgo’s could improve the coursing stuff from over here to be honest. From what I’ve seen on them videos they could add a bit of robustness that’s been lost, you wouldn’t get many current UK coursing dogs running on that dry ground I don’t think, not for long anyway
-
Can see all the dust being kicked up when the bitch is running, I think if UK dogs were asked to run on ground like that you’d see a lot more jackers over here as well to be fair
-
No not red stags definitely not. Red hinds, prickets & mature fallow bucks though yeah
-
I’ve seen & owned dogs myself that’ll take big fallow & reds single and not just as a one off either, daytime as well. So they didn’t take everything & they weren’t “all rounders”. Just handy dogs that took a variety, not crabbing or anything just making a point if you say a dog takes everything it really should mean everything or it’s misleading
