Yes, I had a Cairn for 16 years and was she a good worker. The lad I bought her from wanted a fox dog and said this Cairn was only good after rabbits in thick cover, he wanted rid and as I wanted a rabbit dog and took her on. When we were out the people thought she was a ladies lap dog, "cute" and quite small. After about a week or two I went out with some guys and they wanted fox, this was my introduction and I was hooked. She went in no trouble and from that day on I had loads of fox. She was only bitten once by a very large dog fox, which I shot, but we had three full grown from that o

I really think you should stay in school as you will need some qualifications whatever trade you decide on. Then you will need to go to college to be successfull in your chosen trade. Just stay at it a little longer and it will be worthwhile in the long run. Dont rush now, there has been some good advice offered to you through this forum. Good Luck for the future.

I use 2 " mesh with hemp over a piece of hardboard. I think you normally stick with the one you were taught with if it gives no problems, this has always been fine for me. Good luck.

I take it your looking at wooden handles ? I think there are only two to choose from, a straight shaft and one slightly curved at the tapered end, then its whether you prefer a tee handle or a "D" handle. Good luck Hope you get sorted.

Once given "Soap on a Rope" from mother in law , the box was yellow with age and the soap was very iffy..... Do none of them like us son in laws ?

I must agree with ianrob. I aint had ferrets for a long while now, but I never used a locator, never lost a ferret. Its not a race, take your time and enjoy the day.
