  1. All very good and true Tina. Reminds me of one day when I was climbing a tree, and mum shouts "don't you come running to me with a broken leg"!!
  2. Hello ace trapper, welcome to the forum. I was in Wisconsin myself in July,at the EAA Airventure in Oshkosh. I had never been before, but enjoyed it very much, and hope to be back in 2009. Although we were all there for the aircraft event, a couple of us were shooters, and thought it looked like good huntin/fishin/shootin type of country. The locals we met were very friendly,we chatted to one chap in Walmart because he had amongst his tins of beans etc, a big box of 12 bore shells in his trolley. That's what I call a "one stop shop".
  3. Have a quick look back to page 3 of this section. Thread is "CCI shotshell rimfire rounds". There is a photo and some general info, license required etc.
  4. I have a BSA Meteor, Bought it new in 1968, it has no butt plate. It,s a .177 and cost £8!! Having a party for it's 40th next year.
  5. normally when you buy a NV unit, it comes with the IR attached to it, yes you can use the nv, without the ir, but think you'd have a time trying to spot the rabbits, the IR gives you the edge, by lighting up the rabbits eyes, someone with more knowledge on the subject would be able to tell ya more Thanks for the information so far Stubby,I am now a bit better than clueless as I was before!
  6. I think all the Eley stuff had IMI for Imperial Metal Industries(I have always thought) on it. If yours says Irish MI and Kynoch,it may be a rare one. I have some info somewhere, but I think it's years since Kynoch went on any cartridges. Save it sounder, it may be of interest to a collector.
  7. Right, thanks for that Stubby. So as part of the night vision equipment, you need a Infra-red lamp mounted on the scope too? Can you see reasonably with just the green NV scope,or is the IR a must have? Never used any of this stuff you see, usually have a lamp working buddy if I am out at night.
  8. Going back to the starter of this thread, has moletrapper located any shotshells yet? The old BSA my lad has is classed as a shotgun,as it is now smoothbore. It's a single shot bolt action. He buys the shells for it on a shotgun ticket. I was talking to our firearms officer at the end of September, when I had my renewal visit. He was happy about the arrangement, and never mentioned the shotshells needing a FAC.
  9. Stubby, that sounds like an Anschutz rifle. The Suzuki 4WD motors are very capable off road, just that being on the small side, you can't tow much or get a lot inside. I have had Suzukis for years. Cheap to run and very reliable. I am interested in the night vision scopes, but also shoot in daytime. Can these scopes be used for day and night,or do you have to swap scopes? Were you not using any lamps at all? So if no lamps, the NV scope has to be used to see the bunnies at all? What is IR ?
  10. Well as I've said before, the ethnics are not all bad,and some of them are embarrassed by the shite our PC brigade come out with, regarding ways to not upset them, merry christmas signs for instance. Now I don't feel insulted when I drive through the area with happy diwali signs everywhere, so why should merry christmas bother a muslim/hindu/sikh/ etc??? Seems to me this "multiculture society" as they call it is simply us locals putting up with all the others, there is little integration actually attempted. I can get on with anybody, but still hold the view, that ethnics who are not prepared to
  11. I'm not sure if there is such a problem with the muslims. We have fanatics and nutters of our own sure enough, so these fundamentalists and religious extremists are a small percentage of them -----I hope. What really gets my back up is these creeping slime balls of any party in parliament, and moreso on local councils who are supposed to be our countrymen. Some of them seem to spend all their waking hours thinking of things we should not do,so as not to offend our ethnics. I have a Jamaican mate, if you ask him how he takes his coffee, he says "BLACK" mate, none of this "with milk,or without
  12. Mole trapper, my lad has only a shotgun ticket, and he can purchase these shotshells on it. You should confirm with your firearms officer, I should think it would be the same everywhere. Any shotshells we have (only about 6 right now) do not go in my 600 .22RF allowance. Trappa, I have not fired any through a rifled barrel, only my lads bored out BSA,but I would think as there is a lot of little balls, they will spread, just like a shotgun. If your moderator is still on, you will damage it, even though it's only about No. 12 shot. The BSA has a shot pattern about 18" across at 20 feet.

    Would like to

Merry Christmas to you Molly. I enjoyed the white christmas musical card. I just expected someone to creep over a snow mound and drill one of the reindeer!!
  14. My lad has a old BSA single shot .22 bolt action on a shotgun ticket. It's an old rimfire rifle with the rifling removed. A local guntrader sells quite a few of these, various makes of course. Cheap, and just the job for removing small birds and rodents from a friends grain store without perforating the roof!! My lad has used the CCI but reckons the Remingtons, which are an all brass crimped end case just go that bit better. Probably a bit more pressure build up than the transparent plastic ended ones. Quick edit, got myself mixed up with rimfire rounds, been trying several types this week
  15. Welcome to the site spadger(thats a slang name for sparrows round here) There's some good stuff on here, and people seem very helpful. If you want help or opinions on anything from a Lanber to a Land Rover or Labrador you can get it here. Only just joined myself, but enjoying it.
  16. Apologies if this has been asked before, I have had a look around without any luck. I need a 5 shot magazine for a CZ .22LR,does anyone know where I can get one. Seems pointless setting up an account at the factory for just the one item. I suppose the local gun shop would order one, but is there a quicker direct source? I agree with all the above comments,I have a CZ 513,very basic but functional and reliable. It does all I want anyway.

    Alsations

My last GSD bitch was called "Lacey",she had the softest mouth, and could retrieve raw eggs with ease as a little party trick. Mind you, I was really cruel to her at times, I would give her a whole digestive biscuit! Her face was a picture, as she carried it to her bed. The biscuit would still be there half an hour later, unless someone broke it up for her.

    New Union Jack

I saw just the other day on tv, a union flag with the red dragon in the top left quarter. My daughter was drying her hair with the world's loudest dryer, so I actually heard nothing that was said. You may well be right that it's a spoof aled. But,it may have given someone idea's??

    Alsations

There was a lady who used a GSD for retrieving, among other things. My brain will not recall her name yet, think she lived in Ireland. She was one of the breeds old stalwarts who considered the breed (quite rightly)too versatile for just showing or guarding. My experience with the GSD goes back to 1969 ish. I have met one or two "wrong 'uns", but in the main they are fine biddable dogs. Bad owners, and inadequate prats who buy them for street cred must take the blame for the problem dogs. Their history begins as far back as 1899,when Rittmeister Von Stephanitz, organized the breeding programme
  20. Thanks twins, so there's only one of you. The Honda Africa twin is a superb machine, need longer legs than mine to ride one though!!
  21. I have a mate, recently bought a new 110. Big improvement over the last one (he still did 157000 in about 6 years). It has very comfy seats, a Transit TD engine with 6-speed box. No probs yet,it's done 5000 miles now. He did say he'd have to take it back to see why it didn't let in as much rainwater as it should!!

    new boots

Yes, I go with the muck boots spudlington. I have never had cold feet since getting mine. I do get called "Compo" a lot 'cause I wear them turned down.

    Alsations

Wow,frightening Raider. So glad your dogs are ok. I am a fan of Alsatians, had them for years, although don't have one now. They are superb dogs if brought up and trained right. We never had any problems with ours, they could be trusted with any small animals, babies etc. Sounds like these two may have been "junk yard dogs" who had got out. Hope they get caught. Blame the bloody owners.
  24. Sheepskins!! Must go to the opticians soon, I thought the one on the left was a little elephant!!!! Anyway, while we are asking questions Twins, is there two of you? Are you a twin I mean. Or is it the "twin skins"?
  25. Yes, spot on leegreen. So much of some bird seed mixes is left behind, like lentils etc. Works out cheaper to feed just what the birds like so no waste. I get chipped peanuts, loads of sunflower hearts and a handful of sunflower seeds to make it look a bit more interesting. I feed niger in a feeder with little holes, so only the finches with pointy beaks can get it. Some nice pics scottishlass, you get a similar mix of birds to me. The woodpecker knocks hell out of fatballs. Small moan -- you really need a fatball holder, like a loose coiled spring, only a couple of quid. The green netting can
