Baldie, (I love the new avatar). You are right about Mollie being missed, as a relative newcomer I soon picked up on Moll posting a lot of sense coupled with good humour. Hope she returns eventually?

Some great sayings on here, I have taken ages to read them, eyes full of tears!! One or two more. "Tha could ride bare arse to London on that". (Criticizing a blunt knife) She/ He's as mad as a box of frogs. It's cold enough for a walking stick!

Awesome?? I thought it was total crap. They were shooting birds just as they were landing right in front of the hides, and having a good laugh about it. One was hit at least 5 times. Most of the shot birds were so hard hit they were pet food. Respect for your quarry?? These twats don't have any. This is just the sort of video the anti's love.

Sorry to hear of this. It's a problem that does seem to be growing with certain dog types. Very worrying. I live around DE23 and will be keeping a good look out.

Hello Nighthawk, just read your crap new member post!! (Only kidding mate, it covers nicely what you do). Your about the same as me, shoot clays, bash bunnies with a .22 etc. Welcome to the site, plenty of help and advice to be had here. Enjoy your stay.

Hi Baldie, I hoped you would pick this up. The "farmer" is in current production, It's the bottom rifle on the CZ site page for the rimfire range. Although mine is not new, I expect it hasn't changed. I will try to post a picture or two later, when my daughter is around. They do say on the CZ info that the trigger is different to the rest of the range. I suppose it is to make it cheaper, as it's a sort of utility rifle. Pity that CZ didn't try to economize somewhere else, and fit the normal set up.

For drawing out splinters and thorns etc I always use a plaster with magnesium sulphate paste on it . Usually works ok, a jar of mag. sulph. is only a few pence at any chemist.

Thanks for the replies lads. I think rimfiremagic is where "Baldie" works. I will get in touch with them next week,I'm at work all weekend.

One of my rabbiting guns is a CZ 513 "Farmer". It's a basic "no frills" .22rf and is meant to be a reliable and cheap to keep piece of kit. Now I am happy with it in the main, but it's fair to say the trigger is not it's best feature. Does anyone know if there is an upgrade kit to suit it? I know the trigger is different to the rest of the CZ range, and I have been unable to find anything suitable advertised myself.

Now the police around here (and where you live too probably) are targeting number plates that have been tweaked. They are stopping and warning people with script type plates, bent digits, bolts used as dots on i's etc. Incorrect spacing, and anything that makes it difficult to discern what the registration actually is. Now I don't want to start another racial rant here, but what are the chances of the two turban clad gents i saw in a drophead Rolls being stopped? The registration? MR SINGH !! I kid ye not.

Hope he never tries to join this forum!! Tinted ed lightz?? I think you can get a lotion to cure that!!

I don't think you will have a problem. As long as your chamber length is ok (you probably have 3" anyway?) and very little choke is used, cylinder or I/Cyl. The slug is rifled (usually) lead, so no need for steel shot proof barrels etc.

All you diesel drivers are probably using some bio-diesel already without realizing. The govt. allows the petrol companies to blend in up to 10% of bio oil into diesel without advertising the fact. Most are only adding about 5% at present, and it is usually new oil, not reclaimed chip oil. It can come from anywhere, and be produced from any oil bearing crop, like palm oil, rape seed etc.

Used to see a chap turn up on a motor bike at a clay shoot near here, in the summer anyway!! He gave the gunslip straps a bit of help by tying some light rope round the outside top and bottom for extra support. Later, he changed to a "take down" case in a long-ish rucksack, reckoned it was safer, and it balanced better too.

That is amazing. I always thought Sturgeon were about 3 feet long at the most!! Glad it gets to live to be caught another day.

It's still £150 too much Deker. Still, if you want the service history and the warranty to be honored you just have to pay up and smile weakly!! Some places charge £100 for just an oil and filter job, so perhaps it doesn't sound too bad? An annual service on my Suzuki is about £125, cheapo eh?

Some good advice there from Greg and Jamesy. It's all a matter of keeping the noise low and distant, while the dog gets used to it. We use a 6mm short blank pistol from the next field to start off. Thank goodness the "fire a couple of supergame above it's head" method seems to be going away.

I have read your favorite quotation earlier this week. There is an article in The Field from last November, about Denys Watkins-Pitchford,better known by his pseudonym "BB". He wrote in various shooting publications, and used this quote (copied from a grave in Cumberland) to preface his books. Very nice words,I wonder who originally wrote it?

I would join in if a bulk order does go in. I need a 10 shot and a 5 shot, both steel and .22LR.

Yesterday, just about dusk,a long tailed tit dropped onto my fat ball feeder, and was quickly joined by another.I just happened to be looking down the garden. They stayed a short while then flew off,but at least I have now doubled my record for them!! Too dark for a picture really, but I only have a compact so the results would not be like a doxhope shot. Keep them coming please.

Well,I dunno MC. I have just seen your original post, and that pike looks a big beggar to me. The PM was quite complimentary to you, until the last bit about you over stating the weight. If that PM had been on the open forum instead,You would have probably just thought it a joke?

I agree with the "teenager" description. You do not want a depressed gundog,so as has been said, short lessons, end on a good note etc. Try to keep that happy dog outlook, and use it to your advantage. We sometimes train for just 5 minutes during a casual walk, after the initial "whoopedoo,we are out on a walk"lunacy has passed. Then walk a bit further, and do something else. Drop a dummy unseen at the side of the path, walk on a bit,say only 30 yards. Send the pup back, big fuss etc when it finds it. Have fun,and be sure you are clear in your own mind, what it is you are trying to teach the dog, befo

Not a bad little video that. It is certainly a very capable machine. I would have preferred to hear the engine noise than the rap-crap though!!

Hi Mars, when you ask this sort of question, you are liable to get lots of different opinions, based on what folks have used before. I also like the Colways for cheap and cheerful, but most serious Land Rover people will recommend BFG. The B F Goodrich AT is said to be the best all-round tyre for 4x4 use. Coopers are also getting popular,(www.coopertire.com.) As you live in Staffordshire, you could visit Bronco 4x4 in Leek, or John Craddock at Cannock, or Formula 4x4 in Stone. Have a look at what they have, all carry a large stock and will fit them for you. I can't personally be bothered with inte

I agree with deker, any of the Beretta 68 series would be a good gun to own. My own preference would be the 686,because they just feel right. My mate has a 682 gold "E",it's a superb gun,but I would not swap a 686 for it. Just have a "feel"at all the range and see what grabs you most.
