Some interesting old cartridges there bobndog. Are they your "swaps" from a collection, or are you like me? Keep saying one day, I'll make a display case for these!!! Is that a war dept "SG" for home guard at the front?

Try wearing a pair of safety spec's and put a small paper dot, like you get from a hole punch, in the centre of the lens (dominant eye). That way you keep both eyes open and it gives the weaker eye a chance . I have heard this method works .So please don't anyone have a pop at me for a daft suggestion Daft suggestion? Nope, it's spot on. My son had to shoot like this for a couple of years. My mate's young (15) daughter shoots clays with about a 12mm sticky disc on her left glasses lens. You need to put the glasses on, then get someone to centre the sticker right on the centre of the

I think Guevara is just a young chap who is too impatient to try everything. He could do with a local mentor to show him the way. He has put up some opinionated posts, but I just put it down to lack of experience. He will be fine in another 20 years!!

My mate purchased a (slightly) used Tactical Lightning yesterday, and brought it to work to show. (We were on night shift and not too busy). We set up a 30 yard indoor range and put a few through it. Two clicks up and four clicks left, and it just put all the .177 pellets in the middle. It did not kick overmuch, and not too noisy. If I were to be buying a new air rifle now, it would be one of these. You could carry it around all day.

Interview now an underkeeper!!!
Geoff.C replied to stork's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Best of luck tomorrow Stork. Just be yourself and be honest. I'm sure you will do well. -
I've been to Cockets farm once, to take a chap from work for a go. He lives in Blidworth so it was nearest. Lowes Lane, Swarkestone is better for new shooters. Have you tried Doveridge? It's not too expensive, and you go out alone or with a mate. You get a "claymate" button box which you plug in on any stand. Click "delay" if you go alone, or if with a mate, you "button" for each other. Try skeet, sporting, or DTL, you can spend all morning on one stand if you want. Pay for the clays indicated on the claymate display. Don't be shy, everyone was a beginner once! Most clay shooters are generally

Yup, same here zap. The bloody air is filled with hormones.

Two whole hours eh? Well no one can say you didn't try it then!!

I asked about these tracers at my local gun dealer. He didn't have any, but says "Rottweil" still supply them. If you can find a seller of these shells, they may have or be able to get some tracers for you.

Beretta black onyx, Webley 1790,Krieghoff gold super, any of those ring a bell?

If golf is indeed pointless, then so is every other game played with balls of any shape. I was told by my late dad, (probably not original) but he said, never knock another blokes sport unless you have tried it. I have tried golf for a couple of years, but I just didn't improve so decided to give up. I still savour the memories of the odd really good shot I made. The clubhead getting full clean contact and the ball rising rapidly to descend 200 yards away.I also used to play rugby, still have the scars to prove it.

Yes, well said Kay. What bit I have been able to glean from the odd news item, the police are no nearer finding her either. They may have info which is not being published, due to having a suspect, but that is supposition or maybe wishful thinking. I would not sleep if it were my daughter.

Wow! Fancy letting a Denby-ite have a shotgun ticket!! Just kidding mate, welcome to the forum. Lots of help and advice on here when you need some. Where do you go shooting clays?

Had a quick trawl on "Guntrader". There is three Browning Silver models on there, One at £325, one at £425 and one at £505. You can only assess the real worth of any of them by looking and handling. Some are lightly used and some all wobbly and worn out. You have probably paid a reasonable price for yours really. You have already expressed a preference for a auto, so why not just use it and gain experience with it. Should it develop a fault in the first couple of months, just take it back and ask nicely to have it put right. Regular auto users often talk about 1000's of rounds a year with

Just checked on a mates multi choke Browning, this morning. They mark their chokes 1 to 5, with 5 being the skeet choke, then it's 1/4 = 4 notches, 1/2 = 3 notches etc up to 1 = full choke. So you have a skeet, a 1/2 & a 3/4. You can use any of these for clays or game, it is a matter of what you are shooting at, cartridge type and whether the target is coming to you or going away.

Say what you like pal. I'm english born but of welsh stock. I support the taffies, always have done.

Most high towers are about 30 feet. There are one or two 120 foot monsters possibly even higher, not round here though. To shoot the average tower, I use 1/4 choke and blot out the clay. As the clay disappears behind your barrels, pull the trigger and keep the gun moving. If you can still see the clay or you "poke" at it (stop the gun) when you fire, you will miss behind, even though the shot spread will be about 3-4 feet, depending on the cartridge you use.

Done it,quite painless!! I support our troops, even though I think we have no business putting them all in danger, for a couple of god forsaken countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. The government should have kept us out of it. Who are the numpties in Peterboro. that have been getting at uniformed RAF lads? Are they locals or migrant worker types? Or is it made up by TV to pad the news out?

Heh Heh!! Looks like those grundies smell so bad the old bloodhound doesn't want to scent them. The deputy at the back looks mean, it's not a shoot to kill search is it?? Keep on running stabs.

On their fixed choke guns, Browning stamp the choke code on the left side, rear end of the barrel. This may be found on your chokes, but I don't know for definite. You picture link does not work. Anyway, the list is = * = Full *- = Improved modified (full minus a bit, or our 3/4) ** = Modified (like our 1/2) **- = improved cylinder (1/4 ish) **$ = skeet *** = true cylinder Hope you can find some marks on the side of the chokes, as you say there is no notches in the end. Barrel sizes can be (depending on the maker) anywhere from .719" to .730" maybe even bigger in these days of ba

You don't mention if she is a fussy or difficult feeder. If she will eat anytime, I would give her three meals a day, breakfast, lunch and tea. You would need to adjust the times a bit if she was going out working. Definitely include boiled rice and pasta with the meaty things. My collie looked like a cruelty case until she was about two and a half, we used to give her the three meals and if she would have it, a bit of supper before bed. Little chance of running off the effects of bed time food.

Hello Danny, Welcome to the forum. Plenty of like minded people on here. Lots of help and advice should you need it.

If it has no notches in the front (in between the drive slots where the tool fits) it may be a skeet or cylinder choke. Mine is like this. The others are 4 notches = 1/4 choke 3 notches = 1/2 choke, 2 = 3/4 choke and 1 = full choke.

Hi baldie, I see you have replied with more info already. Thank you for that. Bit of delay getting the pictures,so as I have done them, I may as well post them anyway, so anyone interested can see the old trigger. As you say, I will probably improve it better by getting another rifle!

Great pictures mad al. Buzzards always seem to be too high for good pics unless you have a monster lens. (Which I don't). Had a superb "buzzard moment" last week, we were spending a long weekend around the forest of dean. Had been looking at distant goshawks from a rspb viewpoint at "New Fancy", then moved on. Just about to pass under an old single arch railway bridge, 12' 6" clearance, and a buzzard passed over the car and flew above us but under the bridge. I think he was no more than four feet above the car, a real "get the camera" panic but too late. He turned right and landed in a tree by
