John, this may seem a stupid question, but I bet I am not alone wondering what you will do with a gallon of fish oil? Apart from possibly soaking a lure for a drag hunt, I don't have any other idea's. Can you tell us what you plan?

The new 4x4 magazine (April) has a road test on a Legacy Outback TD. They don't give any info as to when it will be on sale, the one they test is a left hooker on european plates. They give it a good write up anyway, and quote the price £21495 to £23495 so it may be around soon. A Subaru that can wring nearly 50 mpg in normal driving is novel. The best bits though are 258 lbs/ft of torque @ 1800 revs, and an emission reading of 153 g/km which puts it in band D. So road tax will not be too heavy, even with the proposed rate rises over the next two years. They say the Forester and Impreza will

Hi provarmint, welcome to the site.

Welcome. What should I do Now?
Geoff.C replied to monkie75's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Sorry I mean its pitted and worn. Well, if the rest of the gun is ok. Do like gary said and get it re-barreled. Read the article at the top of this section by baldie, then you will bed it in properly and have a gun that should do you for years. -
Not much real detail about yet. There are just bits on the net and papers. They are sticking with the flat 4 configuration and so it will be the worlds first flat 4td. To maintain the Subaru low bonnet line the intercooler is slung under the engine. If I read it right, the Impreza will be out in April, then the Legacy will be seen at Frankfurt in October. As Subaru have split from GM the potential market for this unit is small, so I would expect to see it in all the range. Some other manufacturer may take interest if and when the engine proves itself. Rumour has it that the engine has been 25

My mum used to bake her own bread. When the loaf came out of the tin, she used to hold it by the top and hit the bottom with the 2nd knuckle of her middle finger. She could tell by the sound if the loaf was cooked. Try it Kay, you will soon tell the right sound and feel. Hard to explain on here really.

Hello Martyn, welcome to the forum. There should be plenty on here to interest you.

There are getting more electric motor assisted cycles about now, but I don't think there is much petrol stuff. I can't remember the name but I think there is one which drives the rear wheel by roller pressure on the tyre. There used to be the 1970's Raleigh "Wisp",which was a small wheeled bike with engine. Probably the one which was most common, was the "cyclemaster",an engine mounted in a reinforced wheel, which you fitted in place of the normal wheel. A throttle lever was mounted on the 'bars. As kids we used to call them "stinkwheels", a bunch of us got a bollocking off a policeman for belti

tick removal tool. everyone should have this.
Geoff.C replied to gsi2000stokie's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I lost a stainless spring loaded, claw type tick remover and cannot find another. I have a cheapie plastic version off e-bay, but to be honest, it works just as well. All these tools should ensure you don't squeeze the contaminated blood back into the host. The old "burn the bum with a fag,and twist it off by hand" used to terrify me!! -
Me too Ratman, I still have an old Meteor that I bought brand new (£8 in 1968 I think). It's still a lovely smooth shooting gun, just great for a plink in the garden.

£35000 a year for Bea? A lot of folks would like to be earning that much for working 40-50 hours a week!! If she plays her cards right, Bea will never have to work anyway. Hopefully, mum will be generous with pocket money out of her 25 million.

Neutrogena and E45 are both very good, but any hand cream is beneficial. You just need to use it regularly, BEFORE your hands start to be sore and skin splits. I use hand cream every day, even in summer, putting it on just before bed. My late dad also swore by the value of marmite on toast, (if you like it). He reckoned the vitamins were good for your skin, treating it from inside. When dad was a P.O.W. he said they could buy marmite off the chinese travelling traders, and used to rub it into sores and wounds caused when playing with the big train set the Japs gave them.

Ditch, you are a master at telling these little stories. I cried reading it this morning, and nearly as bad now. I wrote a post this a.m. but site maintenance binned it.

I was reffering to angling on the banning of lead shot which you will find i am right on that one. . Yes, dead right greengrass. Being a shooter rather than a angler (well not for years anyway), I only thought about lead from the shooting point of view. Main thing is, we all want to see the countryside clean and tidy. I stopped yesterday on a quiet lane and picked up 5 lucozade bottles all lying together. They didn't all congregate their by accident, some dick must have pulled up and "tidied his car". When people can do this sort of thing, I really wonder how (or if) their mind works.

The bags themselves are not the problem. It's people's careless disposal of them which causes unsightly messes and danger to wildlife. We recycle all ours as bin liners, and I suppose would have to buy a roll of bin liners if carriers were no more. The ones from Tesco seem to be degradeable, I keep a bag of rags in the garage, and have to replace the bag periodically as it deteriorates into shreds. I too hate to see them blown into hedges, but I also hate old beds, fridges, bags of household waste and old chairs in the hedges too. And note to Greengrass, lead shot is not banned, only where you

Stainless or not stainless that is the question!
Geoff.C replied to iorri's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I have no experience of stainless moderators, but would assume they still have to be cleaned out periodically anyway? Mine is mild steel, with some sort of phosphate coating, which will prevent rust unless it gets scratched off. I certainly don't clean it after every outing, but perhaps once a month. Just screw the endcap off, and a load of baffle washers and tension springs comes out. All will be caked with a greeny-grey deposit,I suppose it's powder residue. I just brush the residue off the parts, scrub the tube with a bottle brush and let it all dry. Then re-assemble it with a little copper -
You will not need to spend all your budget on a semi-auto. You may well be surprised how reasonable some of them are. Opinions will vary, but for my money, anything engraved "Beretta" will do you very well.

Mongo, I see you are in Wales, so my local shop who always stocks these shotshells is not convenient for you. There is a 3 page thread about them which you may find of interest? Search for CCI shotshell Rimfire round,(In the rimfire ,centre fire and shotgun section) it's from when Moletrapper had the same prob as you.(No ammo)

For a nice light load, I use Express HV 24 grm, I have not found them wanting at my clay club, they will break any target, as long as I do my bit right. There is one clay club,(can't just remember where) where steel shot is compulsory, I think it's to do with the wetlands around it. Although a lot of new guns are "steel proof", most steel shot is contained in a plastic wad, so there is no barrel contact. Our club has a fibre wads only ruling, so that could cause problems as the committee is thinking about steel as a cheaper alternative to lead. Steel is safe to use on clays but targets like

Opinions are bound to be divided on this timjim, but for my money, you have done the right thing. Have fun.

The little orange "engine" icon, seems to be used by all the manufacturers now. It means there is a problem with engine electronics, the lack of power you experienced is the ECU putting the control of the engine into "limp home" mode. This literally allows you to limp home without being able to drive hard and perhaps damage something. Stopping and switching off is resetting it to normal. There is probably not a real fault, but a sensor problem or bad connection giving a quick bit of bad feedback to the ECU causing it to go to "limp mode".

Yes, very well done the taffies. Although english born, I feel a spiritual Welshness and always support the Wales team. My mum's folks came to the midlands from Llanelli. I also have relations in Anglesey, Ffestiniog and Porthmadog. Cymru am byth!!
