Because most of the land that I have permission on is no good for ferreting But there’s rabbit activity so I wanted to hit it with a lamp to have a go

Yeah I’m 16 and I’ve had an air rifle since I was probably around 9 but a cheap spring one that I used on rats and now I’ve got an s410 and ferrets and want to start properly going out.My dad and grandfather used to go out shooting foxes and sometimes rabbits but my grandfather has gone too old and my dad too busy but I wasn’t alive or I was too little when they used to go hunting so that’s a shame

I’ve got a vizsla but i don’t think she’s fast enough, it would be nice to have a lurcher or something but I was thinking of getting them with an air rifle

I’ve never been lamping before and know much about it but when you go lamping should you put the red filter on or not.Because it’s hardest to see with the red filter but isn’t that invisible to animals? And then the normal light isn’t that good because it blinds the rabbits or makes them confused? I pointed my lamp up a field from my house so there was no other way of me scarring the rabbit but when I put the lamp on the rabbit it ran away but how is lamping possible if the rabbits run away as soon as they see the light? I don’t know anything about lamping and I’m just trying to find out a bi

Thanks so much everyone I managed to get one collar working, the other one never worked and I had the batteries head first because when they arrived the batteries were head first and it worked head first when I first got it but then it stopped working like that and when I was putting it on the magnet nothing was happening so I switched the batteries around thanks to that picture that was sent and I had no idea about the magnet so thanks everyone who mentioned that I hope it keeps working and I’ll see how it gets on

Ok I’ll try and get them eating fresh rabbits and I’ll keep trying them and I’ll see how they do.So what happens now when they’re young and don’t know what they’re doing when they meet a rabbit in a hole? Do they ignore it or haven’t they got the power to get it to bolt or something because you’d think ferrets running through rabbit holes would send the rabbits out

The farm that I went to today I’m going shooting there with the farmer Friday night so I’ll have some rabbits then but they’ve eaten fresh rabbit roadkill and I don’t drive because I’m 16

I went ferreting for a couple hours and I found 10 holes in the middle of a field with fresh droppings and they were fresh holes and I let my 2 hobs run through there for a good 45 minutes with nothing.And later there was a field with short grass in because the rabbits had been eating it all and droppings everywhere, and up in some Gorse and some trees that weren’t too thick there was quite a lot of holes and droppings so I netted one set of holes that looked fresh, nothing so I netted another lot of holes but still nothing. Were there no rabbits home or are my ferrets not bolting them? Becaus

I bought them as working and I didn’t know it was broke I thought I needed new batteries so I ordered new batteries and now I can’t get it to work

Where the dot is on the collar is it meant to go in like a button? Because there’s no button or anything on my collar and it doesn’t press In it’s just a picture of a dot and 2 arrows

I have the locator and 2 collars and when they first arrived one on the collars didn’t work and the other did but when I tried it the other day none of them worked and now I’ve tried everything like putting the both dots together and swiping them but nothing works and this is after new batteries. (I live in the Aberystwyth Area)

I’m swiping the collar on the bottom of the locator but nothing is happening

Yes it’s squealing like mad but not working

I’m using the right batteries, they’re in the right way and I’ve tried both ways and when I turn the locator on it makes on single little click
