  1. i used my terrier whos recall is good and lurcher learned off him, plenty of fuss when he comes back and get down to pups level always helped get him in faster, can we see a pic of the pup sounds a nice cross to me.
  2. 90% of my time out hunting is mooching so I do often wonder how the vizla x would of got on and I’m more interested to see how she turned out looking as a dog, you could hardly tell she wasn’t straight vizla in my opinion. No complaints from me tho I’m very pleased with my pup. I totally agree with you tho I do wonder why people don’t often breed other dogs than them to sight hounds unless it’s been tried and failed…. I’m new to the Lurcher game so lots to learn. any pics of the spaniel Lurcher I’d like to see that?!
  3. Terrible story but describing the dog as black and ginger? wtf
  4. There’s nothing to run on here I don’t think you’re thinking of this place. Someone’s messaged me asking if it’s Runcorn but it’s not
  5. I understood it all mate, interesting read thanks for the response
  6. Cheers Poxon I do totally agree. Just had me thinking about that cross and how the pup ended up.
  7. Yes mate got a beddy Lurcher and wouldn’t swap him for ewt but I’d of liked to add her to my gang
  8. Has anyone ever seen this cross and know if they can work?? Before I got my pup last March I missed out on a pup this breeding, I was gutted at the time lovely looking pup, it was a blessing in disguise as my Lurcher was half the price and he’s now catching rabbit at 10 months and overall doing great and a nice companion, but I stop and think about the pup I missed and what could of been from time to time. next to nothing at all on Google about the cross cheers, Sam.
  9. does anybody think buzzard numbers are not helping? I dont think ive seen so many buzzards and surely a pair could take a few rabbit a day?
  10. Thanks mate im not sure the percentages. Hes lurcher to lurcher mostly Beddy grey. Drop of whippet in there and splash of lakey in the original beddy. Quite the cocktail.
  11. i think i'll only have rough haired running dogs. Just something my old man had ingrained on me. This dog has been brilliant though hes eager to please, eager to work and soft as muck round the nieces and nephews as are most lurchers mind you. Dropped on quite lucky i think. cheers
  12. And thank you, he’s just my type Im very fond of him.
  13. I don’t ever want to lamp one to be honest. Would love to watch him race one daytime in the future maybe.
  14. Been out for an hour tonight, after 2 blanks I’ve waited for the right conditions and I chose tonight, slight drizzle and wind blowing and now we’re up and running, 3rd time lucky. I know any Lurcher should catch a rabbit but I’m proud of my dog he bought them back alive, near enough straight back to me (little bit of showing off from him) Praised him to high heaven, I must admit after I took them he wanted to get at them again before they went in me ruck sack I told him a stern leave it but he tried it, I suppose to be expected at first? The dogs 11 months old next week so very early days
  15. thanks for the reply, sounds effing annoying my young dog twice now has refused to be put on the lead and no matter how much swearing i did wouldnt come close enough to go on. i had to sit on the ground to get him to come to me, could of shot him and myself haha
  16. can i ask what makes him hard work? My old man was never a fan of saluki so i kno very little about them but i find them intriguing
  17. she looks smart, atb with her
  18. im in a similar position mate, my pups 10 month old in my eyes hes brilliant but im still waiting for that first kill, i know its in him ive seen the chases and it will be such a relief when it happens. ive been out twice on the lamp no kills, weve got to be patient, Ive been on here and asked these questions and took the advice. I wont be going out again until a wet windy night and will probably have a mornings ferreting in between. ATB mate
