Im a firm believer in always having a rainy day fund, could be 1k could be 10k etc depending on how much a parra Pete you are, and it’s only ever dipped into if absolutely necessary. I recon even for the most frugal of folks, it’s the curve ball you don’t see coming that can land you in the shit financially. Along with that I find if you have any amount aside, it gives incentive to save more and the more you save the less you want to spend it and end up back at the start. Don’t take out loans or finance to pay for something that isn’t an appreciating asset and will benefit

And there’s the silver lining as I see it personally. the same organisations that have purposefully distanced themselves from dog work before during and after the original ban have found themselves under threat also. This should have the positive affect that those bodies who more than likely would have shunned us to save face and protect image otherwise, to join the fight. just my opinion.

that’s my understanding also. so at present will have a knock on affect for the likes of picking up and beating on shoots as well as gundog trials etc.

that’s it in a nutshell. I’d say a decent percentage of dog lads would take action if they knew it had merit and were asked to get involved and how to go about it. But the majority of us are woefully naive, uneducated and worse still totally uninterested in the politics and policy side of the sport which is what will be our downfall. where as the scum, credit where credit is due to them, have the tenacity to make a minority voice heard where it matters politically, amplified to sound like a majority. It’s a scary thought that we will have to explain to our kids in year

Whilst recent hot topics such as what picture would be best for Ken’s deputy’s toad tank backdrop and who is going to make a move in shutting max’s mouth for good are truly riveting. I haven’t seen much on here discussing the proposed Scottish bill that if passed will effectively end hunting with hounds in Scotland? I know this is the general talk section, but when you realise what is proposed it will affect much more than simply hunting with hounds, it has serious ramifications for almost all forms of dog work, so seemed fitting to stick it on here as will ultimately affect us a

Don’t jump the gun there… he could be an SNP man ?

Be your best option imo most paint/resin products will fail if the surface isn’t sound to begin with.

RIP End of an era, leaving behind a commendable legacy imo

I’m at the place now that I’ve worked hard to achieve all my days. working for myself with no one to answer to and no one to rely on. In a sector I’m both overqualified, over experienced and more than capable of carrying out without hassle, stress or worry. Financially more than stable always with no ambition of ever being top of the ladder. and content with what I have and can obtain. Ability to make time, any time, for family and sport when i chose to. I realised very early on in life that when it comes to money, the more you have, the more you spend and ultim

i recon anything that anyone is truly great at and memorably passionate about can be considered artistic in a sense. Doesn’t have to be words or paint on a page imo ?

Never met a shooting man that also kept dogs worth mentioning… going out at night and drilling foxes etc with thermal is at best a conflict of interest when you’ve a kennel of terriers/lurchers imo ? Any I’ve known of that claim to be both, usually blow the cobwebs off the terriers round about the time anyone that is half into it puts them away for the season if nothing more than to keep the keepers happy by clearing up any litters. just what I’ve experienced though not to be taken as gospel ?

There are several ways you can obtain legal planning permission on land you own if you know what boxes to tick and meet all the relevant criteria. Certain areas will be much harder to obtain usually I.e within regional/national parks or within historic areas etc and rightly so. it is mainly centred around justification for an agricultural workers dwelling for a viable agri/land based business run profitably for x number of years as well as a multitude of other requirements. In my opinion that’s more than appropriate and prevents people building on land purely based on want an

There’s already several options available to gain permission to build on agricultural land if you have a quick read up ?

Agreed but Id rather what we have at present than this imaginary utopia where you can buy an acre and fling up what you want unregulated. Take a step back and envision what that would look like and be like in reality? development at present is mainly encroachment into the green belt of existing developments which unless you have another solution imo is the best option for a bad problem (other than the obvious which most would like to happen). I understand you have bought into the good life, which we all aspire to, and all credit to you, but that is an unrealistic

I don’t know what planet some of you live on but from my experience the countryside we have left is already vastly overpopulated by horsey folk, good lifers, do gooders and general nosey c**ts from the cities. keep the c**ts in the concrete jungles they belong and heavily legislate any new rural development. life isn’t fair bottom line. we would all like our own piece of paradise but such is life.
-
look like the exact type you’d like to meet when out for a rake about with the dogs ? f**k them send in the dozers ?
-
With a population of 68+ million if even 1% decided to bang a container in a field or sling up a mud hut our remaining countryside would be drastically different overnight, then would we still support this idea? Question is, what makes these folk so special that planning laws should be bent to suit them?

What has gone wrong it never used to be like this ?

Throwaway society, from the woke generation of hypocrites. The same generation that point the finger at everyone else that we’re ruining the planet etc The age group attending that are the same blaming the older generation for climate change etc but all that said, most of that is left because of guess 99% of folk know there will be a major clean up after the even so isn’t the same as your kfc out the window cuntbag. Still a disgusting sight though.
