Just had a look at the instructional sheet that came with the Moderator of my old fella's and it says this !!!! (1) Undo the three screws (2) Press the centre part out from the outer sleeve by pressing the front of the sound moderator against a table top - the outer sleeve then slips off !!! Hope this helps you !!! All the best Tommy

Yeah thats correct Andy !!! Foxy, Nipper and Reefer are litter mates and are all based around the breeding of C. Nutall !! I have heard of the Reefer dog as it seemed to have sired a fair few pups but have never watched it run, if it was anything likes its litter mates then it would have been decent !!!! All the best Tommy

The dog 'Nipper' you are talking was a real good dog !! He was full brother to the great bitch 'Foxy'. These dogs were bred from a bitch called 'Seagull' back to a full saluki called 'Cruise' both were supposed to have been great dogs !! As will have seen from watching 'Nipper' on video, he wasn't an incredible fast dog, but had bags of stamina and killed lots of hares, got him on video killing three hares of one slip !!! As well as been a great dog he's sired some great dogs he's the father of 'Blondie' Forley 2000 winner, grandfather of 'Fettle' Forley 2001 winner and produced another good

In my opinion a dogs only as good as it's last performance and beleive that many dogs are over-rated when they haven't been fully tested !!!! As for Snowy i'm not sure how many seasons she ran for, she ran extremely well in 2002 competition but i think she's labeled a legend through winning the Forley Legends !!! All the best Tommy

Think 'Maxhardcore' and 'Andy Super Dogs' have hit the nail on the head here !! Summer times a time to let both dogs and quarry rest !! In my opinion coursing hares is about one thing and one thing only TESTING YOUR DOG !!! This is why a dog is ran hard through the season and given long slips on testing ground on WINTER hares !! Theres absoultly nothing testing about running summer time hares that are full off young !! Our season starts at around the last weekend in August and finishes in early March and if we have some young dogs on we may go on to the end of march, thats the latest !! I'

Had a little flutter on 'Ebony Light' beleive the horse is a stayer and they certainly need to be for this race and he has a trainer that knows a thing or two about the GRAND NATIONAL (Ginger McCain) !! Got it a 50/1 but just checked on line and it's now 33/1 !! A fews beers if it wins !!! All the best Tommy

Glad to hear your progressing Kye !!! It is said often that heavy weight training can take its toll on your body and i suppose some weight trainers have had physical damage that has been caused through training but theres also loads that haven't suffered at all !! At the gym were i work has an old fella who comes in and he's 67 now and has trained since he was 15 !! This old lad is in great shape and still runs, bag work as well as weights regulary !! He's a real Wealth of knowledge as far as training is concerned (especially boxing) as he had over 100 amatuer fights !!! Theres also a

Gin mate it may be worth taking the dog to another vet for a second opinion !!! Sounds like one of those litle 'Nigling' injuries that running dogs pick up from time to time !!! What i would do is to check the whole leg starting from the shoulder, aplying pressure and looking for signs of pain in the dog and then working right down to the dogs foot and even its toes !! This might help in finding the area which is causing the problem. Another good thing to check is your dogs toe nails, it would be a good idea to keep these short as if they're long and the dog is sufferening from a foot in

Interesting thread this !!! Its always nice to see a nice put together animal and many lurchers are cracking looking but like you say 'Handsome is as Handsome does', and many of the best lurchers wouldn't win a show !!! When i usually go to a show (i dont show my lurchers) i always like to watch the judge and see what he's looking at in a dog !!! I can remember been at a show in March last year and listening to a bloke tell me how his two Saluki crooses were the 'Muts Nuts' and had been running hard all season !!! After feeling the dogs back i knew someone was telling some 'Porkies' !!!! Now

Had an hour out with my big fell type dog and my nephews (his dog but Cleverly its KENNELLED at my HOUSE) Plummer bitch !!! I'd been out early this morning with my mates lurchers and when i got back home decided to have a quick wander with the terriers. I took my little 'Ruck sack' with me as it has a folding spade and a few nets in, just in case !! Juts as i set of my mate called and he was going on the same land to scope his .22 rimfire in and so insted of a quick walk i got a lift, proper LAZY twat !!!! I was just working the terriers through some bramble beds and was happy just working t

Seagull = Shite Hawk !!!! Was talking to a cornish bloke yesterday when i visited Wales and he worked as a farm labourer when he was a young un and always poahed a few of the landowners Pheasants. Back in the boozer these would be know as 'Long Tailed Rabbits' !!! What about sayings !!!!!! This one isn't local to me another Irish one. If it's pissing it down, freezing or just bad we -
Another good day that i had was when my mate was running in a match and i just went along to watch. The bloke that he was running is a bit of a gob shite and was pulling all the dogs local to us down, as he said he had the WONDER dog at that time (don't they always ????) !!! Well we agreed to run him and when the day came around we were confident in what my mates dog could do as he was running ut of his skin at that particullar time. When we arrived at the meeting point i noticed that they had brought two dogs and they explained that one was for coursing any hares after the match was over !!!!

Well done Tomo mate !!! The bitch that won the compition is that the same bitch that you have now ???? Have run in a couple of competitions with both Greyhounds and my saluki crosses and you can't beat the feeling when your dog performs when running in these events. It makes it feel like all the hard work and time has paid of !! Maxhardcore looks smart in that pic, Shirt and Tie ehh !!!! Where you due in Court !!!! All the best Tommy

Having read through the Minshaw topic and seen that many people have some great tales to tell from the past, thought that now the season is over it would be a good time to talk of some of the great times from the past, I'M sure plenty of you fella's have some days to tell of?????? Well i'll start with a day out i had coursing in the 2003/2004 season. For the past 6 seasons i have run with an oldish bloke from the same village as me and due to work commitments he only has the weekends free, so our coursing together was done on either saturday, sunday or if we were mad for some dog work Both !!

Any first cross saluki greyhounds or just salukis out there?
Tommy replied to a topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I've just had a quick look through my photo collection and found a pic of a saluki cross i had !!! He wasn't first cross saluki/greyhound (his bloodlines originated with Sniper). The dog was a great dog around the house but turned a little DEAF when out in the fields !!!!! I din't own the dog for long as a farmer not far from me was after a Saluki cross and i never really clicked with the dog so i sold him. Within a week the farmer was phoning me up saying how pleased he was with the dog and that it was 100% with all life stock and had killed him a few single handed hares !!! I was over the -
Great looking dogs you got there Tommy Whats their breeding? All right Countryman !!! My dogs are bred from a line of Lurcher that has been going around local to me for at least twenty years, they are basically Greyhound x Collie x Bedlington x Saluki. That was the Dam of these dogs line. The sire was a Saluki lurcher that originated from a traveller in Leeds before a friend bought the dog. These dogs are used mainly for daytime work on the Big Rabbits  !!! All the best Tommy

Heres a quick pic of my nephew (hopefully a future lurcher man) and the two dogs i've been running this season !!! Now the season for the running dogs over i think i will spend some time just having early morning or late evening walks with the dogs as theres always plenty of wildlife to be seen. Hopefully i will take my Nephew out plenty of times throughout the summer and maybe take him ratting with the terriers on the nearby stream !!! All the best Tommy

Any first cross saluki greyhounds or just salukis out there?
Tommy replied to a topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I've always been around Saluki based lurchers and they definitly suite me !!!! The dog in the pic is the sire to my currrent bitches and was 5 years old when the pic was taken. The dog spent a bit of time at our house, when its owner was away and then when he was building new kennels. For some reason, i dont know the dogs owner selt the dog on to a genuine dog man not far away from us and when i asked him about the dog he was more than pleased. When he first got the dog it was out of shape and needed some fitness so it's new owner gave it a few nights out on the lamp, he'd never been out on t -
Well fella's i've finished with the running dogs for the season now and it seems to have been and gone all so quickly. It seems just two minutes back when i was walking the dogs getting them fit in July/August and now its time to give there well earned summer rest !!! This season has been really busy and i have managed to fit a lot of time out with the dogs as work allows this, not starting work until 3.00pm !! From September really i've tried to be out at least twice a week (weather permitting) running the big rabbits and have had a couple of invites onto some permission for lamping and a bi
