  1. Aye definitely a place well worth going if the opportunity’s there , had I not of had abit of a f%*k up with my visa don’t think I’d of ever come home, loved the bush life ?
  2. Spent a couple of years on a cattle station in central Queensland in me early 20s . Just went over backpacking originally, but after drinking all me cash in the first month ended up with a job on this cattle property in Queensland. idea was to just save abit of cash to go off partying again. Ended up loving it so much I stayed for nearly 2 year and met my now wife. Along side the station work we were hunting and shooting pretty much daily, the place was lifting with Roos and pigs an I bloody loved it. Anyway there was a local lad that worked on the property next door who had a pac
  3. Spot on, good to hear ? been meaning to give him a call see how there getting on. Wel get em out together for abit rabbiting [BANNED TEXT] there ready for it ?
  4. Looks a nasty one that bud, any broken bones ?? Or just flesh wounds from the barb ?? Hope there no lasting damage mate ??
  5. 1stx deer/grey x whippet , 4months , really shooting up now ???
  6. Would u lads say jumping gates /fences is essential for a working lurcher ??? Have u ever seen a dog clear a fence or gate whilst in pursuit of something ?? Would always have me gun-dogs jumping , but like been mentioned above there not going 30mph. I just imagine a dog misjudging a jump in full flight being an absolute car crash. An maybe jumping better left out, an just accept loosing some game as a result ?
  7. Evening lads / lasses im pretty new to owning and working a runner . Would be really interested to hear from the experienced on here your thoughts on preventing injuries/collisions . I accept a lot of it is just common sense avoiding frozen/baked ground, trailers etc left out in fields stuff like that. An I suppose with the rough an tumble of working , injuries can never be totally avoided an come down to bad luck. But u carnt beat experience... would love to hear ur thoughts , any advice much appreciated ???
  8. Yeh had a ratch back through the archives on here and found some threads done by skycat about a litter she bred. Liked the look of them. The search also highlighted other posts from the past with Airedale blooded lurchers mentioned, some really smart looking animals. It’s definitely something il look into at some point in life. Do you think a first x could be abit slow?? Don’t think it would be the end of the world for me. I have this deer/grey x whip pup here , don’t think she’ll be lacking in pace department. So I think something like that could be really handy addition for ferreting.
  9. I’m from a keepering background myself and would shoot cubs every year. Wasn’t something I had a problem doing, but at the same time was never something I got any enjoyment out of. was just a necessity of the job. But now I’m out of it an just hunt an shoot as a hobby , it would never enter my head to seek out a litter an wipe them out with a rifle just for sport. Let’s be real there is no sport in that. To be honest as the more years go by the less bothered iv been about shooting an numbers, an the more I just love working dogs , wether it be a gundog or a runner ??
  10. Do reckon theres any pics of them about on here?? Old thread bout em perhaps?? ?
  11. Aye see what your saying, I’m probably looking at it through rose tinted glasses abit to be fair, as iv such fond memories of that dog I spoke about. But like u say if something was on the cards and the time was right , think I’d be taking the plunge ?
  12. Aye remember reading about working Airedale’s in the states , think there’s a strain called redline Airedale’s or something like that, look slightly different.
  13. Aye think I would an all ?? it’s just sumat that seems a good idea on paper anyway ? I definitely wanna go down those lines at some point in life. Probs not a f1 tho. won’t be for a long time anyway just focus on this pup I have here for good few years .
  14. Argh shit [BANNED TEXT] stuff like that happens eh. Aye that one I had, had a nasty streak in him. Wasn’t a mad head or out , just wouldn’t tolerate any bad manners off other dogs at all, an would put an end to it quick smart ? use d to go ferreting with an old boy who used to bring this big old drakeshead lab dog with him. An f#*k me they’d be at each other all day, we always travelled to the farm in separate cars even tho he lived like 100 yards away, as we didn’t dare put them in the back of a motor together cos they’d of torn lumps off each other ??
  15. Would be really interesting to hear about them like , it’s sumat I often think about. Wish the one I had still had his knackers ?
  16. Has anyone ever seen a Airedale blooded lurcher?? Always had a soft spot for Airedale’s. Had a Airedale/Irish terrier as a lad, was a propa handy ferreting companion , brilliant nose , would retrieve feather , steady enough to be in the beating line on a shoot day. Don’t get me wrong he was no super dog or out, just really handy to have about for just about anything u were doing , a propa tryer an hard as nails. Often thought I would of loved to of had him over a greyhound or lurcher, think he would of added a lot. My farther picked him up from a rescue an they had neutered him s
  17. Thanks mate, she’s a very forward confident larl character , but by no means a handful if u know what I mean. Very engaging an biddable ?
  18. Oh aye over the moon with her bud , just up to me to do her justice now, She certainly won’t be lacking in time an effort off me that’s for sure ???
  19. Boils ur piss stuff like this eh. As been mentioned already , just gives all the anti hunting media an social media all the ammo they need to paint hunting an people involved in it in a bad light, an portray stuff like this as commonplace . When in reality 99.9 % of normal decent people involved in hunting/shooting would be just as disgusted by this as anyone else. Absolute wank stains ?
  20. Propa smart looking dog that, really like it ?? hows it bred??
  21. Haha iv just realised how iv worded the title , I’m not after stories about taxi drivers in Bradford or wherever ?
