  1. The American Continental Army, with the assistance of the French and the Spanish. Cheers.
  2. They beat us in 1783 ! LOL ! Cheers.
  3. I’ve watched every episode mate, very informative and unbiased. Cheers.
  4. The local council planted plum trees next to my allotment, (very nice of them), years ago, yellow, red and black, alternately, and there’s a community orchard a few hundred yards away with apples and pears, loads of blackberries, elderberries and sloes all around, so plenty of raw materials, but I’ve also made decent wine using Lidl’s 2 litre summer fruits juice. Demijohns waiting to be pressure washed and steam cleaned; Cheers.
  5. I’ve never tried the flower but make a very decent elderberry. Ive had plum wine up around 16/17%; nice to drink, but not to recover from Cheers.
  6. Half a teaspoon of sugar added to the bottle would give second fermentation but I was wanting to avoid sediments. I use Turbo yeast and Turbo finings and get excellent results with a high alcohol content. Just fancied a bottle of sparkling now and again. Cheers.
  7. I looked into getting the modern one of those to put a fizz into my home made wine but they and the gas refills are bloody expensive. Not worth it. Cheers.
  8. The whippets win ! LOL ! Cheers.
  9. I’ve hunted in New Zealand, Texas, the Middle East, When my daughters friend Hamed Ghunaim invited to go to the UAE to visit his saluki kennels, I jumped on the first plane I could get ! When I was asked to judge the whippet show at Birr Castle in Ireland, I jumped at the chance, took a couple of lurchers with me and had a days coursing and a days fishing on the grand canal! I would go anywhere, any time to hunt or fish. Getting a bit old for it now, but not quite finished yet. The missus was in Finland a while back and was on about the ptarmigan shooting and ice fishing, so that’s o
  10. They do it all; I went out with terriers bolting to the lurchers, walked up with lurchers and I went out with the Barwon Fox hounds. Those hounds are a mixed pack of English Foxhounds and Irish Beagles ,
  11. Every Sunday; cream soda, dandelion & burdock, lemonade…….not a coke or pepsi in sight ! Cheers.
  12. Yes, mate, the land is huge, makes the fens look like my back garden ! Theres plenty of hares, but none of the lads I met were interested in them, they considered them pests. Also ,I’ve never seen a saluki or saluki x when I’ve been there. I’m sure there will be some, and the land is perfect for coursing, but I don’t know anyone who runs them. Cheers.
  13. Yes , mate, I went out a few times with stag hounds and ‘Roo hounds, terriers and foxhounds. Cheers.
  14. This just caught my eye; Very cheap pups. I’ve hunted around Ballarat, and although I’m not a fan of Airedale crosses, if I lived there I would be tempted to give one of these a go. Cheers.
  15. Anyone remember this ? Cheers.
  16. My brother worked for the local council for almost 50 years as a Health & Safety manager. He told me that years ago the council told the bin lorry drivers they would have to have H & S training as they were now to be responsible for the safety of the bin men and the public and they would have authority to hand out fines for putting the wrong rubbish in the bin. The drivers did this for a pay rise. Now the council wanted to renege on the deal and reduce their wages, just as Birmingham are doing. The entire council workforce, not just the bin men, said they would down tool
  17. Evidently the military are not “emptying bins”. There are three logistic officers helping with the co-ordination of getting the rubbish removed. Cheers.
  18. “The only thing I can’t resist is temptation “ ! Oscar Wilde. Cheers.
  19. I’m just a keen amateur, mate. It’s my hobby, growing veg in the allotment in the summer, working the dogs in the winter. Sure as hell beats working for a living ! Cheers.
  20. Straight in but I’ve got some double glazed skylights rescued from a school refurb that I put over them, keeps the frost off till they get established and stops the birds pulling them up. Cheers.
  21. Never grew from seed. I got my Japanese onions to overwinter online. But all my other onions are sets from Poundland ! Never had them fail. Cheers.
  22. I know mate. A friends daughter was a waitress at The Outback in Texas, she was telling me that she didn’t get any pay from the company, but she had a block of tables she looked after and employed two busboys , and paid them out of her tips and still made a decent living. People would wait at the bar until one of her tables was available even though there were other waitresses and tables. She reckoned on 30% of the bill for a tip. She tore my bill up and said me and my missus were her guests. I felt bad but we took her and her family out for a meal at the Tower of the Americas in San
  23. Is there anywhere in the UK that does the same as the yanks; pay for one coffee and get free refills ? £4 for a coffee ? Anyone paying that should have their money confiscated as they aren’t in control of their senses ! LOL ! Cheers.
  24. Stiffy; are you alluding to bull x’s down south being tested on big quarry such as the larger species of deer and boars ? Cheers.
  25. My only foray into banger racing was way back when I was an apprentice and a couple of us got hold of a Ford Consul 375. The only car modifications were to remove all the glass and weld up the doors. Burnt the clutch out in the first and only race, and the car was left at the track for the scrap man to take away ! Cheers.
