“ Gamer than a bull x, better coat than a deerhound x, faster than a non-ped whippet, is a plane , is it a rocket ? No, it’s a Hullshaw !” LOL ! Cheers. -

Max and I talked about speed, I like as much speed as possible in a lurcher , if it can’t catch up to its quarry, it can’t kill it. Plodders that wear the quarry down are a liability these day, I much prefer a “whizz banger” , on the field and off quickly. My bitch has surprisingly decent speed for her size. Max added non-ped whippet/grey to his coursing bred bitch and if this bitch he ran today is anything to go by , it’s worked, definitely a fast bitch ! Cheers. -

I’ve never run my bitch on the track, she has one job…..and it isn’t racing ! Besides, at over 28” she wouldn’t fit in the traps ! LOL ! Cheers. -
Met up with Max Hardcore at my local whippet club to give his lurcher bitch a couple of trials. Gave it a solo run out of the traps and with a muzzle. It ran well and did a very respectable time. Later on gave it another trial of a level break with a good non-ped racing whippet, again, out of traps with muzzles. A very good race over 150 yards with the lurcher coming from behind to be beaten by just half a length, again in a good time. I enjoyed the morning and the craic, Max certainly knows his running dogs ! Cheers.

They’ve had all types. They used to run the Yorkshire Game Fair and the EDRD show. They don’t do much now. Cheers.
-
Yeah, they have a lot of permission around there and Selby , I’ve done a bit of coursing and lamping with them. Cheers.

She’s just had a week with her pals in Yorkshire . Mega bus to Leeds then a bus to Pontefract, then met and drove to Helmsley. Not as exotic as her usual trips ! LOL ! Met up with Maxhardcore at the local whippet track to give his lurcher bitch a couple of trials. Cheers.

Well , you’ve outlasted me , lads, I’m off to bed, the missus is back from her travels tomorrow and I’d better make sure the house is habitable and her house cur is still alive! Im going to the whippets tomorrow and hopefully meet up with an old THL favourite before I pick the wife up. Cheers.

I love Trippier, but he’s a right back , not a left winger ! Gordon is an out and out left winger so why won’t Southgate pick him ? Cheers.

That was PSG, funnily enough I couldn’t get a ticket for Dortmund but went “over the Toon” for a drink and a craic with the lads and had a great time in The Clock and The Garter with the German supporters. I posted some pics on here of us and them drinking Brown Ale. Its a funny old life ! Cheers.

Last time I was at the match , a while ago, I ended up in Tiger Tiger at the Gate with my nephew and his “ultra “ pals. Some prick accused me of jumping the queue at the bar and I took exception. It didn’t end well. Not a good look for a man in his 70’s, so I’ll politely decline your invitation. Cheers.

Yeah ! Only Geordies browsing ! Way aye man !

See ? 12 o’clock on a Friday night and everyone has gone to bed . Cheers.

I was more into motor bikes and leather jackets at first. My older brother was the mod, a “face”, “ top mod” . He bought a very nice Lambretta and his first ride out was to Scotland, and he fell off, he came back in an ambulance and the scooter came back on a train. He never rode it again and gave it to me . I had absolutely no hesitation in changing allegiance and becoming a mod. I fully embraced the lifestyle; the scooters, the clothes , the music….I was living the teenage dream . But time waits for no man, and I’ve probably had more incarnation than David Bowie ! M

It’s very tame these days, especially for a Friday night ! Cheers.

With the orange lining ? When I was a mod with a Lambretta, I had a genuine ex US Army fishtail parka. Still got a couple of parka’s hanging up in the man cave, including a very nice ex Swedish army “winter jeep coat “. Cheers.

All the bar scenes were done in the Barking Dog Pub at the track as far as I’m aware. I knew everyone on the program, and I’ll be seeing some of them tomorrow at Westerhope whippets, still racing well over 50 years later. There may have been scenes shot at other clubs/pubs, that didn’t make the cut. Cheers.

Tunisian Arab League Peacekeeping Force, actually. Cheers.

ITV actually made a program called “It’s a dogs life at the Rising Sun” about whippet racing in 1970. My local club and the time I was heavily into the non-ped racing whippets. I managed to get an original video tape of it and made numerous DVD copies which I sent to friends here and abroad . Cheers.

I was too young for either the Korean or Vietnam wars, but I have some, very, limited experience of UN operations in south east Asia; UN peacekeeping force ( UNTAC), Cambodia , c.1990. Cheers.
-
I stand corrected . It was a UN force, which included the Gloucestershire Regiment which suffered huge casualties, but I’d say the bulk of the force was American.. Cheers.

See, every day is a school day ! LOL ! Cheers.

My mothers cousins had a tobacco farm in Rhodesia until the natives confiscated it. They moved to Canada and bought a farm with the money the UK gave them as compensation. Cheers.
