Was at the doctors waiting for the missus to have some tests and I noticed they had one of those machines that you stand on and it gives you a read out of height, weight, blood pressure and BMI, so I had a go on it. Everything looked fine but my heart rate was 62 BPM. My heart was ticking over like an old, long stroke Diesel engine ! I asked the doc if that was ok, as it’s about half the upper rate for a man in his 70’s, but he said it’s fine as long as the blood pressure is ok , which it is . I guess I’m just a laid back old f****r ! Cheers.

What was needed was a bitch fight between Angela Rayner and Penny Mordaunt ! Mordaunt would have won under rules, but Rayner would have won a street fight! But both of them would have ruined the LibDem and Green Party rug munchers ! Just my opinion, of course . Cheers.

Nothing wrong with NZ, mate; Government hut out in the bush for hunters to use, free of charge. Cheers.
-
Well; NZ$ 50 million is about £25 million, that’s £2.5 million each. Probably not enough to join the Toffs Club these days, mate, but if I won it I’d be heading down your way ! Cheers.

My missus came in to the lounge from the kitchen just before and asked if I had Tourette’s . I said why do you ask; she said you’re shouting “twat” . I said Tourette’s is involuntary, I’m shouting at that stupid Greek bint who’s a 29 year old, former Labour advisor who is talking absolute nonsense about immigration on GBNews, and there’s nothing involuntary about what I’m shouting ! Cheers.

Grealish dropped from England squad …..no surprise; an arrogant , self entitled pisshead ! Don't get photographed coming out of a night club at five in the morning before you’re due to play in the FA Cup final if you want to be taken seriously ! Just my opinion, of course . Cheers.

We thought he was more of a Jason King; Perhaps I’m showing my age now ! LOL ! Cheers.

Where are the mods ? They should delete the threads and the people posting them . Cheers.

Long, long ago, I had a very good black non-ped whippet called Pot Black, 23” and 45lb; my mate had a black, non-ped whippet called Silly Rocket, 19” and 30lb. Anyway, your aforementioned Sunderland Greyhound Track had a time trial Open meeting on for whippets, with bookies in attendance. We, of course put the smaller, lighter dog in for the time trial, then swapped it for the bigger, heavier, far faster dog in the race, and even though the handicapper still just gave us scratch, we knew we were on a winner ! We put everything we had on it at 3-1, and it won by a distance !

I only have a daft bet on the Grand National. With the whippets and greyhounds I was betting on my own dogs and my ability to have them “right” and my knowledge of the opposition; as can be seen where I lost £70 back in 1972; my confidence in my own ability may have been over estimated at times, LOL ! Cheers.

I had a couple of results with the whippet and greyhound match racing so the money came out of the winnings ; Cheers.

My mate and I bought this lurcher off the p***y’s on Newcastle Town Moor in 1972 for £20. Thats my mate, by the way, not me ! They said it was a “staghound”, deerhound/greyhound. It turned out to be one of the best lurchers I’ve ever seen, and up to date is the only one I’ve personally seen that took 100 rabbits in one night on the lamp. So yes, it IS possible to get a good dog from the gypsies. Cheers.

One year I was walking up the field and a p***y had a cage of lurcher pups, I stopped for a look and the guy said “whippet/greyhound pups, £50”, I carried on walking and he shouted “£40, ok give me £30”, but I kept walking. Coming back down the field, a different p***y was selling the same pups; this time it was “saluki/greyhound pups, £30” ! Again, I kept walking and he was shouting “ how about £20 ? OK, a tenner” ! So ; when in Appleby “ caveat emptor”…… Cheers.

Not a place to take a dog; hot, crowded, and idiots wanting to buy your dog. I’ve never taken a dog with me, far easier without one. Cheers.

I thought it was the stop off at Kirkby that was closing the pubs and blocking the verges and lay-by’s ? Some of the lads set off the other day in vardo’s, going over Hartside and dropping down to Kendal. I usually go but haven’t been for a couple of years, might have a look this year if I’m not busy. Cheers.

A good read , Ray. Reminds me of a tale I’ve told on here in the past; me and LDR were out coursing first light up Northumberland and then two tractors appeared on opposite sides of the field and came at us in a pincer movement ! Now LDR was half my age and a very fit young bloke. He took off like a whippet, cleared a stream and vaulted the barbed wire fence on the other side. I approached the stream with trepidation but managed, just , to clear the stream but grabbed the top strand of the wire and fall backwards, ending up horizontal, inches above the water ! I was shouting “pu

Sorry to hear this, Ray . I’m same age but no problems up to now, but I’m resigned to them coming ! Ive got a 28”, 70lb bitch who’s a bit of a handful, but I’m ok with her, in fact seriously thinking of getting a pup ! Hope you recover soon. Cheers, Richie.

Eyup Keith ! Hope you’re well mate ! Cheers.

I had a few drinks with the Dortmund fans when they played Newcastle; an excellent bunch of lads. I had them in some of the roughest bars in the Toon and even had them drinking Newcastle Brown Ale. They arranged to meet my nephew and his mates in Dortmund for the away game and look after them, which they did. Cheers.

Especially when espoused by a left winger…. Cheers.

I wasn’t aware it was a competition ! Just Saturday night banter. Cheers.

Being in the company of Messers Biden, Sunak and Starmer, even without alcohol, wouldn’t just dull my senses, it would make me consider self harming ! I’d have a better conversation with the local paraffin, sharing a park bench and a bottle of Thunderbird ( can you still get Thunderbird ?). Cheers.

Just my opinion, but it may be what Man U had but have now lost; the “fear factor”. Any team going up against Real Madrid may have a psychological disadvantage and not play with the confidence they would against other teams. As I say, just my opinion. At least my grandson will be happy, he called me to try and convince his mother to let him stay up to watch the game even though it’s a school day tomorrow, he will go to bed happy ! Cheers.
