  1. When I was in Australia last week, we went into my daughters local pub, and a pint of larger was £6.60 !!!! Needles to say, I only had the one !! Cheers.
  2. Don't you think someone can be an expert on running dogs No. some people THINK they are experts, (I'm not talking about Skycat), but I doubt verty much any one is an EXPERT on running dogs. Cheers.
  3. Still not getting it, Albert !! Martin KNOWS FOR A FACT his dog is NOT an "unregistered KC Whippet" It's a "Non-ped Whippet" with pleanty Greyhound blood in it !! A world of difference !! Don't eqate Retreives with Whippets ! Cheers.
  4. All of them, apart from the Silken Windhound, still work to some degree, around the world. Cheers.
  5. I'm sure Skycat is a very nice and helpfull person....... but to call anyone an EXPERT on running dogs............ Hmmmm Cheers
  6. Wouldn't it be easier if these people just raced their Ped Whippets, Non-Ped Whippets and 31/32% Greyhounds at tracks, out of traps, and left Lurcher racing for Lurchers ????? Cheers.
  7. Dessie, that's the way to go with the racing . As for the showing, unfourtunately, the "Working dog" class is allways the biggest at any show, even though 99% of the dogs have not done a days work in their lives !! I was judging a class once, and asked the lady owner "what work does your dog do" and she replied"he chases squirrels in the park" !!!! You can only take people at their word and hope the judge knows a working dog from a show dog, although this isn't allways possible !! I personally think there shouldn't be a "working dog class"; aren't they ALL suppossed to be workers ? Cheers
  8. The holiday was excellent, did you read the post "hunting down under" and see the pics ? I''m in Malaysia for a few days at the moment, and I'm trying to get someone to take me out pig hunting !! Never miss an opportunity !! LOL !! Cheers.
  9. To me, this is all about the difference between a "Non-Ped Whippet" and an "Unregistered Whippet" !! I f the racing was for "un registered Whippets", it should have been for pure bred Whippets; if it was for Non-Ped Whippets, then surely any "Whippet" registered with the BWRA or the NNWRF could enter, no matter if it had Greyhound blood !! So if you were ambiguos with what you advertised, your'e asking for these arguments !! Albert, in a previous post about this subject, I said you were naive where ":Whippets" are concerned; it appears you still are !! A decent "Non-Ped" will easily beat a reg
  10. Who won the competition you were running last season, Whin ? Cheers.
  11. A Beduin bred Saluki I owned and ran in the Middle East.
  12. I've seen him run, and spoken with his owner. He's a VERY fast dog, on srtraights and bends. Being out of a "Non-Ped" Whippet and a Greyhound, he probably has more Greyhound in him than Whippet, in fact he looks more like a Greyhound. Anyone wanting to put more speed into a line could do a lot worse than use this dog ! Cheers.
  13. Of course everyone should have an opinion, and some people ARE breed blind, but anyone who says Whippets aren't fast, realy SHOULDN'T be writing for a national feildsports publication, (if you can call the CMW that), !!!!!! Cheers.
  14. If you are out COURSING, for sport and to watch the dog run; then the hare should be given fair law. But if you are out HUNTING, for the pot, and you're up on a bit of high ground watching your dog quartering a feild and it lifts a hare, then it's only doing it's job, and law doesn't come into it. Cheers.
  15. I'm using th img tab on Photobucket, same as I've allways used.sometimes when I "copy" it won't "paste",other times, when I want to put the pic below the text, it automaticaly goes above the text. If I highlight the pic code and drag it down below the text, the pic won;t appear, only the pic code ! I hope that makes sense to you. I use exactly the same method on other sites, and it works ok, this has only happened since you updated the site. Cheers.
  16. i'm having trouble posting pics. Sometimes they won't post at all; other times they will only post above the text, not where I want to post them. It's only happened since you changed the site, and I have no trouble posting them on other sites. So, personaly, I wish you had left well alone ! LOL ! Cheers.
  17. After a long days hunting yesterday, we're just relaxing today, drinking a few chilled Tooheys in the garden, I can't believe this is winter in Australia !! This is one of my daughters dogs, she says it;s an Australiam Fox Terrier, but it looks awfully like a Chihuahua to me !!! LOL !!!
  18. Moo; yeah it was hunt land, and it was enormous, they covered some ground. Those jumps have two strands of barbed above them, and the terrier man and other followers try to establish where the hunt is going and drop the wires then put them back up after the horses go over. There is stock on most of the land, so the fencing has to be respected or the land owners wouldn't allow the hunt on. Tomo, there are rabbits and hares everywhere, and Gerrard was asked by one of the hunt to go on her property and cull the hares which are destroying 8000 young trees they've just planted, another member o
  19. We had a great day out, but it got better as we got back to the meeting place. We let the dogs out to stretch their legs before the journey home, and the 'Roo dog took off on a hot scent, and soon pulled a fox literaly yards from where the hunt had set of !! So the final score was Fox Hounds Nil - 'Roo dog one !! LOL !!
  20. The hunt were having a grand day, covering a large amount of ground and jumping some stone walls and fences.
  21. We got one terrier out but the other went missing, not a sound from him ! We waited around and suddenly he appeared, so they were boxed up and off we went to catch up with the hunt.
  22. The hunt caught up with us and waited while the terriers were working the fox. It sounded like the terriers were settled in so the hunt moved off, and, Sods Law, a fox bolted as soon as they left. I slipped the 'Roo dog on it, but it got back amongst the rocks.
  23. The first draw was over a large grass paddock towards an abandoned quarry, We were at a vantage point and saw a fox enter the rocks, so we were straight there and a terrier was entered.
  24. We met up with the rest of the hunt, they had a small pack, (seven couple), of mixed hounds and thirteen mounted followers and a few car followers,
