  1. There was an advert in the CMW a while back, for Ridgeback/Greyhounds. They said it was a repeat mating and the previous litter were taking all game. Anyone on here got one from either of these litters, or seen one work ? Cheers.
  2. I think you are totally missing the point, the view Stabs & i were trying to get across is the pic/dogs are not impressive in that situation especially if you have seen plenty of smaller or less dogs in Australia & NZ cope just as well holding to enable someone to get in flip & stick the boar I didn't mention IMPRESSIVE, I said it was not UNUSUAL; having 3 or more dogs holding a pig is a bit like the Americans using 3 dogs to course a jack rabbit, not IMPRESSIVE, but not UNUSUAL, I neither condone nor condem the practice, (with pigs), simply stating facts. Cheers.
  3. Hi Stabs, I don't see anything unusual in those photo's as far as pig hunting is concerned. In N.Z. I've seen anything from 1 to 6 dogs being used. A mate of mine is a proffesional hunter and uses 4 dogs, a mixture of bailers and holders. As long as the pig is dispached as soon as possible and the dogs haven't taken to much stick, I don't see a problem. Cheers. P.S. When are you off down under ? I may be in Melbourne at the end of the year.
  4. Depends what "type" of whippet you get; This one, Blue Prince, (Blue Boy X Zarwood), was a 21" 36lb race bred whippet. Back in the 60's he took rabbit, hare, roe, and won many handicaps and was runner up in the "British Open". A real allrounder. Cheers.
  5. I remember about 20 years back a spate of doberman/greyhounds..... what the fu*ck for? I've often wondered why the Doberman hasn't been used more in Lurcher breeding. After all, they have Greyhound and terrier in their make up, have brains and trainability, certainly faster than a Bull, a bite like an alligator and a decent size. Some of the best pig dogs in Australia are from a brood bitch that is Doberman/Staghound. My own Doberman has caught rabbits and foxes, marks holes better than a terrier when ferreting and bushes like a Spaniel. She was proffesionaly trained as a guard dog before I
  6. I don't think "Bert" from BoarDogs will mind me putting up this picture of Toa, an EBT/Greyhound, unfortunatly killed by a boar when he was around 10 y.o. Cheers.
  7. '60s; whippets and Lambrettas, '70s; lurchers and any old van I could afford, '80s; saluki and Range Rover. Cheers.
  8. It's absolutly true about the Muslim day at Alton Towers, supposed to help "intergration" !!! What about the Hindu's who rented a feild off a farmer only a couple of miles from me , yesterday ? Didn't tell him what for, then cremated an illegal immigrant on a pyre !!! Worst part is the Northumbrian police won't do any thing even though it was illegal ! They would soon arrest me for coursing a hare in the same feild!! Not just in the Mail; BBC news, Reuters, etc. Cheers.
  9. No, you can have "Manslaughter" or "Attempted Murder". As "Manslaughter" is deemed to be non- premeditated it can't , in law , be "Attempted". As far as shooting a dog is concerned, he has every right to, if they are worrying stock or damaging crops, although he sounds a right c**t, anyway. I had a dog shot many years ago by a gamekeeper. There was no stock near and the feild was ploughed. Me and my brother were charged with "Trespass in pursuit of game or coney" and GBH, 'cause we gave him a hiding. The case was thrown out of court and the'keeper was charged and found guilty of unlawfully kil

Me and Longdogrunner had a mooch around the Northumberland Fells, not far from where the Border and Coquetdale Coursing Club used to operate, plenty of rabbits, fox, deer, but didn't see one hare in over three hours wandering about. I couldn't believe it. Cheers.
  11. In New Zealand they come in all sizes and colours, the ginger one with the straight tail is a "Captain Cooker" and grow huge. Allthough they are feral pigs, after a few generations they revert to type and are every bit as dangerous as the European Wild Boar. These two were taken, (allong with many more !!), around the Tokaroa area in the nineties. Cheers.
  12. Foxlamper; what makes you think the dog is going to be a big 'un if it is only 22" @ 15 month ? It is probably fully grown now. Cheers.
  13. Is the black and white a 1st cross, 'cause there was a big argument/discussion on here a while back where some said , (not me!), that it was impossible for a 1st cross to be feathered ? two beautiful dogs mate, heres a pic of a pure Saluki I had in the middle east a few years back. Cheers.
  14. Hi molly, I'm just getting my small pond established. A heron took the first lot of fish I put in, so I got a heron decoy, it seems to work, I've seen a heron on the roofs but it hasn't come down and the new fish are still there ! As for plants; why not put them in thosr plastic baskets available from garden centres, then you can reposition or remove as needed when they expand. Cheers.
  15. Lost me after the 1st sentence, Ian !!!, I'm happy now I can post pic's, will figure out the avatar thing in time, bear with us old farts !! Cheers.
  16. Where abouts in the north are you matti ? There is a breeding colony of wild boar, (not ferals), in Choppwell woods near Gateshead, escaped from a breeder a few years ago. Regularly seen and causing damage to the adjacent golf course. Cheers. I,m in cumbria not to far away from Gateshead, bet the golfers would like to see the back of them Do you live in the Gateshead area chartpolski? Born there but live on the other side of the river, Cheers.
  17. Haven't got a clue, mate!!! Couldn't post a pic, tried many times then suddenly o.k. !!! Then tried for an avatar, no luck, will keep trying !!! Cheers.
  18. Try again ! Hooray !!! It works !!!! Cheers.
  19. Now Now !!!! Mr. Millet, I didn't say that !!!! But it is far easier to put photo's up on smoochers, even for a computer illiterate like me. Cheers.
  20. Just checking to see if I can add photo's now. Cheers. Nope; It keeps telling me something about my "Global Limit", these are the same photo's that I can upload to smoochers no problem ? Cheers.

  22. A white rabbit escaped into the nature reserve behind my house and there has been pure white and particoloured offspring for 2 seasons now. I chase them daily with my pup and believe me, they are every bit as fast and wary as their normal coloured siblings !!! I did put up a photo on smoochers a while ago, I'll take the camera out and see if I can get some more photos. Cheers.
  23. Bullsmilk, I take it you mean rats are mammals also ?? Of course you are right, but read the "Hunting Act, 2004" and you will find that the hunting of ALL mammals with dogs is banned, with the exception of rats and rabbits, subject to certain restrictions, (i.e., you must have permission), please don't any one reply saying I'm wrong, as the act is such a f**k up, even human rights lawers are having a hard time interpreting it. (and I tend to totally ignore it, anyway.). Cheers.
  24. Sorry Mistwalker, but it is a "mammal" and covered by the ban. You could probably flush it to gun, but I'd want a f*****g big gun !!, (and some big bloody "flushing dogs"!!! Cheers.
  25. This thread is turning into crap !! A.S.D., you should be above this, you've nowt to prove. If I was into daytime hares I would have a "fen dog", if lamping was my game I would try for a "Minshaw", as it happens I do a bit of everything, so I hope my dog will be an "allrounder", She will not excell on daytime hares or phenomenal night time bags, but she will keep a "moocher "like me happy, (hopefully !!). Cheers.
