  1. I think the dogs you show are Silken, also known as Windhounds, basically a cross between whippet and Borzoi. I think they are recognised by the Canadian KC, and possibly the AKC, there are a few breeders in Europe aswell. http://www.borzoi.cc/gryffynsaeyrie/silkens.htm Cheers.
  2. Sorry Kate, but your remark about "ugly mutts" IS ignorant ! Plenty of people who work crossbreeds find them just as, or more, attractive than purebreds, many of which bare little resemblence to the origional working dogs; having been changed beyond recognition by the show fraternity. Cheers.
  3. I take it you mean sea fishing ? Used to be great, years ago. We used to get the bus up from Newcastle when we were kids. Don't know what it's like now. If you fancy a bit of trout fishing, Fontburn and Keilder are not that far away. Cheers.
  4. Hi Molly, I may be wrong, but do you lived in Northumberland ? Anyway, there are Muntjac at Keilder, don't know how far they have spread yet. We had one run past the cabin, 100% munty, The local farmers and poachers at Falstone, just below the dam, told me where to see plenty of them, will try and get pics next time I'm there fishing. Cheers.
  5. Nice; but shouldn't they be in the "shooting" forum; this is the "show" forum. Cheers.
  6. Yeah Pat, she won her class again, she's standing a lot better, now she's a bit older. We will be at Blanchland on sunday, are you going ? Cheers.

  9. Last week had 20 rainbows using only pink powerbait eggs. Yesterday couldn't get a bite, at the same place, no matter what we tried. Once had a trout full of tab ends !!!! When they are feeding they will take just about anything. Cheers.

  11. Still don't really understand this , 1st you ask if anyone had heard of the dog and that you "heard" it was a good'un; then you proceed to tell us all about it and that you have dug to it.......... Confused me Cheers.

  17. I've read this thread with interest, and avoided comment, up 'till now, because it's a very emotive subject. In my opinion, yes, we should support ALL types of hunting, (and fishing and shooting, come to that !!), but I saw that "Carted Deer" video a while ago, and was frankly disgusted by it. It can in no way be classed as HUNTING in the true sense. Taking a park deer and transporting it to somewhere and giving it a bit start and setting a pack of hounds after it, THEN recapturing it and taking it back to the park to wait for another days "sport" is only ammunition to the anti's, in my opinio
  18. Hi Frank, my arabic is getting a bit rusty now, but Slooqi w theeb, means saluki and wolf in arabic. Judjing by the sound track, they are arabs, and the wolf is more common on the Arabian Penninsula than the Jackal. And yes, the Arabian wolf is smaller than the American or european varieties. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabian_Wolf Cheers.
  19. well knob.. i wouldnt take out pups that were not ready to get in about, which they obviosly aint, they didnt even have a chew o and as for wantin that dog in your kennels it dont really say much for what your keeping now dos it, ok it went well for a saluki but its work rate etc is absolutly no difference to alot of lurchers that go with things with teeth week in week out... I've got dogs in my kennel that do what I want them to do. There aren't any Arabian Wolves around here, but I had a Saluki that woud kill Wild dogs in the middle east. You obviously have great experience of d
