  1. No mate, I think you got great dogs like that by breeding the best to the best ! Just as some of us in the UK try the same !! But then again, we haven't the quarry here that you have over there; we just wish we had !! Cheers.
  2. She has got a huge back end for a pup, hasn't she !!?? LDR was on the phone today asking when I'm starting her; but theres pleanty time for that !! I'm hoping it's the old "Hybrid Vigour" and maybe she'll win a match or two !! See you up in Neilston, come and have a craic with an old man !! LOL !! Cheers.
  3. The 1st and 3rd pics are the double of my pup, except mine is dark brindle, but it shows they throw true to type ! Heres mine, couple of poor 'phone pics from a couple of months ago; Cheers.
  4. Did I judge your dog and bitch litter mates at Neilston ? Did one of them die doing what it was bred for ? If so, they were cracking dogs. Maybe I'm mistaken, (old age !! LOL !!), I'll be at Neilston this year, and if I'm not roped into judging, I'll probably show the pup. Hope to see you there. Your'e right, Doxhope bred their dogs for conformation for the field, not the ring ! Thats what attracted me to this pup. But Billy dosen't own the stud dog, he bred it, but a guy in Sunderland owns it. 'Becky is the grandmother of my pup, and I understand she was a class working Deerhound. Anyhow, hop
  5. Haven't got any pics that do her justice, mate. She isn't 9 month old yet, but is around 28 1/2" and 70lb, and shaping up exactly as I wanted and expected from this breeding. Cheers.
  6. Why ? I'd like to hear your oppinion. I have a bitch pup at the moment by "Doxhope Knights Errant", out of a well bred Irish Greyhound bitch. Cheers.
  7. Perhaps people don't realise that places like Aintree, in Liverpool, and Gosforth Park, in Newcastle, were great coursing grounds until the mechanical hare took over and these great coursing grounds became HORSE racing parks, and the coursing dogs that attracted 10's of thousands of supporters were reduced to chasing a mechanical hare round in circles ? Cheers.
  8. I thought the Stags over your way and down in Oz were heavily Deerhound blooded, Dan ?? Cheers.
  9. And you'd write a great book ...... if you could get a decent interpreter to ghostwright it for you !! LOL !! Cheers.
  10. This c**t DID run one, as I said; in a display. Cheers.
  11. I've never ran a Lurcher in simulated coursing, (I once ran a KC Whippet in a display, slipped by a Waterloo Cup slipper), but I once enquired about running a little Lurcher bitch I had. The organiser said she would have to wear a muzzle; I said the dogs didn't wear muzzles in the Waterloo Cup or the Forley, and declined to enter ! Anyway; from watching it, it appears that a dog who runs "smart" will not win, if a dog follows the lure thru' the "gates", it will win ! Bit of a waste of time in my oppinion, neither the fastest or smartest dog wins !! Cheers.
  12. I may have been a bit flippant with my reply.... but up here is sheep country and there's any amount of horses. A farmer will not hesitate to shoot a stock worrying dog, and none of us want a dead dog!! Go to the county fairs and shows, let the dog see sheep and even if she doesn't show interest, make her aware that stock is an absolute no - no !! Take her for walks thr'u National Trust land, on a lead !!, and let her see stock, but be hard on her, if she even looks at them, punish her !! I don't believe that once a dog has worried sheep or horses, it can ever be completely trusted, but best o
  13. A good bloody hiding...... or a bit of lead behind it's lug !!
  14. Forty odd years ago, a mate of mine wanted to come out with me to give his track dog a "freshener" on hare, first run it hit a fence post and broke it's neck !! Last year a trainer I know, took two track dogs for a walk on a golf course; normaly there isn't even rabbits on this course, but Sods Law, they took off after a deer; one broke it's neck, the other broke a hock !! I stress that these dogs were track dogs, they hadn't been brought up to hunt. Were they unlucky, or just the norm for a track Greyhound ? Who knows ?? Cheers.
  15. Enjoyed the Borzoi coursing..... that land made the Fens look like my back garden !!!! Cheers.
  16. I've seen ex track Greyhounds that could destroy hare, fox and roe; unfourtunately I've also seen ex track greyhounds destroy THEMSELVES on hare, fox and Roe, on their first run ! I've never had the opportunity to bring a Greyhound pup up as a "Lurcher", but I'm sure it could be done ! Cheers.
  17. Happy Anniversary, Tom , for the Declaration Of Arbroath !!! Cheers.
  18. I can't speak for LDR, but if next years comp goes ahead, you'll be in the frame; unlike the arsehole with a 1000 names who is still trying to ruin it !! LOL !! It WILL be invite only, to keep the JACKERS and WHINgers out !! Cheers.
  19. Until some tree hugging rambler see's them and calls the police ! Cheers.
  20. When I read the report, I thought "what the hell do they expect !!!!".... six of them, saturday afternoon, walking fields where it's realy hot !!! Are they to lazy to get up at daybreak and have a mooch around by themselves or just with a mate ??? No sympathy here !! Cheers.
  21. Davey, your pup has Doxhope and Ardkinglas breeding on the Sires side;; http://kilbournedeerhounds.com/pedcreate.php?code=18497 Cheers.
  22. I've allways thought the 'arab would make a good addition to lurcher blood, also the catahoula, pity we don't have them here in the UK. The Borzoi we have here have more or less been ruined by the KC and the Wolfhound would add nothing at all to the lurcher, they are not the same dogs as you have down there, unfortunately. Cheers.
  23. Sorry lad. what I am asking is what is the best all round pure bred dog in your opinion. if a pure grey and a pure whippet is not an option. that help? Well in that case, the best "all rounder" in my mind would be a Saluki or a Deerhound, but neither would make a good allrounder. Cheers. Can a greyhound though in your opinion? No Dan, I don't think a Greyhound can make a good "allrounder", but, to me, they have to be the base blood in any running dog, and I personaly like about 50 percent Grey in a running dog Cheers.
