    Nah, mate, we were talking Lurchers, but I did have a craic with some other people about the dogs you had, Allmost Bob's and , was it, Sugar Rush ? That's the thing about a day at the Whippets; pleanty of craic about running dogs in general, with people who know what they are talking about !! Cheers.

    Just got back from a grand day out watching these little flyers running at Cambois Greyhound track. The sun was shining, even though it was a bit nippy, but the track was perfect. Not a big turn out of dogs, but some excellant racing. One dog caught my eye, Mazuma, 31lb; he did a time of 15.10, and speaking to one of the Greyhound guys there, he assured me this is faster than most Greys do around this track !! Had a good craic with a lot of peope, and great to see Sowhat, (Jeff), and have a yarn with him. I was also amazed to see a little bitch, 26lb, that is around 7/8th Greyhound !! Good luc

    I agree with the sentiment, Bunnys; but "Rabbiting" was the exclusive sport of the gentry at one time ! They had "warrens" built on their land, and employed "Warrenners" to make sure there was enough rabbits for their sport ! Thank god those days are gone ! Cheers.

    Its not a whippet though is it.The old boys i grew up around would never have tried to pass a near pure greyhound off as a non ped whippet. As I said earlier, some tracks up here, years ago, didn't care if your dog was a Whippet, Greyhound or Lurcher, as long as it fit in the trap. I, personaly, think the BWRA sold it's soul when it raised the wheight limit from 32lb to 55lb !! For gods sake, smaller Greyhounds have won the Waterloo Cup !! I think they should have kept the 32lb limit for all racing . That would have made people think twice about breeding 3/4 Greyhounds. If a dog made the

I raced an unregistered Greyhound bitch at the Whippet tracks in the 70's; she was about 23" and 40lb.... wouldn't look out of place at all now, not with the insane 55lb limit the BWRA has ! Cheers.

All untrue, as everyone knows, yet you never apologised !!! You said you would run the next one, so LDR dropped out and left it to you, but you didn't do it, and made, and still make, some pathetic excuses why you didn't run it !! Man up and admit you were wrong to slag the comp and lie about the organiser and bottled out of running your own competition !!

    The lads from Hawick come down to Westerhope and the Rising Sun tracks, Westerhope is in the west of Necastle and the Rising Sun is in the east of Newcastle. Not a great lot of dogs, but you would be made very welcome ! Cheers.

    Birddog, there has been two THL Lamping Competitions; there wasn't a third becase a very small minority, including Whin, slagged the comp and the organiser so much, that he decided it wasn't worth the abuse to run another one ! Whin said HE would run the next one, and promised all sorts of things........ Of course, it didn't come off, because Whin, as usual, was all talk !! So don't hold your breath waiting for Whin to organise "some sort of working trial" !! He'l talk a whole load of nonsense about Coyotes, Lobsters, D.Slieight, Kizzy, etc... but nothing will come of any competition !! Believ

    Bob, I have an old dairy from 1972, and I kept records of my matches. I ran Rch Kinky Boy, getting 3 yards off him with a pup out of Red Baron for £74, I won, and they wanted a re-match for the same money and yards... I won again ! LOL ! Then I got greedy and gave Bunny Girl 2 yards for £50 and lost...... but still came out on top !! I don't think they have match racing now for money, but it was a big thing in the 60's & 70's.     Indian Joe was a tremendous dog, about 3/4 Greyhound-1/4 Whippet.He is in the blood of some great Saluki X coursing dogs. Cheers.

    Smaller weaker pups can turn out to be the best/strongest out of a litter Thats a fallacy. Usually when a runt is born, it stays the runt ! It's only people who buy them or take them on that think they turn out well ! It maybe 100/1 or 1000/1 0r 10000/1 that a runt turns out best/strongest in a litter, but the VAST majority of runts stay that way.....runts; no matter how much you love or nurture them . Cheers.

    No arguing there mate, non peds are probably 5-10yds infront of a good pedie whippet over 150 yds. I have been to Old hall non ped club with my pedies the last few winters to give thm a run, they give me a 5yd handicap and I never beat them. When I was Handicapper at Coxlodge W.R.C. we had two Pedigree Whippets running with the Non-Peds, Silver Fox and Silver Birch. They allways sat of the top mark, 21 yards, and I can't ever remember them winning a heat. Recently, there has been the odd Ped coming to Westerhope track, and the times they do mean they would get the top mark, but would ha
