  3. Lets be fair here ! Runts are runts, and no matter how many people say THEIR runt turned out to be the best in the litter, the vast majority of runts either die or are not as good as their siblings ! Lets get real; this is HUNTING LIFE, not JACKONORY ! Many runts have been succesfuly brought on, but, in general, the runt of a litter is usualy the worst. Cheers.
  4. I got banned from another site for mentioning "culling", but surely if people put more thought into breeding and bred less litters, and only from the best; there would be no need to cull ? Cheers.
  5. Whats "ascholled" ? Is it some type of Germanic Hunting Dog ? Cheers. Think he ment ( A schooled smaller type )  I was being facetious mate, Im sure Matthew will understand ! LOL ! Cheers. i got it lol im just amazed you managed to come up with anything when faced with ascholled I realy hope that Mattie is just taking the piss with his insane ramblings and atrocious spelling ! I've a feeling he isn't as daft as he makes out !! LOL ! If he is that daft, there are a series of governments in this country that should hold up their han

  8. Rocky;it's great that you champion the "big dogs"; but lets be fair..... I've owned everything from Whippets to Deerhound X's, and ran them all on rabbits; but a 29" to 31" dog MAY catch rabbits....... but a good 23" to 26" dog SHOULD do far better than the BIG dogs on rabbit !! ATB mate !! Cheers.
  9. Did you paint that yourself Chart ? I acquired some herris fencing and started painting it, I done about two meshes and then decided the natural look was better lol No mate, it came in red ! It is usualy un-painted; but I'll take it in any colour if it's for nowt !! Cheers.
  10. I've just built a chicken cree out of Harris Fence, but I didn't pay £20 a panel ! Cheers.
  11. Just chicken wire mate. The dogs are out most of the day and once they are fed and settled, they don't move, In fact, they could both jump out the run if they wanted to, but they dont. Cheers. cheers mate trying to find some decent mesh for the run but its proving a tough job at a decent price! im in 2 minds weather to use chicken mesh just incase the dog just pulls it off the frame if he wants to get out the run Chicken mesh is useless if a dog even scratches at it. I'm lucky; I've had plenty of lads and lasses from this site up here for a run or two, and their d

  13. I like that !!! Is it EBT X Whippet ? Cheers.
  14. That's one hell of a size for a Grew, mate Cheers. being 2nd gen i suppose it just threw heavilly to the gh side I don't disbelieve the lad; but I've seen any amount of 1st X Whippet/Greys, and 2nd and 3rd generations, even 1/4 Whippet/3/4 Greys that haven't made that size. Of course it's possible, but a Grew the size of a Deer X would be very unusual. Cheers.
  15. That's one hell of a size for a Grew, mate Cheers.
  16. I've got a 29" 1st X deer/grey bitch. She wasn't bred or brought in for rabbits, but takes then day and night. Wouldn't be my first choice for rabbits, but she does O.K. on them. Cheers.
  17. Welcome, mate What area of the Toon ? Cheers.
  18. I don't see why people should be EXPECTED to give pups away for free. If I bred a litter, they would be for myself, family and friends, for free, but that would be my choice. I have been offered pups in the past that were well bred, for free, but wern't what I wanted or needed, so I didn't accept the offer. I also had a call from a bloke offering to place a pure Saluki with me, but his conditions were unacceptable. When I've seen a breeding I like, I have no hesitation in paying for a pup. It's great that people give pups to good working homes for free, but as I say, it shouldn't be EXPECTED.
  19. Are you netting these hares for a purpose, i.e. tagging, relocating, etc? Or are you clearing the land for the farmer, or just taking one or two for the pot ? Unless you can count on the full backing of the landowner/farmer, I think the police would still try to do you for coursing, wether netting is legal or not. Cheers.
  20. Yes it will. It'll affect his prey drive, sex drive, aggresion, and if not properly controlled, it will turn him fat and lazy. Cheers.
  21. Thanks pal He's 4 year old, and the underkeeper James tells me he takes F & R, he stands about 23 1/2" Are you getting back into the lurchers, mate ? Cheers.
  22. Why ? What if they are lost or stolen ? I get all my dogs chipped, Newcastle Council comes to your house and does them for free. You also get cheaper insurance if they are chipped. Cheers.
  23. Sounds like he had a fit thru' running him to hard and unfit. You're lucky he came round, I know dogs that didn't !! If he were mine, I'd have him checked out by a vet. Cheers.
  24. You're dead right mate ! I saw a litter advertised at £250 each. I did my homework, and they were exactly what I wanted. It was a 500 mile round trip, but I would travel any distance for the right pup. Anyhow, when I got there, it turned out we had mutual friends from years ago, the seller insisted I have the pick for £200, and then gave me £20 back for luck !!! A genuine bloke, and I would gladly have given the £250 for a pup I wanted ! Cheers.
