I had night vision over 30 years ago, I bought two Russian sets off some Dhagastani Haji’s . Tried them once out lamping and sold them. I’d rather just go with my lamp. Same with daytime, just me and the dog. You lads are paying more for thermals than I pay for a car ! Thermals, range finders, binoculars ? Just get a gun FFS ! LOL ! Cheers.

I go out daytime to enjoy the walk with the dogs and get a run or two on a hare……not to creep about, tooled up like an SAS Trooper reconnoitring enemy lines ! LOL ! Cheers.

Yes, not just dogs but birds and all things countryside. He once asked if he could use some photo’s of my dogs in the update of his book “Deerhounds and Deerhound Lurchers “ and I sent him the pics, but the publisher said they were copies and not good enough and needed the originals which I sadly didn’t have. Again, a lurcher man whose dad had non-ped whippets ! Cheers.

No mate, I’ve heard of him but never met him . Deer/Greys we’re very popular here in the north east before the saluki cross came along. Billy Doherty and his dad bred some great pure and cross deerhounds, (Doxhope), that performed great on hare and roe. My pal bred some top class deerhounds, (Seaton Valley Deerhounds). I haven’t allways been a “deerhound” man, I’ve had everything from Salukis to beddy types to whippets, even once had a collie cross ! I keep an open mind and as I’m now well into my 70’s I may just end up back with a whippet. You can have great fun with a lurc

My pal sent this pure deerhound up to Scotland for a lad to work with his golden eagle; Cheers.

I was talking to a friend of mine from Manchester the other night who has a half brother to my deer/grey bitch and we agreed that it would be a shame if genuine working deerhounds and deer greys die out. Both our dogs have Doxhope and Ardingclass , ( Miss Nobles line), in them and top class Irish coursing greyhound blood. Both pure and cross deerhounds are a joy to see in full flight on a hare or roe daytime. Of course there are better crosses, and I’ve had some, but the deerhound types are easy going and easy on the eye….I like them. Cheers.

Running dogs come in all shapes and sizes, but there’s a certain beauty about them….. Cheers.

To be fair mate, trying to decipher mC’s and your posts can be a little difficult ! LOL ! But no offence meant to either of you and I apologise if I have caused any . Cheers.

Fixed that for you mate ! LOL ! Cheers.

One true story is him and his mates were on an all night bender and ran out of booze, so phoned “Dial A Drink” . They had no money so when the Paki arrived with the drink, they beat him up, tied and gagged him and dumped him and his van out in the country. Of course they got lifted and he did an eight stretch for aggravated kidnap. A lovely lad, but not the brightest ! Cheers.

But you don’t go to jail at 13 ! And I was brought up on one of the toughest council estates in the north east, Longbenton. Cheers.

I’ve got an Irish mate who I grew up with, went to school with, lived next door to. He’s the nicest lad you’ll ever meet, do anything for anyone, but is a complete Walt ! He tells my nephew and his pals stories like how he was Nigel Benns sparring partner but Nigel had to let him go because Nigel told him “ Sean, you’ve got the hardest punch I’ve ever been hit with and I don’t want to get hurt” ! He also tells when he was in the SAS and did HALO parachute drops. All complete nonsense of course, but he’s a good laugh ! Cheers.

Going to jail at 13 ??? When was this, the 19th century when you refused to go up a chimney or down a mine ? LOL ! Cheers.

Move to Dubai, it’s about the only place I know where there is saluki racing . Cheers.

Right now in one of the greenhouses; Outside temp; 60. Inside temp; 84. Humidity a low 36. Bright sunshine 15:40 . Like a summers day in sunny Northumberland! LOL ! Cheers.

Like a spring day here, crocus’s, Daffs all coming out . Over 70 in my greenhouses. Surprised a fox lying sunning itself a couple of hours ago on my way to the allotment. Bitch lad a lunge at it as it went over a fence into the gardens, lucky b*****d. I’ll only run a hare now when I want one for the pot. Busy time at the allotments just now getting everything ready for spring ! Cheers.

A pal has just posted a video on my WhatsApp group of the hares up here pairing up. threes, fours, fives all boxing and chasing each other. I’ve tried to post it on here but says wrong format. Cheers.

Sankey bred and worked some of the very best, but I avoided the “big name “ Daywalkers ! LOL ! Far to much jealousy and lies. Ive got some of the best hare land around me so never saw the attraction of the Fens. I saw some of the best Northumberland dogs that most will never have heard of; Thor, The Widdrington Train etc, and of course Bruce the rescue dog, who I went out with many times and had the pleasure to have in my kennel a few times . I attended the Border & Coquetdale Coursing Club , greyhound coursing and ran whippets and lurcher myself so wasn’t to bothered abo

Conversely, in Scratch Racing, it is usually the dogs that win, probably, as mC said, because the dogs are bigger and stronger. Cheers.

Interesting question. I don’t know the answer concerning coursing dogs, but I checked with non-ped Racing Champions , and when the Supreme Champion bitch was run off against the Supreme Champion dog, the bitches won 13-2 ! Cheers.

Slightly off topic, but I’d never seen a Merle poodle in the flesh. A quick Google and it appears they have been crossed with other breeds that carry the Merle gene, even maybe as far as four generations back . Learn something everyday ! Cheers.

How many times have I told you ? Read, then re-read what you have written, add punctuation and only then press “send”. Your half term report will reflect your lack of effort !!! Cheers.

I imagine Wilfy sitting in his wind swept , rain sodden man cave, much like myself, pontificating on world affairs like some old sage or shaman, not always getting it right, but worth listening to as its thought provoking. Im not sure if he smiles benificently or rages , again like myself, at some of the comments he reads on here ! LOL ! But, I respect all opinions wether I agree with them or not . Cheers.

Do you mean “gold” ? Its still there, it was that Labour lunatic Brown who sold off all our gold. He advertised the sale so the speculators dropped the price and he sold it at a “low”, and he was “Chancellor of the Exchequer “ !! So even if the conspiracy theory that Fort Knox is empty, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least ! Cheers.

Has anyone just watched Trump’s CPAC speech ? I have, and there’s nothing, absolutely nothing, I disagree with . Why oh why can’t we have a leader who loves and puts his country first ? Cheers.
