I asked Hamed Guhnaim if he preferred feathered or smooth, he said coat and colour made absolutely no difference to performance; I personally prefer the feathered black & tans, but my preference is based on nothing more than aesthetics; Cheers.

My missus is going shortly, just got her new evisa, multiple exit re-entry, done in minutes. No visa necessary for the UAE, so I’m surprised that anyone really into Salukis doesn’t have a trip out there and see them first hand. Cheers.

We used to fly in crate loads of Thompsons from Africa for the Saudis to run with their Salukis. But it’s not all droppers, the Bedouin are allowed to hunt for meat and the rich have “ hunting camps”; a huge convoy of water trucks, catering trucks, trucks carrying the tents , carpets , etc and a fleet of Land Cruisers. They go on hunting trips for days. I know Saudi and Emirates who fly their dogs and falcons to Pakistan and North Africa to hunt gazelle and bustard. I used to be in the desert every week end with my dogs, but to be honest, if you saw a hare, let alone got a r

In my younger days I was a regular at “Rotten Rodney’s “ snooker hall at South Shield’s, sadly long gone. I regularly had 50+ breaks, due more to my opponent’s incompetence than my skill, but now I’m just an armchair fan. To misquote the Great Groucho ; “I have my political views, but I also have others” ! LOL ! Dogma and intransigence has no room in my thinking. Happy Lent, Ramadan and whatever other archaic and irrelevant religious nonsense is going on just now. Cheers.

Was hit by a wave of nostalgia scrolling through the pages of the auction, as I’m just about old enough to remember shops like the Ironmongers, the Drapers, the Hardware store , etc. If I won tonight’s Euro Lottery, I’d be bidding on a lot of that stuff and filling rooms in my mansion with it. Sadly I’ll just have to stick with my man cave to remind of what seems like a simpler and better past…… Cheers.

A DEERHOUND x ?!?!?! In a coursing bred ? Sacrilege , I say , SACRILEGE ! You’ll be giving my pal mC nightmares ! LOL ! Cheers.
-
Don’t, DON’T !!! How many times do I have to tell you ? Ignore that juicy worm !!!! PMSL ! Cheers.
-
I knew I had a pic of Tom and another kilt wearing Jock ! Cheers.
-
He was involved in the Neilson Working Terrier Club in Glasgow. More into terriers than lurchers. Did you hear the one about the English Man, the Scotsman and the Irish Man ? Another eccentric Jock when I was judging at Birr Castle in Ireland . Cheers,
-
Do you know Foxgun Tom, mate ? He was a great pal of mine and often wore his kilt with a foxes head sporran ! Cheers.
-
Just get a bigger sporran ! Cheers.
-
I think mC was actually supporting you, mate. Deciphering his posts can be hard work, but it’s become an obsession of mine, a bit like doing the Times Crossword; very difficult, but worth it when you finally crack it ! LOL ! Cheers.
-
“I think we need a bigger barrow, mister mC !” Cheers.
-
He’s following mC on a 30 miler, collecting all the dead game ! Cheers.

Well how about that ? A thread about coursing and daywalking with lots of pics of dogs, great craic and some gentle Micky taking ! Over 200 pages and no spitting the dummy out….Unheard of ! LOL ! Cheers.

There’s an abundance of them around here. I get them in my garden at home and it sets the bitch off, I know there’s one in the garden when she starts throwing herself at the kennel bars ! They are digging under the fences at the allotments to get at the birds, so I’ve set a few snares. One wiped out all of my Cayuga ducks. When lamping and the dog gets a rabbit the squeals bring them in, swing the lamp around and you’ll see five or six pairs of eyes. Im seeing more and more during daytime. Cheers.

Beddy man is a good pal of mine, been out with him many times. Cheers.
-
I’ve met him, but I consider him a total shithouse. He was forever inviting me to have a run out but I want nothing to do with him. Been out with a good few lads, and been up your way many times. I don’t travel far now, I’ve got hares, fox, roe literally minutes walks from home, enough to keep me and the dogs busy. ”whippet x’s can’t do it in dec:Jan” ? Hmmm , reminds me of someone, just can’t put my finger on it ! LOL ! Cheers.
-
I not saying Selby is Hull, I’ve ran all around there. I told you before, my pal had permission at Selby. Cheers.
-
Northumberland fells, mate. I’ll run a dog anywhere, heather and scree up the highlands, down to the fens, across to the paddocks of Ireland, even ran around the Hull area and Selby ! LOL ! A hares a hare to me, they’re not a mythical beast, your dog will catch or it won’t. Anyway , Whin never tired of telling us the best hares in the world were around the east coast and Berwick…..ran them aswell ! LOL ! I just try and enjoy my sport, no need to pretend I’ve got the best dogs, best land and best hares. Cheers.
-
Fox and deer you say ? Hmm, maybe I’ll give them a go sometime ! LOL ! Maybe you can give me a few tips ? You’re a star , mate, you put a smile on an old man’s world weary face ! Cheers.
-
You’re a trier mate, but you need to try even harder to get me to bite ! LOL ! I guess all the hares I’ve killed over the years must have been imaginary ! PMSL ! Eight year old 1st cross deer/ grey with an imaginary hare , mid winter in the wet, single handed . Cheers.
-
Utter nonsense ! LOL ! Cheers.
-
Most types will catch a hare if they have a decent percentage of running dog in them but it doesn’t make them “hare dogs”. The saluki hybrid is undoubtedly, in my mind, the best “hare dog”, but that doesn’t necessarily make them the best lurcher. ”Horses for courses “, as they say. Cheers. PS, no such thing as “daft questions”, only “daft answers”

Lewis Hall ruled out of the final aswell now…… Cheers.
