Ear damage in hares; Caused by parasites, evidently. Cheers.
-
Maybe they can, but I certainly can’t ! I can tell how good a hare is once a dog is slipped on it, but no way I can say “ that hares got five minutes in it” or “ that hares only good for a minute” just by looking at it standing or sitting in a field. Im certainly no expert, but I’ve seen and ran more than my fair share of hares and could probably say, “that hare with the huge head and torn ears looks like an old buck” or “ that little hare looks like a leveret or small doe”, but I wouldn’t be so presumptuous to look at a hare sitting in a field and say “that hare looks like it’s got fi

You can tell how good a hare is just by looking at it, not running it ??? As Rudyard would say; “ you’re a better man than me, Gunga Din” ! LOL ! Cheers.

The Slipper in organised greyhound coursing won’t slip the dogs on a weak or “spent” hare. They slip with 100 yards law as the object is to test the dogs against each other, not to kill the hare. Id of thought people would slip on the strongest of hares, with fair law, to see how good their dog is. Different scenario if you are out for one for the pot, I’ll take kick ups or out of the seat if that’s the case, but for sport , you want good hares and fair law. Cheers.

Same here, but I remember my granny referring to a dish cloth as a “dish clout, or “cloot “ aswell. Cheers.

Leave him alone ! He’s just called me “laddie” ! LOL ! Cheers.
-
I allways thought “clout “ was an old northern term for clothing , meaning don’t take off your winter clothes until you’re sure it’s summer, I.e. after May. Cheers.

Evidently King George was loathe to give up America and Parliament over ruled him. Theres a disputed saying supposedly from the Russian Czar “ I fear my cousin George has gone mad ! He should have given up London and kept the Americas “ ! Maybe not accurate or true, but definitely thought provoking ! Cheers.

It’s debatable, but the 13 colonies declared independence in 1776, and Washington became President of America. The war ended in 1783, so it was a win for America. We didn’t let them have independence, the British General Lord Cornwallis surrendered to the American Army at Yorktown in 1781 leading to the British Parliament voting to end the war and withdraw. so, at the beginning of the war, it was colonists rebelling, but by the end of the war it was an independent country defeating its former colonial master. Thats just the way I see it, others will have differing opinions,

Philip was a Prince in his own right as Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark. On marrying Queen Elizabeth, she made him a Prince of the UK, with the title His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh . Prince Albert was a Prince in his own right, as Prince Albert of Saxe Coburg and Gotha. On marrying Queen Victoria, she made him a Prince of the Uk with the title His Royal Highness, Prince Consort. Queen Elizabeth evidently wanted Camila to be titled Her Royal Highness , the Queen Consort, even though the Palace said she would “only” be a duchess, but after the Queens death and h

I well remember my mate who was a coal man, delivering coal on a horse drawn cart. He would carry a sack of coal up to my third floor flat, drink a bottle of brown ale I gave him , and be back down the stairs and onto the cart before the horse had walked on to the next tenement ! Cheers.

We were lied to all along; first they said she would never be Queen, just a duchess. Then we were told she would be Queen Consort, now she is Her Majesty The Queen. Not bad for a woman who cheated on her husband…. Cheers.

No, I may have possibly been giving some legitimacy to the car. Or it may have just been a nice gesture from my brother in law. Cheers.
-
True story; I was home on leave and my late brother in law said “ don’t hire a car, use one of mine”. It was a nice nearly new nondescript Vauxhall, taxed and M.O.T’d and I got insurance, so all legal. Id had some instruction at the British Embassy in Saudi about driving; be aware, drive defensively, change routes and times, keep plenty space between vehicles, etc, but I had the uneasy feeling whilst driving this car that I could be being followed. I found out later, after he died, that it was a pool car for the tab runs on the ferry ! I like to think he was being nice to me, b

Yes, it’s much faster than ordinary yeast, but you can still get good results with bakers yeast if you use Turbo Klar finings to clear the wine. If you’re not in a hurry , bakers yeast is much cheaper than Turbo yeast. Cheers.

“ If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen” Harry S Truman. Its as simple as that, really…. Cheers

But we were very active ! LOL ! Nowadays it’s called “ADHD” ! Cheers.

Let me use “reductio ad absurdum” to counter your point; If America declared war on the UK and defeated us, it wouldn’t count as an American victory, as the American President, Trump, is half Scottish through his mother, Washington was more American than Trump. Cheers.

George Washington . His family were from Washington , Tyne and Wear. His ancestral home is still here; Washington Old Hall. Cheers.

Hanoi is probably nicer now than London ! LOL ! Cheers.

The American Continental Army, with the assistance of the French and the Spanish. Cheers.

The local council planted plum trees next to my allotment, (very nice of them), years ago, yellow, red and black, alternately, and there’s a community orchard a few hundred yards away with apples and pears, loads of blackberries, elderberries and sloes all around, so plenty of raw materials, but I’ve also made decent wine using Lidl’s 2 litre summer fruits juice. Demijohns waiting to be pressure washed and steam cleaned; Cheers.
