    here we go again Thats the one thing I can never understand about this board. If you got a dog takin hares then I am glad for ya, if ya got one taken fox then good deal. Cant understand why folks cant be happy that their neighbors got a good dog. If my neighbor had a dog better then my bitch then I would be breeding my bitch to his dog or gettin a pup from him. Its quite simple really.

    Of course, if you got big pigeons like we got over here in the states then you might need a little bullcross in the mix also. You know, everything over here is bigger and better and we all think that way so just get used to it. HAHAHA! All Americans are real assholes ya know.

    If you really want to take pigeons with a dog though you might look into breeding a bitch to this up and coming pigeond stud dog though. I here he is puttin pups on the ground that can really fly.

    I would cull the dog if you plan on it being a pigeon dog. It might not make an all arounder for ya but it looks like it might make a good couch potato like me. Always gotta look at the bright side.

    There really is no breeding behind these staghound type dogs. They are just coyote dogs derived mostly from deerhound types and greyhound types with this and that thrown in over the years for whatever one might have thought it necessary. Most of them are extremely fast. And.....yes some of them will catch coyotes in these plowed fields or this rough running faster than track greyhounds especially if some of these greyhounds have gotten their ass handed to them a time or two.     Here could be a very deadly combo if they were still around. Very fast with some fight on the left and he was just a pup. And.........bull cross type speed but lethal on the right.

    I think this was about my 7th or 8th year yote hunting Kye and I have always managed to put up a few coyotes even with dogs that were sub par so come on over and I promise we will catch a few.

    When you are ready to put your dogs on coyotes, you just give me a shout. I will show you a few things I have learned and maybe you can teach me somethint too. I will tell you this for sure. You do not need to have a rig. I do not have one and I have caught quite a few coyotes this year. Not as much as the guys who truck them but I do not live in that kind of country but if I did, I know I would still not need a rig. There is nothing wrong at all with one but I promise you, you do not have to have one to get started.

    I really dont know the years on them photos. When I first started yote hunting this is how we did it but with inferior dogs, kind of like lurchers actually. I did it cause I also wanted dogs that would tree coons and take other game at the time but now I am a straight up coyote hunter and am going back to hunting coyotes off of my mules but with alot better dogs now.

    Two more old photos. These guys and their dogs were the ones responsible for clearing the west of all the coyotes and wolves back in the day. These wolves were not the wolves we have had introduced in the country today though. They were usually solitary type wolves more like coyotes and they ranged between 50 and 70 pounds.

    There aint no tellin how most any of these dogs are bred. They have been bred here for a couple hundred years to do this game. Usually aint no this cross or that cross, just coyote dogs.

    This first pic is a young pup. Its kind of an indication though of what alot of coyote hunters look for. Big powerful dogs that can run like hell. 28 to 32 inches at the shoulder and 70 to 90 pounds kind of.

    Take your toughest best deerhound/greyhound fox dogs and your best 3/4 bull crosses and go to blending them together and you will probably eventually get dogs that can consistently take a good coyote. You will have to be able to test them though and cull like crazy to get to that point.

    He might be able to partner. You would have to try him out and see for yourself. 1/4 bull types will have a hard time catchin one but they might could if they are the right one I would think. You might would have to go one more step and then use all the 3 of them dogs to do the job. Thats what most guys do anyhow and thats what prevents there being more great coyote dogs though.

    I wanted to add something here that I hope Uphill and some others will somewhat agree with. Some really good coyote type stags will never catch a hare. Some of them dont care to actually and some of them just aint capable. They are fast enough for sure but they cant reach like some hare dogs and they cant cut and turn are re-accelerate fast enough out of the corners. Some of them dont even do that well on fox actually but most make a fox look fairly easy. Some of the real big ones though will not be able to do fox but them kind really aint the ones most of us are lookin for. My yella dog
