  1. I aint seen enough deerhounds in today's world that would do me any good but maybe I aint been around the block enough.
  2. Not from me you wont, I think it was an excellent post to be quite honest.
  3. Me personally I would not care what breed or percentages but would damn sure make sure I bred to a dog that has caught alot of game for somebody in the style that you do. I would not be lookin for a track dog or a "coursing" greyhound at all. Fastest dog that you can find that has caught alot of critters in the style you wish to catch em and you will be good to go.
  4. Taffy, you said you have started pups single handed correct? I like that. I'm actually thinkin about doin it with a coyote dog here in the next couple years. I will have to wait a bit longer I think in order to do it properly and the only reason I say that is cause, it takes a different type of dog cause we wont be doin it off the lamp, the "slips" will be much longer, and a coyote is not a fox. I hope that makes sense to you.
  5. She is stunning partner. I love her build. Slap 7 or 8 inches on her and I'd use her on coyotes. Really nice lookin dog for sure.
  6. You better stop tellin the truth. You are gonna ruin some o these boys self images. HAHA!
  7. WHEW! Its a good thing you said that cause now I wont feel so bad next time one of yall curse me out for doublin up my two bitches on a coyote. Yall were givin me a complex. Nice post dogfacekilla!
  8. I aint into arguin but if yall dont think labs have endurance then yall are lookin at the wrong labs. Go on one o them big ole geese killin missions with some o these boys around here and I promise you, you will shit when you see what some of these labs can do. Work 7 to 10 days straight retrieving literally 100s of 10 to 15 pound geese up and down huge hills(damn near mountains) through icy water and never ever quit. I have seen it I know. I had a pup out of one of these type of labs and his endurance was absolutely unreal. I was completely shocked. I seen him catch cotton tails in the
  9. Some very good answers here gents. I really appreciate all of them. I aint no rookie at all when it comes to dogs but just wanted a little discussion on this topic. I have a hard time fully understanding all of this conditioning stuff cause I just wanna "GO GO GO" and I dont think it always works all that well. My biggest problem is that I try and treat these dogs like I would a coon dog or a coyote dog and it just aint possible. Try and put that never quit mentality into a dog that was made to sprint and it just dont work all that well. Thanks again gentlemen, I really appreciate and by
  10. Sorry lad. what I am asking is what is the best all round pure bred dog in your opinion. if a pure grey and a pure whippet is not an option. that help? Well in that case, the best "all rounder" in my mind would be a Saluki or a Deerhound, but neither would make a good allrounder. Cheers. Can a greyhound though in your opinion?
  11. just coyotes for the most part, there are pics on here maybe
  12. How do you know when you are conditioning your dog too much and huntin them too much? How do yall like your dogs too look as far as muscling and conditioning go?
  13. Run them on any ground where a coyote will travel and in any weather just about. If I chose to not run on frozen plowed fields I wouldnt be doin any runnin at all cause thats about all we got to run on sometimes. They may go from stalk field to bean stubble to plow across or down gravel road or rail road beds. Pretty much wherever the coyote goes, the dogs gotta go if they want to catch em.
  14. Kye, you are the twat my friend. LOL! Too hard.......too often? Never enough partner. HAHA!
  15. just lookin at gallery

  16. if you think its bad on here mate you should come to my local terrier an lurcher show an here them in the beer tent its blood boiling! i know its only words but i am not a pretender if he was no good i wouldve moved him on as i have done in the past with other lurchers if you buy a ticket over here an il take you out an if your not impressed il pay for the ticket lol i think over here it matters what x you choose theres only one for me tried wheaton but wasnt a patch on a good bullx!do you keep lurchers dan? I got staghounds, thats basically like a lurcher sorta. We do alright with em.
  17. I got a big blue stag gyp that I'd take a chance with but we dont exactly live next door to one another. If you are anything like me, you gotta breed em young cause they gonna die young and you wont never get em bred. I aint had a dog live at my place over 4 years old in I cant tell you how long. Its a rough game when you are out chasin shit.
  18. you sure that was a wild boar and not a challenger tank that dog ran into did the dog live thats some list of punishment for a dog to be still holding something Go hog huntin half a dozen times and you will see just this. Its a rough deal, I know.
  19. Dont listen to the rubbish that saluki hybreds are no good for lamping because nothing could be further from the truth I know nothin about this but I have a buddy that I really trust and he says the same thing you just said. Said they are handy as could be.
  20. I hear ya. To hear some of these boys over here on this side of the pond talk, you'd think we had dogs ascended straight from heaven. I can assure you that this is not the case but yall are more than welcome to believe their shit if you want to but take it from me, they full of it. HAHA!
  21. I've yet to see a 100% dog or gyp. I guess I need to get over yall's way so I can see one of these dogs that aint never failed. Maybe my definition of failure is different than yalls.
  22. turnout, Thats a sharp lookin dog partner.
  23. little lurcher, That is a hoss of a dog.
