This is the start of the quick net system I made. It’s one of the best things I made. It did take a little trial and error but at the end of the day it works a treat. If you look up on long netting on this forum you will some great home made ideas and the people on it are really helpful. Give it a crack and once you start using it you won’t go back. It really tops of your hunting kit.

You have joined a good site their atr plenty of good people on it that are more than happy to helps you out and guide you in the right direction with any questions you may have well done taking the Littel feller it seems you both had a great day together

Good watching once again, you got to love the twigs caught up in the net. Louie the dog seemed to have picked up the idea well , the border collies seem to pick thing up really quickly without much training..

Amazing how times have changed I remember when I was a kid my dad use to feed them warm milk with bread , which was probably the worse thing you could feed them. And I have always been a bit unsure about feeding them road kill as you don’t know if the animal was healthy or sick. I do know of one fella that does pick up the occasional road kill and puts it in his cages compete with guts and all unsure if that’s a good thing or not.

I have been doing the odd paying job , and so far most of the people have been understanding that no matter how many rabbits you catch they will always have a problem with them and do understand that some of their problems are also from the properties next door we’re some people like their rabbits and are the main course of their problem. The other one is that a lot of people are against using poisons to control their rabbit problem, the council did go around to quite a few properties that I do for fun and they all refused to go that option of the poison and rather stick with the ferreting luc

It looks like a good starting point, I myself have only started using long nets the last 2 seasons and I have found them to be great. Unfortunately in Australia l haven’t meet any one else who has them or uses them. On top of that I also made up my own quick set nets and baskets to set them as their is nothing available here they worked out very well , wouldn’t have been able to do it if it wasn’t for the help from the other members from this site got a lot of great advice and help. I will post up some photos later on today their was a bite of trial and error but at the and of the day it all c

Hop on to the internet and do some research. I give mine raw pet mince , dead rabbit around 1/4 per ferret , venison , and from Time to time around once a week high protein kitten food just make sure it’s meat base not vegetable base. And no milk.

Depends how you cook it.

Another great video well done. I have encountered a few snakes over the years but so far never had any problems with them. But like you if I can’t see my feet I don’t go their. But the one thing I do is have two pairs is socks on and long pants it may sound strange but an old timer tought me that.

How old do the ferrets have to be before you start
Guss33 replied to _Lewis_'s topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I usually start mine of at around 6 months old with an old ferret or with their mother they generally pick it up pretty well by the end of the season. Another one I also do is give them a small feed just to take the hunger out of them around an hours or to befor I go. I have found by doing that they don’t seem to hold you up as often if at all. These are some of the things we need to do down here in oz as our ground is extremely hard and would have no hope of digging them out. To get an idea on our ground here in oz check out some of sirbless video's he has put up. Good luck with them. -
Is there many people out their that get paid for catching rabbits with ferrets as a part time job or even full time. The reason I ask is my phone number in the last 6 months or so has been given out to people who have rabbit problems and are against using poisons and you are unable to shoot on their property as they are small 5 to 10 acres . They have asked on what kind of money they are up for , I am not out to make a million dollars but it would be good to pull in some $$ . And at the moment due to the lockdowns we are having no one has been able to go ferreting down here in Australia and th

Good to see good numbers or any numbers at the moment, I am still in the pandemic lockdown missed out last season didn’t get out much and nothing at all this season yet. Well doe and good looking dog you have there.

I don’t think I would microchip a ferret I know it can be done as we have a ferret rescue in Australia, but I think they are mainly for pet ferrets , the strange people who keep them in the house. The second reason I wouldn’t do it is the price of it for me to get it done would cost more than what a ferret would cost. And if you end up with a ferret going missing or getting out the possibility of getting it back I think would be very low, as a cat or dog would probably get it, and if someone was to find it and bites them at least you would be able to get out of it if they were to take legal ac

What is the cost of the unit if you don’t mind me asking.

This is the way I go about it with a flyer go for a drive talk to farmers when you see them out in in the paddock doing something I found knocking on doors don’t get you far. But once you get onto one it some how just rolls on to others by word of mouth.

Another great video seen some big Warren’s over time but nothing like that. I have often wonder how much ground a ferret covers when working. As strange as it sounds it would be great if you could put a fit bit on them they would have to do a couple of kilometres. Great to see you got all your ferrets back.

First and possibly last post again.

You would be amazed I have the same problem with one of my little jills as I can only put her into certain pens as she gets out of one is them. If I didn’t place a pice of wire through the cage door she puts her paw through the mesh of the cage and plays with the locks and lets her self out. Lucky to have not to have lost her. They are an extremely smart animals

That was awesome I wonder if the rabbit survived.

I am in lockdown but does anyone know of a legal way around it as someone suggested pest control for rabbits. Would I need any license or just register a name and of I go.

Loved it another great video and great to see you explained on how hard our ground is to the people on the other side of the world.
