  1. Dutch is a very nice guy and lives in NEW Mexico (it's a state in the USA between Texas & Arizona, amongst it's wonderful claims to fame, I was born there).
  2. Kye where did you get a 31# 17" dog? i'd like to find something that size or a bit bigger for denning/bolting coyote and maybe on other stuff like bear & boar.
  3. roosevelt knifed mt lions & bear caught by dogs. confederate general wade hampton was quite fond of knifing bear w/dogs. there are a few that have done bear nowadays, just have a look at some of the plott kennel websites.
  4. were you talking about deer, beccause they lost dogging deer decades ago. everything else is still fair game. hell, they don't even have a closed season on bobs or mt lion. not too many states like that anymore. the biggest problem in TX is getting permission w/o paying a crap load of money.
  5. it amazes me that your lads can go to some craphole country and shed blood & sweat to free other oppressed people and then come home & NOT just off these friggin tyrants.
  6. Kye plenty of dogs out there like that though because of WHERE they run. i mean if you got a couple of dogs that can pull up a coyote inside of 800yds but won't kill them and you got a couple that can catch & kill one out but have to run the yote a mile or so. you run entirely on a half dozen patches of BLM, NF & NG land the smallest parcel of which is an 8X12 mile "rectangle." your opportunity to travel is limited due to finances, NOW, which dogs are you gonna breed from? i don't know about you but i'd breed the two singlehanded coyote killers. sure, i'd try a test cross between the
  7. Stevemac thanks. exactly how tall did it make your hounds? were they faster than a straight foxhound?
  8. a lot of our dogs don't have the blistering fast run up they do over there because they don't need it. when you're running in the middle of hundreds of square miles of BLM, national grasslands or national forest, it's not that important if a dog takes an extra 200-400 yds to catch up to a yote or even a jack as long as it catches up & finishes it.
  9. JMO & worth what you paid for it but i don't think you NEED the stags, just get rid of some of your dead weight. besides your paddocks may not be big enough for them to stretch out.
  10. SGS nice little dog there. keep up the good work. Waidmann bull & mastiff breeds are used when the hunter is taking the animal w/o a projectile weapon. argentine leoneros use the dogo so they can knife the mt lion or catch & tie it. good dogos just sort of know to grab the throat and lay down at an angle to the cat to protect his belly from the hind claws. Judge the little dog has a better chance of being killed by a wolf or coyote than either cat. cats have been dogged here for 200 years and know to run. there are hunters here that use ONLY little dogs like jagdterriers, be
  11. how much bigger? how much bottom? what kind of nose? how much voice?
  12. do they still exist? what are they like? size, build, speed, endurance handle etc.
  13. not saying he's a fox dogbut here are some pics you might have seen here before
  14. taxi driver the boxers they used were better on average than the ones today.
  15. i am curious as well. while not widespread there are still some working boxers & usually not bred that way on purpose. about 10 years ago there was a guy on Baydog Online's old forum from the USA that used them for catchdogs on boar. there are also a handful of people in the USA & Canada training & breeding them for Personal Protection Sport. don't discount the use of a heavier bullXgrey, i know D Hise bred ABXgrey and uses the dogs to go into tight spots when the yote holes, up like in a culvert and draw them. i have also heard Ozzie doggers talk about using 3/4X w/ boxer blood a
  16. what is a good wheaten used for? I assume it's too big for going to ground on fox. what is the going price on a working bred wheaten?
  17. how big do they get & what would you use them for? what kind of bull staffy, american, or amstaff?
  18. an airedale this size would be unusual here. 40-50 is common enough but 50- is the most common size. tell me more about the wheatons, please?
  19. what comes in that size range besides pits, staffs & small bulls?
