  1. not the deerXgrey that we use in the USA & Oz but the real staghound. i'm told it's like a foxhound only bigger.
  2. nothing a few hangings can't fix.
  3. the title was intentionally misleading so that people would look. Hannahpig, feel free to add me to the PM list.
  4. for milder chilis try getting anaheims or poblanos. new mexico chilis are hit or miss on the heat but they have a great flavor. cream cheese and sour cream are good for killing the heat as well.
  5. google up homesteading today and go to the sheep forum. also google breeds of livestock and click on the site from oklahoma state university. if thats you in your pic Kye deserve a F*#!ing medal for snagging you.
  6. here's mine to start pics almost a year old and their sisters for good measure
  7. hybrid actually means crossing between two different species, therefore all the crossbred dogs are not really hybrids and hybrid vigor in dogs is really a false term. but it's still convenient terminology since nothing else really fits. true hybrid vigor is what occurs when you cross a horse and a donkey and get a really good mule that has the best qualities of both and none of the health issues of either.
  8. hey if you had some dogs from an irishman that had been imported from the USA and were already freeze branded and you had a fella here that would testify to that effect, how could you be charged?
  9. i'm Pops, i'm a dog hunting addict and i don't want to get sober. i've been hunting w/ dogs off & on since i was 8 and my uncle took me on a hog hunt. despite numerous beatings, i used to take my mom's toy poodle out hunting squirrel w/ a BB gun. been running some kind of dog ever since i'm 38 in the US Marine Corps. i'm down to one salXgrey. my favorite hunting partners are my daughters (9 & 7). I wisely seduced & married an innocent young girl over 10 years ago (an incredibly good shot too BTW). we also have twin boys (2 1/2). have 6 or 8 guns (not sure have to count again wh
  10. they shouldn't lose heat in drying. if mutliple varieties are grown near each other (at the farm where they were grown to produce the seed) you often get hotter peppers polinating milder ones. then when you buy seed for a mild pepper it turns out nice and warm. ETA: what kind of pepers were they?
  11. i can't believe ya'll haven't started offing the wankers. it's well past due.
  12. well done! lurchergrrl i'm sure we'd all love to see your twins. seriously, we have 2YO boys & i'm sure my poor wife will be completely insane by the time i get home.
  13. brown in olive oil or bacon grease then put in a pot or deep baking dish w/garlic, oregano, basil, cilantro, olives, tomatoes and dried chili peppers (like the kind they sell on strings not the little hot things) that have been soaked & blenderized (if you have to you can substitute canned enchilada sauce). let it stew or bake until the meat pulls easily from the bone. take off the heat. remove meat w/slotted spoon and pull from bone (or not if your okay w/ it, my wife isn't). taste the sauce if it's too spicy soften w/ sour cream or cream cheese. sauce goes on meat. serve w/ rice, black b

    cage fightin

safer there than in an alley like we used to do as kids. go for it. FTR my boys are only 2 and the fight like pitdogs.
  15. it doesn't take much cat to look huge. i was napping one morning out "deer hunting" when i woke to the sound of trotting through the leaves behind me. i waited as it was heading past me. as it hit my peripheral vision i saw what looked to be the biggest bobcat in the southeastern USA. he looked big as a foxhound but probably only weighed about 30#. as i sat up to take the shot he heard me and hit high gear. he bounced over a fallen tree before i could even get the gun to my shoulder. a bobcat this size can and often does take deer 50-70kg. so an aggressive small cat of similar size could easi
  16. where's the blood from the kill? when an animal is consumed including the innards, opening the paunch releases a fair amount of blood. the carcass looks a lot older than overnight as well. just from the pic i'd say the carcass was dragged or placed there. the kill site should show signs of a struggle and the blood released. also a single big cat couldn't eat all that in one go not even a lion or tiger. they'd only eat about 5-10 kg and cover the rest for later, a single dog could be as much if it were a large one. w/ a completely stripped carcass like that genuinely done over night, i'd be loo
  17. i'm not weighing in for or against, just want to point out a few facts that directly affect the discussion. there is no such thing as a black puma. melanistic pumas are a dark red brown similar to the color of a chocolate lab. a puma the size of a lab (70-90#) would only be about 50-75# which would be an adolescent regardless of subspecies (the South American ones common in the exotic pet trade top out at 150# for an old tom while very old North Americans can reach 200#). the actual range for females tend to be closer to 50-100 sq mi and males upwards of 500sq mi. ranges tend to overlap even
  18. might make a fair pig dog if given the chance.
  19. depends, coyotes in the SW USA are small 20-35# full adults and tend not to pack up so here probably could pull it off. eastern USA coyotes run 30-50# normally and can be as big as 70#, at that size they are going to chow down just like they will on any fox they catch. that being said i've sen pics of eastern coyotes getting stretched by a trio of jagdterriers in the 20-25# range.
  20. yeah, be sure and announce the breeding so's we can form a line.
  21. as a matter of fact the dog that got gutted, got sewed up and although he could barely move got up and wanted to go the next day when the other dogs was loaded. craziest of all he was a pound puppy w/ who knows what breeding behind him. Dan who says they died in 30 seconds. it was actually about 10 min from the time the hog took off dragging them until we were able to wear it down to catch it w/ the cur dogs (hanging all over the place) and the last bulldog right on the end of the nose. i know the oldstyle dogmen disagree, but i've seen a few matches and i still say those dogs were game.
