I saw a puma in Lincolnshire in 97, definately not a deer, chow chow, domestic cat, fox, badger or trick of the light. This was in daylight and my body was free from alcohol (I think) and drugs. Used to take a lot of interest in sightings, there have been several captures and cats killed in Britain, a jungle cat in Hampshire, a puma near Inverness, a Lynx shot in Suffolk in 91 and many more. Think most people who do see something keep quiet cos of p*ss takers, I know :11: :11:

    few pics

    Top quality as usual
  5. No worries mate, no matter how many dogs you train you always learn something new and still make mistakes
  6. Nice pics, looks like you had a good day, be honest though, you were going for the black and white photos to look arty :11: :11:
  7. Did anyone watch the programme tonight? Showed a pair of owls that have been successfully rearing chicks in North Yorkshire for the past 8-10 years!! They were keeping the local rabbit population in check, Eagle owls were also adding buzzards to the diet  Never knew we had them in this country, seen Golden Eagles and Ospreys in Scotland and they were amazing but to think of Eagle Owls a couple of counties away is amazing
  8. I'm jealous, they are cracking looking pups. Good luck with them Simoman
  9. At 15 weeks don't expect miracles, training may be going as planned in the home/garden but when you are out in the field their are more distractions. The dogs steadiness will come with maturity along with his concentration level, most pups have a very low attention span. Sometimes training the dog in an environment full of distractions when it is not ready is teaching the dog to ignore commands. Just keep doing your basic traning and slowly add distractions. Not sure if you were serious about the dog missing it's meal, but if you are the dog will have no idea why! Good luck Simoman

Definately the Canon IXUS 40, brilliant for action shots, low level lighting etc. Try PIXmania.com
  11. I think you are being to generous, there would still be a lot of space. The antis must love this moron, he's doing a great job of promoting working dog owners

    why??

Thing is I think many of us have been in this situation with strange dogs and it can be slightly annoying :realmad: , down the river the other night when I see a guy in the distance with a terrier and three other dogs so I put mine on leads, the old bitch and young dog are fine and the older male ignores them if left alone. Anyway to cut a long story short this tosser's dog runs 4 hundred yards and starts grumbling and snapping at my dogs arses. Had a few "words" at distance about controlling his dog and eventually it returned. The guy had no leads with him and had to hold four growling dog
  15. Know a few people who have used him, all seemed happy with his work, think he visits the Nottingham area every other week.
  16. Hope you get plenty of support mate. May be a stupid question but has anyone from your area contacted local papers for some positive publicity for the club, seeing as the money raised is for a childrens hospice. May be a chance to promote terrier enthusiasts with something positive? Once again good luck, it's a worthwhile cause Regards Simoman
  17. Thanks for the ideas boys, think i'll try a couple of your suggestions. Yeah Rob it's bloody frustrating, the dog knows they are there but can't reach them and I could shoot them but to be honest I get more enjoyment from watching the dog work. What makes it worse is that there are loads of the buggers and the store is being demolished soon so bye bye permission All my rats over the years have been hard won from river banks, dykes etc and a good bag was anything in double figures. This is the first place where there is a chance of big (for me) numbers and it's going soon
  18. Hedgehogs are a pain in the backside. My garden seems to be a hedgehog motorway. Had several killed in my garden, also the entire family woken up a couple of times by the terrier screaming in frustration as one of them curls into a ball just the other side of the run :realmad:
  19. Has anybody got any ideas how to tempt rats into the open. At the moment they are in a grain store which is full of ton sacks of grain, these are impossible to shift and the dogs can't get inbetween them to catch the rats. Shining the lamp at night I can see them in the roof, running between the sacks but there is only one open area and they never seem to cross it. There was some rubbish outside the store and moving this uncovered a dozen or so. Ferrets are a no go as the rats have dug there warrens under the concrete yard. Would fish be any good as a bait? It would have to be something
  20. you better believe it mate....i got something real special lined up... So JD, how long do we have to wait for the new book? Looks like it will have some quality action photos
  21. Well the pumpkin soup was nice although I think i'll be finishing it off all week. We also had roasted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie. Think I may have overdone the pumpkin theme
  22. Don't think they can swim in general, many zoo's, including chester have moats around the enclosure to help keep them in, however there was an Attenborough programme a few years ago and some chimps were shown crossing a river to feed!!!
