Svc & fac renewal in the covid 19 time
KimE replied to Meece's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I thought Swedish gun regulations was bad but now then i look at British rules i think we are lucky. I bought my first hunting rifle and got a licens/permit for it 27 y ago and after that I dont have to do anything unless iam suspected for a crime or a doctor tells the police iam not recomended to own a weapon. My handgun licenses have to be renewed every 5 years. -
I hoarded some bullets for my percussion revolver they should last 1-2 years. My reloads for rifle and revolver are 1/4- 1/3 of retail price and with a much larger selection of bullets. Some of the Swedish sport retailstores are close to bankrupt now so prices and avialability may change quickly. Still i need to fill up my .22lr supply.

A dissaster the biggest Swedish vodka brand Absolut turn their production in to hand gel.
-
Nice work They look a little different than the one we have here more grey and maybe smaller.

Welcome 8*57 is a nice moose and boar caliber, not so common in UK?

A man was recent convicted in Sweden for endangered species crime he was making and collecting "Indian" stuff from predatory birds. We use our ordinary clothes then we shoot blackpowder here some even use a modern shooting jacket then they shoot ml rifle. Today i am going for pistol training "fält"(field competition) with the club its -15c right now but sunny. Everything between .22lr and .45acp can be used by the members.
-
But you can have historical handguns in UK? In my Swedish pistol club we have competitions in blackpowder handguns and rifles. Cartridge, percussion, flintlock and matchlock/Teppo. Some in the club compete with 160y old revolvers I have a Uberti replica. Of cause we have also competitions with modern handguns to.

You can take a beguinners course at my local club.

"Some lynx and wolf would be good too." We have lynx here they are nice animals but they take some roedeers, sheeps and reindeers, (reindeers are counted as domestic here). Its fun to hunt them with a running or standing dog. Wolf are a pain they take most of the game in the areas they live in and we are not allowed to shoot enough of them. A lot of huntingdogs are killed by wolf in Sweden. A normal wolfpack with 2adults and 5 young wolfs kills more than 100 mooses per year smaller game not even counted. Its difficult to get a permit to kill problem individuals even wolfs who

"Beavers are about to be re introduced very close to me. It will be interesting to see a new species. I don't think anyone will be hunting them officially here for a long time though" We had beaver reintroduced in a stream in my home village about 1988-1990 about year 2000 we started to hunt them. In the early 2000-2003 I had found about 8 huds in this stream alone with many more in the nearby river. "I suspect they won't survive long if they spread from their release site though. I can't imagine they are particularly good for arable agriculture!" T

"Tikka, the Sako is just a refined tikka" No they are both made in Rihimäkii the SAKO hometown. SAKO started as the Finnish white guards weapon factory, the white fighted against the red guard in the Finnish civil war. https://www.sako.fi/sako-history

Husqvarna made several models of single shot rifles in lever gun cal. model 25 32-20, 26 25-20, 35 30-30 ,and 45 45-70.
-
Yes but i know only one hunter who has an old Husqvarna in 25-20 its very rare.

Which means UK can have a lead ban then the rest of EU let it go until the next time the greens trys to ban hunting related things.
-
"im sure the EU ban on hunting with lead came in end of last month but we were out so it didn't affect us over here." We got rid of one of the most antihunting countries in EU. In Sweden lead shot are allowed in forest and fields but banned in wetlands. Most shotgun shooting ranges are leadfree, steel works great for clays.

Rabbit and pidgeon can be shot with .22lr, 17hmr and similar. While fox and capercaillie requires 22wmr, 22 hornet or larger. As its an older law some strange things can be seen, as 257weatherby are not allowed for anything bigger than a roe deer, seal need class1 140gr+ bullets, only boar and fallow deer can be shot with slugs, 17hmr are not allowed for fox. As bear and roe deer are allowed in August in the north and roedeer and boar in the southern of Sweden many hunters need a class 1 rifle most of the time. FMJ makes the cartridge only allowed as class 3 even in larger kalibers.

Legal big game cartridges (class 1) start with 6,5*55 power level 156gr bullet 2000j. The most popular cartridges are .308w, 6,5*55, 3006 and 9,3*62. For roe deer, beaver, lynx class 2 are required it starts about 222rem,223rem, 25-20.

The basic rule is put the butt in your elbow and see were your finger goes how much you need to add to get the trigger in the right position. You can add a temporary piece so you can try the lenght before you decide.

They cut a lot of wood, sometime the beavers flood roads then they plug the pipes under them.
-
No we cant use bows, they have made a study and have suggested rules for bowhunting but the new law has not been up in the parlament. The suggestion for a new law has many strange changes as to ban adjustable stocks.

I am thinking of getting a carbine for both beaver hunting and target shooting. A .357 would be great as i am already reloading for .38spl but i would even more like a 32-20 or 38-40 so i can use it for black powder competition. For the beaver hunting a 60-100m trajectory/range are more than enough. In Sweden its not allowed to hunt with black powder so i will have to use other powders, i like your percussion gun shooting?.

It was shot with my .308w with a sierra varmint bullet. They have very tender meat similar to rabbit but i have felt a slightly smell of aspen. Stavross its possible to come and try it. I already have a beaver hat, its fun to help someone else to discover a new hunting style.

In april-may do we go out to hunt beaver in the evenings at the feeding place and in the morning to the hud. It can be done by sitting and waiting by the water with a beautiful nature, scene, often nice weather, many birds and other animals can be seen, the beavers are often swimming around in the stream before they go up on land to feed. It also possible to try to stalk them then they are cutting some wood the beavers main organ is their nose if they smell you they are gone often with a bang by their tail. To use a canoe are also a very nice way to hunt them. The skin are the main product fro

"Is it correct some use a very light bullet for this? Possibly aluminium?" Never herd of aluminium. My friend P-E used military steel jacket 6,5mm 139gr fmj. In a .22centerfire some use 50gr fmj bullets, in 6,5mm most use 107-140gr, for .30 its 123-155gr most people use. "Dosnt look like its shot with a 308 to me" FMJ makes small holes.

"That looks amazing, I’m always interested to see how people hunt in other countries, we don’t shoot birds with rifles often in England, if we do we use small calibres, we use .308 for deer, sometimes on fox, what else do you hunt? " My Tikka .308w are my general purpose rifle i have hunted moose for many years but i have a break now, i have also hunted wildboar, fallow deer and roe deer with it in southern Sweden. In the spring i hunt beaver with it. Yes i have used the .308 for fox to. Now in march i am going to hunt mountain grouse with my .22wmr in skis in alpine terrain.
