You’re in the minority mate most dog men can’t speak about their dogs without telling lies, I’ve had first hand experience of myself & mates getting pups off strangers in the past and it always comes out later that the parents aren’t what they were made out to be. They might not necessarily be a load of shit but they won’t be what the breeder made out when he was trying to get your money off you that’s a guarantee.
-
At least at the rescue centre you don’t have to listen to lies about the parents because that’s what you’ll get from 9 out of 10 men advertising pups
-
f**k buying in off strangers these days tbh, I’d honestly rather go to a rescue centre and take a punt on a young lurcher than buy a pup off 99% of dog men. Saw a young bitch for sale yesterday for £1500 and the mother’s a known jacker. A well known coursing man bred 2 litters out of a known jacker, sold them for £500 then sold the bitch on ffs it’s a minefield. Dogs up for stud for a grand that’s never done a full season the list goes on
-
To be honest when I was coursing I didn’t care if the hare was caught in a dyke, a hedge, a wood or out in the open, maybe that differs from a lot of people but I was just happy to see my dog with a catch
-
Just my experience with the coursing game like but that sort of thing all comes back to money, all the groupies & PR crew talking dogs up because they’re either going to be up for stud, or having a litter in the near future. Pet hate of mine to be honest men talking other lads dogs up for them, if I see a good dog I’ll always give credit where it’s due and tell the owner well done, but I wouldn’t embarrass myself coming on sites like this & being so far up another mans arse you could barely see my shoes.
-
I’d take the x - ray & a written report from your vet back to the emergency vet & get a full refund, not because it’s about the money, just because they don’t deserve a penny after missing a broken leg. I’d make it well known in your local area for people to stay clear of them as well, not everyone would’ve got the 2nd opinion, could’ve finished the dogs career before it started if you didn’t, but at that age I wouldn’t be too worried it’ll fuse up fine with right treatment
-
Law of averages there’ll be shite in every litter no matter how good parents are, I remember hearing about Lucas x crow, 3 full litters of top hare killers, then saw one getting dragged about in November, but anyone that says that gets jumped on by the groupies, same with all the big name money makers.
-
Easier just being honest about how much your dogs actually done but barely anyone is
-
Nothing like staged pictures of dogs up on the hills to get the imagination going ?
-
9 times a week, part timer
-
I’d say probably the latter, if I had an interest in bigger stuff, and my dog could only catch rabbits then it wouldn’t be staying. I’d assume most people would be the same but then again you never know
-
A dog that can catch all quarry on a regular basis isn’t a common thing tbh well not in my experience anyway
-
A rabbit dog is surely a good rabbit catcher in all situations not just a ferreting dog, and surely if a sharp little dog it could worry a field hare or 2, if it’s any good. I wouldn’t expect a little 21 inch dog to tackle bigger stuff on a regular basis but then again who in their right mind would
-
Far from it but I know enough to know what you’re saying isn’t true. There’s a common theme to your posts that you have superior knowledge to everyone else & your dogs work harder than everyone else’s. It’s all me me me, you’re like whin with a dictionary.
-
I don’t know, id assume you’re a rabbit catcher or similar, but it doesn’t make any difference to what I think of your statement, they’re dogs not robots, they need rest, as do humans as well, 7 days a week hard at it with no rest will take its toll, it’s not sustainable over a long period of time, either you’re talking shit or your dogs aren’t working as hard as you think they are.
-
Proper graft 7 days a week, right through the season, you're some man, I’ve seen you talk some shit on here in the past but that tops it off
-
Got a few words to describe her, mad isn’t one of the first that springs to mind
-
A running dog won’t work every day, every dog needs rest days, same with the owner as well there’s nobody that works their dog every single day through the season, people have days off when they do other things or just rest up. I suppose If someone classes chasing a few rabbits on their morning walk as working then that’s applicable but a dog won’t seriously graft every day it would be f****d before too long.
-
What he means is, when a man posts a picture of a big hard looking bull cross for example, then someone asks if it’s any good, or does he rate it? The owner then replies “it does what it’s bred for” This can be misleading, as we all know the dogs bred for teeth, but in reality it gets one small night on the rabbits a fortnight. The owners cryptic reply gives the impression the dog is doing far more than it really is. This is a common thing on these sites, like pictures of dogs on mountain tops, or in big forestry plantations, accompanied by a comment like “he did his job” or “we had

It’s a way for lads to make you think their dog puts loads of gear away without actually saying it, so when you realise the dog does next to nothing they can’t be called out for lying
-
I’d assume if an ad said that, it’s because they're inferring the parents are good rabbit dogs so they pups should be in theory, but everyone knows 2 toppers can produce shit and vice versa so it’s a stupid statement for any litter whatever their job is. They’re pups nothing more nothing less nobody knows what they’ll turn out to be, and a lot depends on who gets them
-
I know people that have done it for years never paid a penny in tax, crossbreeds can’t be registered with any kennel club so no way of proving how many pups were born/sold
-
f***ing right wouldn’t change a thing ?
-
To be fair mate I think pups should be gifted but I’d never take a pup for free, my pals giving me a pup in a few weeks but I chucked him £100 when they were born to help with food costs etc, and I’ll pay for a few good dinners this season as well when we’re out, everyone that’s gifted a pup should do that, so it shouldn’t cost the breeder anything.

Organisations like that Fieldsports Britain, BASC & the Countryside Alliance can f**k right off with the stick together stuff. They didn’t stick together for us, they took the attitude of “let them get the dog lads, were fine it won’t happen to us”. Now the shoes on the other foot and they’re not happy. What goes around comes around.
