  1. Phoned sportsman yesterday morning and they had .22’s in stock in 500mm,600mm and 700mm. Looked on website last night and the 600 & 700 are now out of stock. I know where there is one near me, think it’s 600mm and it’s got the power plenum, but it’s a display model and like si says, probably best to order a fresh one. I’m going to phone them again to find out when more .22 fac models will be due in. I don’t want the “compact” 500mm model.
  2. How much did the power/fps go up by si? Did you notice much difference in weight and handling?
  3. That’s food for thought fellas, thanks. I’m not sure if I’m going down the slugs route, as I have rimfires anyway. I will definitely try them though. It’s weighing up length against handling as you know. I will be shooting from a vehicle quite a bit. I do realise that the longer barrel will be more efficient though. so the question is, will I regret the extra four inches, or will it turn out to be an asset??. ?
  4. Sportsman gun centre have them in stock. Standard impacts are 600mm barrels and all fac models now have power plenum. Longer or shorter barrels can be ordered, they have these models in stock also. Spoke to them on the phone this morning. Is 600mm a good compromise length for .22 fac? Others available are 500mm and 700mm. I was told that they come with 600mm barrels unless a different length is specified.
  5. Have a great day. I look forward to your report?
  6. What a brilliant day, you could say I’m slightly envious. My favourite sport???
  7. Agreed? and I will also continue to burn diesel and ride my two strokes in the powerband.?
  8. I can’t see it being banned across the board for all calibres/bores for all uses within five years. I think there will have to be certain concessions, probably for small bores used for vermin only, and old or antique guns maybe? Just my opinion ?
  9. Yeah, just about to finish my supper and some bloke turned up with a rifle, had to scarper? no bleddy gravy on it again ? did me a favour as it turned out, just got home and it started raining ?
  10. Good result SD, liking the new hairstyle ?? ?
  11. Im going to have another look at it, hopefully next week ?. Handle it side by side with a 12ft lb crown that they have in stock. I’m leaning more towards the new impact though I think. Thanks for your input, decisions decisions ?. I even woke up with it on my mind?....oh dear.
  12. Thanks for that Phil? A shop near me has one of the latest ones with the power plenum in .22 fac so it could be the one??
  13. Great pictures Tom, is it a Gamo that your lad is shooting?
  14. Have you experienced any problems with the impact Phil?
  15. Who are they protected by Phil? I know they’re off the GL in Wales now.
  16. I run them all year, but quite often do gooders release my call birds and sometimes trash the traps. I’ve got two crows and five magpies at the moment, it’s at this time of year I try to catch or shoot as many of these corvids as possible ?
  17. That’s what made me think about it, the adjustment range, particularly on the new model with the power plenum. Also, do you notice a difference in shot count/power output ratio with the power plenum? I much prefer the look of the crown and I thought it was a done deal, but I’m not so sure now. Also I’m considering reliability, as I’ve read that there’s more to go wrong with the impact? How do they compare for handling with a scope fitted, Ive only handled them in shops with no scope fitted?
  18. Sorry about this again but I’ve been doing a bit of research on these two. The new Mk2 Impact with power plenum looks like a good tool, but how does it compare to the Crown? I’m considering the Crown continuum that comes with two barrels, 380mm and 700mm. These would be in .22 calibre and I’m looking for advice on these please. Thanks in advance.
  19. This is all very well, but 33-40 grains @ over 70 ft lbs? Surely this is just chasing .22 subsonic rimfire, which is fine if you don’t have a .22 rimfire, but at what relative cost? I’m in the market for fac air, but at this output it’s getting a bit lost on me. Interesting concept though, but as for practicality l’m not so sure?
  20. Good write up Ian and a good result. Please let us know how you get on with the squirrels when you get around to it?
  21. Free is my favourite price. You should have a good time testing those vm. Hopefully they will work as well for you as the .22 version. It’ll be interesting to find out how you get on with them? Good stuff vm ?
  22. Looks interesting vm, how much are they £ ? the .22’s I saw were about £17 for 200 and I can get decent.22 rimfire ammo for that sort of money?
