    Just keep him seeing the dogs through the bars, he will get used to them over time. If he got attacked by a dog while he was roaming he will take a while. If you get to a point where he is used to the dogs but not super confident wait till he is in one of his sleeps, you know the type where you think hes dead, you know how ferrets do that. Pick him up and put him on top of your dog who you know is super steady with ferrets. Preferably while the dog is also properly relaxed. If the ferret wakes up slowly and slowly becomes aware it is on a dog and not being attacked it will help a lot.

    I never go out before 11. Most of the preying eyes and jobsworths have gone to bed by then. You want it nice and windy and pref no moon. Stick to the edges, walk INTO the wind, shine out into the field, see them eyes and try to get closer and when you slip try to be between the rabbit and where its going to run to.

    Everyone seems to missing the most important point. Hare coursing is illegal. It shouldnt be and we all hate tony bLiar the c**t for doing it but it IS banned.     I remember once i had a knife confiscated from me years ago and after the police had finished their investigations they sent a cop to return it to me. And as he walked past the van he saw my lamp through the window and said "thats illegal"! I said "no it isnt, i only hunt on permission, i dont poach" (if they only knew lol) and he replied "yeah but it isnt fair is it, blinding them and killing them like that".     Could it be distemper? I lost a bunch of ferrets years ago when a fox killed a bunch of my dads racing pigeons and i fed them to the ferrets. Turns out the fox had distemper and some of its saliva wason the birds.
