Big shoots = Big money, if your willing to pay £500-£1000 for a days shooting & stand on a peg shooting bird after bird where is the sport or skill in that, you also find on some of the big shoots the attitude is still THEM & US which i do not agree with. I personally like the smaller shoots, everybody talks to each other & has a bit of banter, its not all about the bag numbers at the end of the day, its about that one memorable shot, that one high bird & the good company you have been with all day. -
What do i do ? buy houses then sell them,buy land & sell it, farm a little, run my own shoot. Would i change it ? not for anything. People would only generally like to change what they do for better money, but that doesn't always make you happy, & when you have money a lot of people resent you for what you have. As long as you have a roof over your head & food on the table life is good

I usually find that early mornings are better than night for rabbit, they don't just have humans as predators & like all quarry they want to live as much as we want to shoot them. once i have shot a field i will leave it for at least a week to settle again. good luck & happy hunting

Dress smart, ask questions, about the job & the grounds where you will be working, how many other people work there, make it clear you are a good team worker & can also be left to your own initiative. R.S.P.C.A they make me laugh i have had many a phone call about foxes which i have shot with stitches in them, they always say they never release foxes feckin joke, so what i do now is phone the rspca animal cruelty hotline 0300 1234 999 & tell them every week that the rspca are being cruel releasing town foxes into the country just to be shot, i have also sent them pictures of three lambs which i lost to fox last year & then a week later i sent pictures to them of 6 shot fox which they lost one of which had stitches, i have never had any reply these are all the contacts you n
