  1. Never attach foliage to yourself for the simple fact, trees don't walk around. This is a pic of one of my lads in what we call a 'Yowie' suit, Yowie being Australian for bigfoot. It is too big for him obviously. This suit is know in a private collectors museum.
  2. Yes mate, young Jasper certainly handled that shottie better than you. I have to say Stab's 2 lurchers would have to have one of the best temperaments I have seen in a dog, they are just no trouble, you hardly even know they are there. We had a few good courses and Jasper was very interested in what was going on, when Stab's fired the .222 the youngun was looking straight away, will be good around firearms in the future.
  3. Byron those pics are the shit mate, the one coming out of the water is brilliant.

    BLOWPIPES

Interesting thread, when I was on the island of Borneo we experienced a fair amount of their use from the Iban tribesman, lovely people and deadly on monkeys with the blowpipe, the blowpipe is a part of their national symbol, like Australia has the boomerang. They were about 6 ft in length and made from bamboo and from memory the darts were made from bamboo slithers. The Iban tribesmen were, traditionally headhunters and are awesome bushmen, they used the blowpipe to great effect. By the way, monkey is quiet nice.
  5. First off, your choice of rifle (Mod 2) is a great start, very accurate weapon, I have stretched shots with the .22lr out to at least 120 metres and with the Brno this is quiet possible, love the CCI's but have found Wichester Super X's in HP to be brillaint. Don't feel undergunned at these ranges, just be confident in your ability and all will fall into place. Cheers
  6. Yeah 10/22 is the dogs bollocks, we are not allowed semi's anymore over here, but you will not go past the Ruger. Had a Marlin "Glenfield' and it was great also, very accurate. Sub's will never be real successful in a semi, just not enough gas to reload.
  7. Its sporting agent getting ready for an ascent.
  8. Just having a laugh Snap Shot, for what its worth and I could be wrong, but I think the scope is the nightforce. Different bits of kit poke around though for trialling and in a lot of cases are actually supplied by the soldier themself. I might be old fashioned but I still prefer the Parker-Hale to the new AI jobs, the best sniper platform ever was the USMC M-40, basically a heavy barrelled hunting rifle.
  9. Stiffmeister, you could smash the lens in it and still shoot straighter than Stab's. How's tricks anyway?
  10. F#ck lads, calm down, its only a scope, in my day it was a Parker Hale 7.62 with a 4 x Kahles, the days of real marksmen, please don't tell me I'm wrong about the scope.
  11. Looks like stab's after a night on the sauce.
  12. The Yank heirachy tried to award him a medal, but the Kanook powers that be said they don't really encourage glorifying this type of thing.
  13. Fastrac it is all personnel opinion and what hunting/shooting method you are going to use, if spotlighting from a vehicle the 8 x 56 would be the go, but for everyday hunting go for the 3-9 x if these are your choices, I would mount a 6 X 40 before anything else though. Just incidentally is the 8 x 56 a Nikko Stirling. These are a very fair priced optic, I had a look through one at a gun expo recently and was very surprised, i am even considering mounting one to my wife's .222. Buy the best you can afford is a fair statement, but it is not as critical in scopes as it is with binoculars, the
  14. Yes mate, I would suggest the cheap ammo option and just see how it groups.
  15. Cheers Mr Wright, very keen on the GWP's and that extra speed would no doubt suit your style of hunting, been told about your dogs before actually and it was a great report.
  16. I didn't actually mean gluing the base to the reciever, but using it to fasten the screws in place, yes, it can make them hard to get out, but they will come out but will not work loose, loctite is perfect.
  17. I would have to say Snap Shot has given some very good advice there, the only thing I can add is start at moderate loads and work your way up to maximine. Boat tail bullets are the choice in my opinion with a PSP. 55 grainer is probably perfect for the .22/250, remember the speed it is putting the projectile out at. As for richochet, this is possible with any rifle.
  18. Love that GWP cross, what else in it?
  19. No need for the brick wall response, it was a tongue in cheek comment! Maybe even chewing gum. Bye the way super glue and Loctite do work, if you no what you are doing, they are a great way to keep screws in place, if you don't like it, don't do it. On a serious note, super glue or loctite on the screw heads Snap Shot, you are probably already aware of this. Done it with military rifles in particular which get knocked around fairly well.
  20. Great posts mate, appreciate the time you have taken, any pics?
  21. Had a few dogs chase me...............
  22. Fasinating, but I may have missed something, how thick are the worms, wouldn't the break when lifting the eel out of the water or does the eel have his teeth into the string as well? Cheers
  23. Sounds like a bad earth somewhere or he glow plugs themselves are fecked.
