  6. again pat sorry for butting in---- i had the privilege on meeting Mr jimmy fawcett way back in 1987 at the duke of Buccleugh hunt show, i have and probably never will, meet a man with as much knowledge of the running dog, he was astute in his manner of every dog, not just the type he bred and kept, he also always took the time to chat about all topics on the dogs , giving very sound advice when asked for it, yes it was always correct what he told you, so not only have i lost free advice , i have lost a very very dear old friend-------REST IN PEACE YOU WILL BE SADLY MISSED ---------STUART

  10. cheers , i'm not sticking up for the dog as it was as much me to blame as the dog, never had him on the lead, stupid i know , but i accept that, on a previous night in same field he had his first kill, no sheep in it then , so again he's obviously thought there was other things there, so to speak, took off then encountered the sheep , my fault as i said , but it still does'nt allow the dog to grab sheep , then or in the future ------den

  12. cammy , to be fair , dog (was broken)or so i thought , this field never had sheep in it for months , it's a very uneven field( no excuse) an when we were in it the last time , there was bigger quarry there , near to the wood , so dog just took off , (yes my fault ever had him on a lead) obviously remembered where he'd got his first kill, again not an excuse for him , but the wee b*****d should know better, i'll solve it i'm sure , or heaven beckons for him Look im sorry if you took my comments as insults.   19. well just back in from a mooch around a few fields , took old bitch and young dog out , well the took off after a rabbit lol, but the little bast ard grabbed hold of a sheep , to say i was raging is an understatement, if he continues like this theres not another thing i will do , but the inevitable, cant have my dog grabbing sheep or permission will be taken away

  21. Some good points there mate but the facts are spending thousands on the 'chance' of the dog getting back to full fitness is a no no for some folk, and you can see there reasons for that. Be alot cheaper to get another dog and try again. As i say some folk wont do that and will persevre with there dog and give it a chance....i think this is when you can distinguish if people see there dogs as pets or workers.... I'm £28 per month on mine, and I completely understand the whole pets/workers scenario, but IMO that is a thin line, does it become just a worker when you can't afford the maint
