  1. I intend when I meet up with this man that owns this working Bedlington to take a few pictures of the dog, would be nice to take a few of the dog working as well, but I have to ask first as a lot wouldn't like the thought of their dogs being posted online,i also am looking for the pedigree on this dog, hopefully its as he said it has rellington blood lines, as for the greyhound I intend to use,i have a choice of 3,2 track dogs that have injured themselves and the vet told the trainer to put to sleep as they wouldn't race again,i would like a coursing greyhound bitch, and you would know lads I
  2. Fen tiger me arse,i see the wheat is cut in the picture and the cat is not much bigger that the stubble so a garden moggie I say,as for the guy driving and he he got a glimpse of something dash across the road in front of him,i say to him,go easy on the bottle
  3. The starting point to any lurcher is the greyhound, weather it be track or field, the only reason I like a greyhound bitch that has been banned off the track for fighting is which I think adds a little gameness to the greyhound in question,i have seen plenty of greyhounds that had plenty of speed, could pick up rabbits day or night in any situation but when they tried to tackle anything that had teeth it was a different story, whether they were single handed or doubled up. As for the terrier that your going to use for your greyhound to get your lurchers,[and my choice will be the Bedlington t
  4. I wouldn't be bothered if shes not eating too much,if she was starving she would clean her dish, she looks good to me,have you ever tried her on tripe,
  5. A friend of mine bred 3/4 greyhound 1/4 wheaton terriers years ago,the greyhound he used was a bitch that was banned off the track for fighting,it had great bloodlines and would of probably made a champion if it hadn't been for its bad temper, anyway she was very gamey in the field and after her first fox that she took to hunting like a duck to water,he bred a first cross wheaton greyhound with this bitch and everyone of her pups turned out to be very good at their job and were afraid of nothing, the chap that owned the wheaton greyhound put this dog over another greyhound and the pups she prod
  6. Lads,i am looking for some information on the breed of lurcher,[Bedlington x greyhound first cross], I have always fancied breeding this lurcher .can I ask a few questions to any lads on here that have bred or own this breed,1,the first cross, what height do they make,2 are they ideal for the lamp and working with terriers along cover, and are they big enough and bold enough to tackle anything bigger than a hare or rabbit. I was always interested in this breed of lurcher, but like everything I either hadn't the time or the space to breed one ,but now as I have plenty of time and loads
  7. Right no bother,it was the nipples that were showing that caught my eye in the picture,
  8. lovely looking bitch.can I ask,has she had pups a while ago,she looks like she had pups a while ago
  9. A couple of years ago I read in some paper or on the web[not sure where] but it was here in Ireland, some guy had his whole kennels robbed,4 of 5 working terriers,i remember there was a very big reward for the recovery of this chaps terriers or information to who it was that broke into his kennels, like everything it must be the worst thing ever to wake up or return home to find someone has entered your dwelling and robbed your lifes hobby. I reckon it has to be someone that has been to your house previous weather its been a fellow hunter or a friend of these, and seen you have good stock,a

Stormboy that's some good looking terrier you have there,is that a bit of a top lip missing,??
  11. I have had a look at the lost and stolen on here and was wondering if many if any were recovered,??
  12. Well that's a fair price,do you have a picture of the sire and dam.
  13. Just reading articles on dogs been stolen or lost, not many replies on weather they were found or not,it seems to be a big thing across the sea of dogs been robbed and never seen again,it happens over here aswell, some you hear about some you don't,where I live we have great big fields that hold a quiet few hares, they are well exercised from the local lads with their curs, the travellers used to pay it a visit a few years ago but not only did they visit the land for a good course for their dogs they visited the farmhouses late at night and robbed anything they could get their hands on,so the comm
  14. I bred 9 mules this year,5 linnet mules and 4 goldie mules, they are just starting the moult now,out of the 9,7 of them are cocks
  15. lads I will stick a picture of her up when I take one .as the greyhound and whippet are the speed in her breeding and the saluki is for the stamina,i still class her as a 3/4 bred
  16. I agree with most of your replies lads,at the moment I own a whippet greyhound x greyhound saluki,i class her as a 3/4 bred hound with a 1/4 saluki in her,she is two years old,a demon on the lamp and can give a good strong winter hare a run for its money, she has a great success rate which I love in a lurcher as she is a pot filler, thats all she is kept for mooching with terriers lamping for rabbits or the occasional hare, she has never seen a for and hopefully she never will,....so lads what would you class her as or how would you describe whats in her makeup.
  17. A friend of mine is in a breeding program with his wheaton greyhound cross,he started with a working wheaton put across a big coursing greyhound,he kept two bitches from this litter and two years later he bred the best of the two and he put a greyhound cross her,he kept one bitch and one dog from this litter and when they bitch was over 2 years old he bred her with her father,he told me he will keep a full record of his breeding and every couple of years he will breed the best of his bitches with his stud dog which is a 3/4 bred wheaton greyhound,so the way it looks now is father to daughter,t
  18. I didn't mean every bull x Blackmag, but I meant to say I have seen a few straight crosses bull x greyhound that would take any game and if things were a big quiet in the field they would be rearing to fight weather it be a terrier of lurcher,i thing it all depends as you say on the upbringing of the pup and the breed of bull you use
  19. Lads.years ago in my day the starting point of lurcher breeding was the Greyhound [for speed] and the Collie[ for brain stamina and better coat and good feet],the first cross were great ferreting companion and bushing with terriers and not bad on the lamp either, but the just lacked that burst of speed when they needed it,there was a few that had everything you needed in a lurcher but these were rare, the next cross was the greyhound x greyhound collie,a nice powerhouse of a lurcher ,loads of speed, you lost in stamina a bit but these racey type lurchers could do their job and do it well, and they
  20. Hi all. well where do I start, here goes so I hope I don't bore you, nearly 45 years ago as a young lad growing up in the city and very little hobbies on offer for someone closing in on their teenage years,i knew a greyhound man that I walked his greyhounds and he brought me to the races and if his dogs won he would reward me with a extra few shillings for getting his dogs fit to win, through him I met a friend of his that kept ferrets and little did I ever think this would be the start of me getting into the hunting with dogs and ferrets, this chap was about 6 years older than me bu
  21. The bitch is roughly 2 1/2 years old,i wouldn't travel over seas for a service for her but thanks for the offer, hopefully I can get something small and gamey over here.

    Plummers

Years ago lads I read about them in hunting mags, the Plummer terrier, bred by Brian plummer he was a lurcher and terrier man that got his claim to fame by living in the outback of the country in the UK and rearing a collie x greyhound [collie being the dam of the pup and greyhound being the sire],merle I think it was called, slow to start but a demon when he got started so I read, the plummer terrier I seen were good ratting terriers and bushing terriers, never seen one that would stay under ground for very long, but every dog is different, dont see many at the game fairs these days.
  23. , lads the bitch is very small, she is gamey but no match for Charlie, putting a patterdale to her would improve her pups size and give her pups better strength from head to toe,
