  1. Looks like i've talked my folks into letting me get a lurcher(only took 7yrs! ), and so i'm now seriously looking into the practicalities of having one, which has raised the question, what type of kennel and run set up should i use? Don't really know the pros and cons of having a wood/galv mesh are so any help on making a decision would be greatly recieved. I assume that a galv setup would be easier to clean? and a wood setup slightly warmer?
  2. Just wondering if many people bother with offal nowadays? I'm in my mid twenties, and when i talk about it most people my age, they look at me as if i'm suggesting canibalism! Got one of my mates to eat lambs heart last night, and he was well impressed! Just seems to me alot of people miss out on a cheap and delicious feed, and i don't know why?
  3. Mate of mine bought one, but he works abroad alot of the time, so haven't used it much, but shooting targets it seemed real accurate, and powerful enough. For the price i think it's a really good tool!
  4. Basically got an old vulcan a few years ago, and myself and a more mechanically minded mate had a go at recondtioning it with new spring, seals, e.t.c., and reblueing it (looked pretty good for about a week ). Anyway I have this as a 'backup', and is currently on loan to a mate who has helped me get alot of my permission, for shooting rats about the farmyard at close range. However he now fancies coming rabbiting with me, but i don't think it's powerful enough. So is there a basic test i can do to estimate the power, without a chrono? If it is less powerful, is it worth taking t
  5. Just to let you all know, went down this evening, with the binos for a look, and the landowner was there. Told me to get on there and start culling. He suggested we drive down the field, and shoot out the car. I wouldn't normally consider this, but as this was pest control, and not entirely a sporting activity i gave it a go and ended up with 9 rabbits in half an hour! Anyway think the farmer will be happy, and i think i'll use this approach until the numbers drop to a reasonable level. I did ring the police before going and they were fine, and there were no problems. I have to
  6. cheers for the replies folks! Think i'll give the police a call when i go to the fields that are in view from the houses. Been told i need to do a good job, and landowner wants to see results. A tip on how i got this permission is got my mate who lives on the neighbouring farm to drop a couple of rabbits in to the new landowner. He was well chuffed and asked where they had come from, and hey presto i'm being asked to go on his land!
  7. Been asked to thin out what to me is a lot of rabbits from some fields next to a railway embankment on some new permission. There is a road also running alongside these fields, with several houses the other side. People local to the area have told me that there are some 'busy bodies' in the area who are likely to call the police if i'm seen on there. I have got the permission in writing, and will make sure all my shots are safe, so i reckon that there shouldn't be a problem. Is there anything else i need to take in to consideration? Should i ring the police and tell them what i'm doin
  8. Looks like a species of the Boiga genus, but I wouldn't like to say i was sure by any means!
  9. What's red and white and goes 'beep beep beep'? The english teams victory bus reversing back into the garage!
