    Thank you

A big thank you to Tyla for coming over to my dad's farm this morning and taking Griff and myself ferreting. I've a lovely morning and am pleased with Griff's first outing and apart from one or two things that we need to work on he's shown some promise. Looking forward to the next outing and am very glad of the genuine people out and about that will help out a total novice like myself!
  2. What I meant by training was the rearing from a chick, handling, etc. I know thats what you meant Maltenby. I was referring to MY LAW's comments. I've heard similar comments from anti's regarding hounds and training them actually...
  3. What on earth makes you think they need lots of time to train these animals to do what comes naturally to them?! I should imagine they need the same sorts of training as dogs in respect of coming back etc but training an eagle to do what it would naturally do to survive in the wild??!!
  4. I've already said I know little about birds of prey but find yourself someone who does, there has already been someone that has told you that there are cultures that use them for fox control on a regular basis. Do some of your own research and see it for yourself... Yes Tyla, bright and early which would be why i'm not in the pub tonight as I have been each other night that i've been childless this week...
  5. I love my legacy! It easily takes three dogs that are 24,25 and 27 "tts in the boot. For more ground clearance try the legacy outback. Not driven the forrester so can't really comment.
  6. If you read you'll see that I haven't seen the bird working myself. I have seen videos of golden eagles taking a fox and in one video a wolf. There is at least one person on here with a working GE, they will tell you that the things can take a fox. Take yourself to the festival of hunting in july and ask the bird handler a few questions of your own, you'll be suprised at what they can do.
  7. There is at least one hunt I know of that use the BOP exemption. They use a golden eagle and they will easily take a fully grown fox. I don't know much about birds of prey or the exemption in the hunting act as the hunt I follow trail hunt but there are certain limitations and only certain birds are allowed to be used, the bird in question has to be proven to be able to take a fully grown fox for a start. The full hunting act is available on the net if you google it. Tyla, if I remember tomorrow i'll show you some pics of the hunt that use an eagle, well worth a day with them if
  8. Boxing day meets are always very well turned out. Even if people don't follow they are there showing support for their local hunt. 300,000 doesn't suprise me in the slightest, when you think of the number of hunts meeting across the UK and Boxing day meets are usually the largest meet of the season.

    Xmas songs

I love Fairytale of New York. Best Xmas song ever.
  10. I agree with Scallywag! There are far more pressing issues that need addressing rather than same sex relationships. Some of my best friends are gay and i'm afraid I can't see the problem with what people do behind closed doors! What other people do within their own relationships is their own business, who is anyone else to say what they do is wrong or immoral.

    boxing day

I'll be out with the foxhounds. Got to be at work by 3pm though.
  12. It makes me sick! I know certain things can affect the levels and readings on breath tests but the limit should be trace! Its not just this time of year either but this is the time that its more likely. Anyone going out drinking shouldn't even think about taking their car, stump up for taxi's or the train instead of risking lives!
  13. Thats terrible news, poor lad and poor family. My thoughts to his family.
  14. I love the West Country but there are are some lovely parts of Sussex - where i'm from. I've not really travelled much round the UK but the drive over the M62 from Manchester to Huddersfield was pretty impressive for a motorway journey. My fave areas have to be in Cornwall though and I hope to relocate there sometime.
  15. I was going to suggest the same as Dawn B. Hunts used to advertise in the local press, especially Boxing Day meets but they don't tend to do that anymore. Could try Horse and Hound but your best bet is to get hold of the Secretary of your local hunt and ask them. I'm looking forward to boxing day but torn between hunts and have to work at 3. Boo.
  16. Thanks all. Fraggle's suggestion worked. Thanks for the offer Gaz, long way to come just to fix a laptop though.
  17. The other night I was reading the forum and I leant on something on the laptop and the page has gone all tiny. Well the font etc has. Its so small I can hardly read it. I presume I have zoomed out somehow but I don't know how to get it back to normal, any ideas? Its only done it on here, facebook etc are all normal.

If I were ashamed I wouldn't own my Lurcher. I've been asked before now if Griff is a baby Wolfhound and people cross the road with their rats on leads to avoid my big bad Greyhounds..! If half of the general public researched what their dogs were originally bred for they'd probably be shocked to find out that it wasn't being carried around and wearing stupid tshirts etc...
  19. Serving drunk people beer. Beats last year, I had to stay in as I had no sitter. My Mum is taking my daughter to Scotland this year to visit my sister, I can't go because of the dogs so i'm working.
  20. I've only ever seen one live Muntjac round here but I know there are some about. Don't know about increasing in number though.
  21. You wanna be bloody careful up there, the gamekeeper on that bit of land will be none too happy to find you mooching and I know he gets out and about after people... He cant run for shit though. How do you know anyways? Because I used to beat for him. He doesn't take too kindly to that sort of thing...
  22. I don't play Ferret Feller, i'm the sec of a team. Just got back and its gonna be one tough report to write tomorrow. Shocking game.
  23. I edited my previous post with a link. It the W810i. The slide ones aren't so great, I upgraded recently from a slide walkman phone and it it didn't work half as well as the one I had before and all the keys split and didn't work properly.
  24. I think you need to be a bit careful with the sort of phone you get Kay, you know what kids are like, all singing and dancing and it'll get stolen etc. The Sony Ericsson Walkman phones are pretty good, I had one a copule of years back that I gave to my sister when I upgraded and it was great, I forget the name of it but I reckon you'd get it fairly cheap now, i'll see if I can find it somewhere for you. Edited to add... Sony Ericsson W810i Found it, its a smashing little phone and there is one on Ebay at the moment.
