I have an AirArms S510 XS Extra in .22 (32f/p) I assume the barrel on this rifle is optimised for pellets. I did contact AA last year and asked about using slugs but got a very bland reply which was basically, "no comment" I've tried a few different brands and weights of slugs over the past few months. I always do a side by side test with JSB18gr at 50 yds. All shots off the car bonnet. Some of the heavier slugs, e.g. 27gr won't even fit in the magazine. Most of the slugs were inconsistent at that range and the groups were unimpressive. A few weeks ago a friend gave me a selection of

I've just ordered a cheap on from eBay just out of curiosity. £8.99 incl postage. I'll plumb the number into Chairgun and Strelok and see if it improves my windy shooting. ?

One of the good things about Hawke is their after sales service. I had a Panorama which was about 10 months old and last October the IR stopped working. I phoned Hawke and they asked me to return it. Posted it 1st class on the Thursday, got a call back from them the following day, Friday, saying it was not repairable and they would send a new one free of charge. It arrived the following day, Saturday. All 4 of my rifles now have Hawke scopes.

my new air arms 510 22 laminate stock
1774pete replied to j j m's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Be very careful with that stock. Last December I bought a new Ultimate Sporter XS Extra with a laminate stock. Two months later I slipped going down a steep slope at night and sat back on the gun and the stock snapped (see pic) AirArms denied liability and offered to replace it with a soft touch black stock for an eye watering £415. I didn't take up their offer! -
I own a .22 AirArms S510 XS Extra (FAC) A friend of mine gave me a few H&N slugs from a sample pack. Last night, in between the showers, I shot a group of 8 23 grain slugs and surprisingly got a group under 1 cm at 40 yards before the rain came down. I have also got a few 25 grain and 21 grain H&N slugs which I have yet to try. Has anyone here had any experience with a S510 and slugs?

Holdover Ted reckons the FX Hybrids shoot well in a Air Arms Ultimate Sporter. I've got the .22 XS Extra version so I put the numbers into Hawke Chairgun to get some idea of the theoretical performance. FX Hybrid slugs in the AA S510 Ultimate Sporter XS .22 cal 22 grain BC=0.08 Muzzle velocity = approx 800 fps @ 32 FP (max power setting) 50 yds 738 fps @ 26.6 FP 100 yds 684 fps @ 22.8 FP Approx 3 Mil Dot holdover @100yds (zero @ 50 yds) Good enough for rabbits if they are as accurate as the 16 grain AA Field or JSBs pellets I'm currently using but that remains to b

BSA R10SE FAC bolt problem
1774pete replied to 1774pete's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The RFD cannot give you back a gun which he finds is over 12 fp unless you have an FAC. Check out the Firearms Acts. Lucky he didn't notify Mr Plod Its a criminal offence to be in possession of a firearm without holding a FAC. No exceptions. The only solution for the RFD is to deactivate the gun or reduce the power before handing it back. The RFD would be in breach of the law if he knowingly handed over a firearm to a person who did not have an FAC. The Firearms Act 1968 creates offences of: Section 1 - Possession of a firearm/specially dangerous air weapon and ce -
BSA R10SE FAC bolt problem
1774pete replied to 1774pete's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
You have a good point there regarding FAC rifles. I would love an Impact but can't really justify the cost. Also I read a lot of negative comments about FX after sales service and long delivery times. So the maybe new AA S510 SX Extra or the Daystate Regal HR are better choices. I use my guns exclusively for hunting so absolute accuracy is not as critical as it would be for target shooting, but what I do need is a rifle that is reliable, consistent and robust. A Land Rover not a Ferrari so to speak. -
BSA R10SE FAC bolt problem
1774pete replied to 1774pete's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The new ranges at Sleaford ( North Rauceby) is really nice. Its Run by Range & Country Gunsmiths and I got a preview shoot with my HW100 just before it opened. Unfortunately I can't shoot the BSA R10 FAC there because its only licenced for sub 12f/p Spent some time on my permissions target shooting with various pellets. The BSA is ok some of the time with 1 inch groups at 40 yds but I'm getting flyers every 5 to 10 shots, even after sorting the pellets. Usually low, like 4 inches or so, regardless of pellet type. Useless when I'm hunting bunnies. Looked at the magazines and can't -
BSA R10SE FAC bolt problem
1774pete replied to 1774pete's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I got it back from BSA today, via the RFD. Feels like its just been pumped up with grease but we'll see how it pans out over the next month or so. -

BSA R10SE FAC bolt problem

I live near Sleaford Phil, although not originally a Yellow Belly. Ex RAF like half the population I think ? -
I did question it when I had "The Visit" from the local Firearms Officer and was told here in deepest Lincs they won't normally consider an open ticket until first renewal, 5 years, although I can apply earlier. ? Previous ticket, many years ago, was in Beds and they were quite happy for me to be wandering around with 6 sect 1 guns.

Hi, I'm Pete and live near Sleaford in Lincolnshire. I have 2 air rifles; a .22 BSA R10SE (FAC) and a .177 Weihrauch HW100 sub-12. I shoot on 3 permissions in my local area, mostly rabbits and the occasional pigeon. Got lucky with my first permission which quickly led to another 2 on neighbouring properties. I only started shooting again last summer after a 36 year gap. Back then I had several Sect 1 pistols and rifles. Firearms laws are a bit tighter now compared to all those years ago. First thing is my FAC is "closed" whereas the previous ones had no such restriction

I bought a new .22 BSA R10SE FAC just before Xmas 2018. I use this along with a HW100 .177 sub-12 for shooting rabbits on three permissions. When I first got the BSA the bolt was a little "notchy" on the cocking stroke but I assumed it would wear in and smooth out. It didn't! After about 6 weeks and less than 500 pellets it started to jam. Took it back to the RFD who has returned it to BSA. While in the shop myself and the dealer tried two other new .22 BSAs, one sub-12 and one FAC and the bolts on both of these were also a little "notchy" Anyone else had this experience?
