Unfortunately I don’t do much hunting yet I live in the city right now and haven’t found a place I can hunt. I am saving up to get myself some land in either Texas or Alaska haven’t decided. Right now I am located in Missouri in the St. Louis area. My dogs with the little hunting I have been able to do and just what they do on there own they tend to go for rabbits especially my Brittany.
I think I am going to keep an eye out for a Saluki but I definitely want to make sure it’s not from the show lines and would like to get some experience with them and sighthounds in general.
Yea I will probably keep looking around and then when I have the space I will most likely get a staghound. And thank you i have heard that they can be difficult i was just curious and i want to learn more about them.
Do any of you guys have experience with either of these to breeds or Xs of these breeds? If so I you like to know your thoughts on them and if you know of anywhere in the states I can get them.
I will definitely keep an eye out but may end doing my own my cross at some point if I don’t find what I am looking for. And I am looking and saving up to buy some land down in Texas.
That is true it’s best to learn through doing but I think I will still hold off for a bit because I am saving up then hopefully I will be able to do some traveling and if I am being honest I need to get the dogs I have now under better control especially with recall which has been the hardest part for me unfortunately.
Missouri is were I am located for now and I think I have found some in the past so if I started looking again I bet I could find some. But for now I am just learning and trying to make connections and gain experience until I can get a good dog and hopefully not ruin it as I am still a newbie.
My lab is actually the crazy one at home well she tends to have the most energy while the others are more relaxed. Hey do any of you guys have any experience with sloughi, Saluki, Azawakh or hortaya borzaya?
That’s a beautiful dog! I will probably do as you guys and others say and buy a pup before I ever do any breeding I just need to keep looking until I find a pup. And I think my Brittany is a little different he is actually super clam until his outside then he tends to be more of a handful but that’s because he wants to run and hunt not walk on a leash.
Thank you all I am looking into lurchers and will hopefully be able to start hunting once I find some land and get my dogs trained a little better. The dogs I have now are a golden retriever, Labrador retriever and a Brittany. So I guess another question I have is would a Brittany Sighthound cross be any good?
