  1. Not to me, if they are struggling I'd rather leave them alone than kill the last few.
  2. Leaving piles of dogged hares around, knocking farmers about, driving fields, putting video on social media, taking randoms off internet out who turn out to be reporters ..... it isn't getting seen that the problem
  3. Rabbits round here are getting scarce, are they in plague proportions by you?
  4. No doubt, problem is if its done right no one's any the wiser. It's when it's done wrong that it's noticed and publicised. That's why we are hated
  5. I doubt it, there's more than enough idiots in our ranks
  6. They've been trying to stop people hunting with dogs since the Norman conquest, it's not happened yet and isn't likely to. It's brazen idiots that make it hard, keep your head down, mouth shut and keep off fb and life would be a lot easier.
  7. Personally, I f***ing hate them. Pointless, noisy waste of money. All my dogs work with guns and love it but the old lurcher bitch hit 10 and started flapping about fireworks, no idea why and not encouraged. One of the other is 9 now and started wierding out this year for first time. We haveca livery yard and every year have deal with firework related damage or injuries. Not so bad when it was just one night but it lasts 2 f***ing weeks now!
  8. Pigs in the spring to clear the ground under the trees. I'd like to avoid too much spray
  9. A couple of ponds are definitely on the cards, probably hire a digger in for a week next year sometime. I will pop over and pick your brain before I do though!
  10. Been cutting and burning over the last couple of weekends, the ground is too wet for any vehicle access so it has been a case of walking in with a chainsaw and a lighter. It's been very therapeutic actually and starting to see the plum orchard reappearing
  11. Where you getting a pint for £3?? Nearer a fiver round this way!
  12. Thats interesting. I've never heard of it but it certainly looks the part.
  13. Nice pics. Which deer park?
  14. This site was great for me, been on here 12 years or more I think. Met loads of mates and had lots of hunting from it. We all used to post on here but most don't bother anymore which is a shame. All still out doing a bit though, just not posting here

I hunted with a musket in Tanzania, we stalked kudu but never got close enough for a shot. Firing the thing was terrifying, you pulled the trigger and the hammer snapped forward then it fizzled for a few seconds while you try to hold your nerve and the gun steady, then it either stopped fizzing or went off like a cannon. It didn't make for accurate shooting. The masaii whose gun it was did show me the remains of a hyena he killed with it the week before I arrived though. I took some pics and looked up what it was when I came home. It was an American civil war issue musket, they were sold as s
  16. Yeah, there is a big difference between sporting stalking and a determined effort to reduce numbers. One is enjoyable and one can feel like work after a while. I snuck out to the woods this evening and got another youngster from amongst a group of does. Not sure whether he was holding them or just chilling with them, he was very unrutty for a buck at this time of year but there didn't seem to be a bigger buck with them
  17. The fallow bucks have been a nightmare so far too. I'm at the opposite end of the country but same problem. A combination of a change in agriculture to maize and a really good mast year has ment there has been no reason for them to ever leave cover. I've been reduced to trying to snipe them as the cross the headlands or trying the stalk them in the woods. The stalking is great sport but is alot of work for limited results when you have a full number to achieve. The maize is finally being cut now so hopefully I will be able to catch up
  18. Beautiful spot and smart bit of hunting
  19. If you have a dog with micro chip I think you will have uses petlog. Have you rung them to ask what it's about?

I binge watched the entire series last night. It's very good
  21. It's a work in progress but been stalked by the weather at the moment. Had a tractor flail in to clear the perimeter and open up some areas. Still got more scrub bashing to do and masses of ash saplings to fell to open up the orchard. Had to call a halt to major works for a bit as the wet weather and machines have made a bit of a mess. Just doing bits with the chainsaw now until things dry up a bit. I'm hoping to have it fenced and ready for animals by the spring
  22. I run a fleet of these for the estate and have done for a few years. I started out with good quality ones on the theory of buy cheap buy twice but found they don't last much longer than the cheap ones. Now i buy cheap. I get about a year out of them outside 24/7 then damp kills. The cards also pack up quite regularly. I get some very interesting footage on them though
  23. 1970s or now I don't want them here, or anywhere else for that matter
  24. Been calling for 2 weeks round this way
